I think the best value for money is probably Standard Premier. You get the same seats as Business Premier, free drinks, and a light cold snack meal with a dessert and tea/coffee too. You don’t get the lounge but considering it’s usually only about £30-£40 more than standard, it’s worth it for the better seats and free food/drinks.
I agree that Standard Premier is what they should have compared Standard with. It is still somewhat affordable, and is good if you need a larger/more comfortable seat. The food in that class doesn't matter that much, but I guess is still worth talking about. Business Premier is for the corporate-types who are having their tickets paid for. It is an insane waste of money for the general traveler, so who even cares about it.
I agree completely. I just took the Eurostar to and from Amsterdam and I appreciated having the table and the lovely food/drink. The lounge looked nice but not for an extra 80 or so quid.
The airport lounge, the quick security, the comfy seat and the food did provide value for the extra money. But the standard offerings were quite OK, and as Nicky pointed out, one could save the money and have a fine dining experience in Paris.
Cafe Metropole’s menu says the gin and tonic plus coconut lentil daal was a bit under £15, plus < £4 for the iced coffee at The Station Pantry; let’s round up and call it £19. The difference between the two classes ranges from £130 to £160 on random trains next week. So Liam saved £110-140 (USD 140-175) in Standard on a two hour train ride. Alternatively, Nicky spent an extra £110-140 for shorter queue, lounge access, and better seat+meal on a two hour train ride.
I know that Kylie Minogue travels between London - Paris on Eurostar, so if it’s good enough for Kylie, it’s good enough for me, as Kylie is the epitome of class and sophistication - and by the way, these two lovely young lads are very handsome looking too 😍😍😍
um bom questionamento, até porque custos (quanto custou) será sempre muito importante, para termos uma boa administração................................ furtado sul do Brasil
Would love to see the comparison of all 3 classes, including Standard premier, whichhas the more comfortable seats, also the food option with a different menu.
I travel between London and Amsterdam a few times a year, always solo and in standard. My impressions are that the waiting area at St Pancras was built almost a decade ago and isn't fit for the amount of passengers now. There are often queues at the two food places - so much easier (and cheaper) to buy something outside and bring it in with you (which is allowed). For standard seats, the Eurostar app is great: you can see what seats / carriages are free and change to those a few hours before the train departure time and nab a seat to yourself.
I wish we had a high speed rail tunnel between Holyhead and Dublin, underneath the Irish Sea, as this is the oldest trading route on these islands dating back to Roman Times - aside from air travel, every time a ferry is placed on any Irish Sea routes, including from Liverpool to Dublin or Pembroke/Fishguard to Rosslare, it fills up rapidly, so there is a clear demand for this - hopefully when HS2 gets going and more lines are opened across the North of England to connect the WCML and the ECML, connecting the Irish Sea to the North Sea, this could change in the next few years, as Dublin continues to expand - I have extended family in Rural Ireland near Dublin but I’ve lived in Manchester for 21 years and I still hold an Irish passport
This past March we did business premier in the opposite direction, Paris to London. It was lovely. A bit pricier than a flight, but just barely and well worth it in my opinion. Hope one day to ride the Eurostar again! Thanks for the review.
As a previous frequent traveler, standard premium is the way to go; it's exactly the same seat and layout as Business premium but without the fancy meal, just a basic one. They used to run from Ebbsfleet meaning you didn't need to haul yourself into London but they've now closed that.. big shame. The original trains were quite noisy and shakey, but the newer ones less so. Price wise, they are twice the cost of flights, so still a way to go for value for money...
Now add in cost to get to and from the airport. And the time. And the more generally miserable airport / airplane experience (apart from the lounge area which agree with you about but then you can get there much later than in an airport).
A couple of weeks ago I walked past a man on my street in London and could not for the life of me work out where I'd seen him before. Only now do I realise it was none other than NICKY! Small world. Keep up the great work guys :) p.s. I hope it was him and not just a doppelganger because then this story isn't so great lol
Yay! Liam & Nicky are back!! Woo Hoo! I loved the video especially with L & N back on this channel and I cannot wait to try the Eurostar Train service all the way from London 🇬🇧 to Paris 🇫🇷 someday! 🎉🎉 I especially love high speed trains and going under the ocean on a train of all things is awesome!! 😁 I cannot wait someday to try the Eurostar Business Premier class hopefully though, not Standard “Economy” Class sorry Liam! 😂 Cheers Mates! 🥂
would love to see the actual numbers. economy ticket plus the price of the food at the station and on the train vs the business class tix that included the food and drinks.
The food in Business Premier isn't "free", it's more like "pre-paid" (and for possibly more food than you might've actually needed). I really wish they had compared Standard to Standard Premier, because that's the comparison I'm currently trying to make. Also, were there no full tables in business class like in standard? What about where the double seats were located?
For people with a status at a member of the Railteam Alliance, the access to the Eurostar Lounges is possible without a Business Premier ticket. German BahnCard 100 (status level gold or platin) gives access for example.
Always enjoy these guys' videos. As many others have said, a much better comparison would have been Standard vs Standard Premier....or SP versus Business (or all three). SP seems to be the best deal if you can get it at a lower price especially the single seat option for solo travellers. The food/drink in Business is "complementary" not "free" i.e. it's included in the ticket price.
Hi, I am a solo female traveler planning on going to London in the next year or so. I would love to see a video on how to enjoy a pub solo but for someone that does not drink alcohol. If that is even possible.
An additional note is that the Business ticket is fully refundable and offers free exchanges. Standard and Standard Premier are non refundable and you have to pay to exchange if it's within 7 days of travel.
Overall top class video lads!! I do think it’s a real shame that neither of you spoke about or mention Standard Premier in this video and frankly should have done considering you were doing a classes comparison of Eurostar; to be honest Ben or someone else should have tagged along and do Standard Premier because it does differ slightly from Business Premier in terms of the meal size being quite a bit smaller and not having the lounge access. It is effectively the 1st class product aimed at leisure travellers who can afford the extra £30/£40 upgrade however sometimes it can be as cheap as £10 to upgrade. But I can see and appreciate why you lads went with this format I.e it gives the audience a more clear differential between the economy option and the upper class option.
Eurostar is the best service high speed wise in Europe . I look forward to seeing how the merger with Thalys will follow. Never been disappointed by Eurostar
Not sure about that….. should try Freccia Rossa of Italy. Their executive class which is also cheaper offer all you can eat/drink from their menu. They also made a video on this channel.
I simply love every video you two are in, and this time you two were reviewing a service I’m considering taking (BUD-VIE-London by train!!)!! But…who arrived first this time?? 🤔🤔🤔😉😎
Took Eurostar to Brussels last February and I had a chance to choose my seat as well after I paid for it. :) Such a shame I didn't try to go to the restaurant but I will definitely go next. time
Eurostar is both good and bad for what it offers. Its great advantage is that it operates city centre to city centre, so there's no additional travel from out-of-town airports; you're there as soon as you arrive. The departure lounge at St. Pancras can sometimes feel claustrophobic as it is not big enough. At busy times there are nowhere near enough seats. You also have to compare its cost with that of other forms of transport. While I would love to keep my carbon footprint to an absolute minimum, I know that the cost of air travel is much cheaper. For example, I travelled on Eurostar/TGV to Marseille last year. For the amount I paid, I could have taken the same journey for my partner and me three times by air. Much of the cost of travelling to France by train is the Eurostar travel. We were in Toulouse earlier this year and wished to take a train ride to Carcassonne, some 58 miles. The cost for the two of us (we are both seniors) was two euros. Imagine getting that sort of deal in the UK. Finally, well done guys for producing such a polished account of your journey.
One thing that probably should be adressed on all classes is the woeful wifi. On ICEs,TGVs and UK trains I can connect to the VPN and get work done, even when speeding through the countryside. The Eurostar is hopeless. I don't know if it's the equipment on train, or the lack of antennae along the line, but IMO it needs upgrading to match what the customer is used to on other operators. Especially if they want to encourage more business travellers.
The holding pen at St Pancras is a terrible experience and really puts me off using the service again especially living up in Northern England. No wonder economy seating felt good if you had a 4 seat table to yourself, the airline seat legroom room is not great but ok for journey length.
Eurostar Standard Premier is lovely. You get the same seat that Nicky was in in Business Premier, but with a "light meal" instead of what you get in business, and no priority boarding as you mention.
If I catch the 6am train, how’s the queue to check in if on standard economy? If I buy the premier ticket, will the lounge be opened and from what time?
Funny to see that the new Eurostar is based on the German ICE 3 whereas the old Eurostar was based on the French TGV, but the Eurostar does not even go to Germany.
Is the Standard Premier still on offer? I’ve done that it and it was a good compromise, the same seat as Business Premier, a light meal service, but no priority boarding, and about 1/2 the price of Business Premier (at least when I did it pre-pandemic).
Sorry Nicky time for you to go on an economy run you always get the premium. Sorry Liam the dead bird in the front of the train not the best start. Now as its a train video the big question. Can you travel facing backwards or direction of travel?
if your getting a connection between to train stations ie arriving at 0715 from glasgow - Eurostar leaves at 0815 what time do need to be there before gate closing?
The departure lounges at St Pancras and the Gare du Nord are simply not big enough. Living in SW Kent, we always used to travel from Ashford International but now have to travel into London to get Eurostar (adding 1h 30min to the overall journey). Last time we were there last September it was horrendous in the departure lounge, worse than Gatwick. Put us off travelling by Eurostar in future. Business Premier is definitely not worth the considerable extra cost. As others have said, Standard Premier is the best compromise.
I miss what was "Leisure Premier" from like a decade ago, Business Premier seat and food service, but without the lounge access (personally don't need it most of the time)
That still exists Jonathan but just in the rebranded name of Standard Premier, I think it’s a real shame they didn’t mention this in the video and frankly they should have done considering they were doing a class comparison of Eurostar; to be honest they should have had Ben or someone else tag along and do Standard Premier because it does differ slightly from Business Premier.
@@abakedslayermcgiles2703 yeah, looked on the Eurostar website and I see the product is "back", but rebranded... there was a while where it wasn't available at all... Edit: Also back in the day of Leisure Premier, it was the same (AFAIK) meal service as Business Premier... IMNSHO there still a space for old Leisure Premier market wise... but Eurostar will do what Eurostar will do I guess
How many channels do you have?? There is another one with same names but seems to be based in USA. I was confused since I saw one of your video there. Is it you or copycat? 😂
Is it possible to upgrade to a different class? I didn't see an option like that on the app. I have a Standard Premier ticket from London to Amsterdam in January. I wouldn't mind testing out that Business Premier seat!
istr the only way to upgrade is to pay the difference in the ticket you have and that of the business premier - be warned though business prem to asmsterdam is around £250 each way they don't have advance fares like the other classes.
Standard class is OK if you don't have to travel near a group of kids or high school students : then you'll not enjoy even 10 seconds of silence between London and Paris 😁. Best choice for me is Standard Premier, with more legroom. Business Premier is a bit overpriced.
Once I was on an evening Eurostar from Brussels to London, with my mum in standard class. Silence for the whole journey, except the odd extremely hushed conversation.
I would always go on the cheaper seats as its only a 2 hour 17 minute journey and it's not worth paying for the business seats ,also get a Samsung phone which has a better battery than the iPhone so you don't need to charge it on the train ,bring your own food or snacks on the train and as I said it's only 2 hours 17minutes so you don't need any food ,good video but the cheaper seats for me all the way it's a none brainer, all the quick security stuff is a con as the train can't go until the other passengers get on and you only wait for a xtra 10 minutes which isn't a big deal.
As a frequent business premier user it’s crap. You get a fast queue to get straight in which is nice, but in terms of the offering the lounge is a corridor which is always rammed on week days, the coffee, particularly on the train is the worst I’ve had in decades and the food is utter crap. If you compare to what you get flying business with an airline there is no comparison.
We did Eurostar last year economy for 4 of us. The table you are sat at sits 4 nicely to go to Paris. This year, we booked flights as there are 5. Plus, Eurostar does not release seats until 3 months before. Our flights cost £1500. Eurostar would have been £2,000!
8:26 the women behind you is trying so hard to stare at you without you noticing then at 8:32 you can see the person sitting next to her looking at you but then at 8:35 she gave up trying to be sly and is straight up judging you hard AF what a wild ride it was like a B plot for the entire vlog 🤣
Surprisingly pointless review because it ignores tge middle option, Standard Premier. Often only £20 or so more than Standard. Nicer seats, food and drink.
10 years ago, I used to do London to Paris on a fortnightly, if not monthly basis and we'd always travel Business Premier, due to our preferential rates arranged through our business travel agent. However, the standard of product on offer has declined significantly in the subsequent years, not helped by Covid and the reduction in face to face meetings. Gone are the days of the hot food menu being served, supposedly by Raymond Blanc and bottomless drinks on the service in the lounge. There was a sweet spot however, in about 2017, about the time when Gare Du Nord had refurbished their business class lounge to be towards the front of the station concourse... The bartender used to make a mean mojito! Being half cut by the time you reached Frethun was the way to go! I think back then, we were charged £258 for a return trip on business premier, which meant we also accrued our carte blanche points pretty rapidly!
I think it would be worth EITHER spot to be able to pop into Paris for an unbelievable lunch experience, a night out in the city then pop back home.. Lining in the States is wonderful and free and all that, love my guns and all, but man I would really enjoy spending a year across the Pond to see life in Europe. One day maybe.
If it saves having to go for a shit in at St Pancras International's horrible horrible toilets after checking in, I'd be willing to consider business premier..
I think the best value for money is probably Standard Premier. You get the same seats as Business Premier, free drinks, and a light cold snack meal with a dessert and tea/coffee too. We were stuck for 3 hours on our return to London. Thank goodness for premier. We made friends and the wine kept flowing.
Also the seats have a bit that flips up to give your legs more support/more seat space (in all classes) but most people don't know about it:)

Standard class can range from anything between £40 and £180. Business Premier is a fixed price at £325.
The food in Business Premier isn't "free", it's more like "pre-paid" (and for possibly more food than you might've actually needed). I really wish they had compared Standard to Standard Premier, because that's the comparison I'm currently trying to make.

There are tables in business for 4 seats and 2 seats. And also 2 and 1 seat options with no tables

How many channels do you have?? There is another one with same names but seems to be based in USA. I was confused since I saw one of your video there. Is it you or copycat? 😂
I hope Liam gets to try out a pint in a video.
Is it possible to upgrade to a different class? I didn't see an option like that on the app. I have a Standard Premier ticket from London to Amsterdam in January. I wouldn't mind testing out that Business Premier seat!
there is no difference in seat comfort between Business Premier and Standard Premier, there is only a difference in service.
@@marcd6897 Thanks. That wasn't my question though.
istr the only way to upgrade is to pay the difference in the ticket you have and that of the business premier - be warned though business prem to asmsterdam is around £250 each way they don't have advance fares like the other classes.
You want to test out the same seat then? @@TheRailwayDrone
Absolutely worth an extra 100-150 pounds
Hi love your vids
Standard premiere is the way to go ...
Silence for the whole journey, except the odd extremely hushed conversation.
how about standard prem vis business prem
no one going to talk about the bird at 3:41 hahaha
Ironically amex platinum and standard premier makes the most sense for frequent business travel.
A true comparison would have maybe included a price for each experience
All in the video 🤓😉
I would always go on the cheaper seats as its only a 2 hour 17 minute journey and it's not worth paying for the business seats ,also get a Samsung phone which has a better battery than the iPhone so you don't need to charge it on the train ,bring your own food or snacks on the train and as I said it's only 2 hours 17minutes so you don't need any food ,good video but the cheaper seats for me all the way it's a none brainer, all the quick security stuff is a con as the train can't go until the other passengers get on and you only wait for a xtra 10 minutes which isn't a big deal.
I'm missing 4K video resolution -_-
5:58 the lady behind is like wtf hahaha
As a frequent business premier user it’s crap. You get a fast queue to get straight in which is nice, but in terms of the offering the lounge is a corridor which is always rammed on week days, the coffee, particularly on the train is the worst I’ve had in decades and the food is utter crap. If you compare to what you get flying business with an airline there is no comparison.
8:45 It looks like a Ghoogni.
DEFINITELY not a bucket of sick.
At 4:42, is someone burping in the background? lol
Class 373 is better then 374
Nicky has really grown on me. Initially I didn't like him. That said, Liam will always be my favorite. 😍
Rip the bird at 3:41
Not free. Built into the price.
Return standard tickets are 80£pp… That’s 400 total… How on earth would Eurostar have cost 2K?
@@mathieudelvauxI wanted to ask the same!
bruh it’s the exact same apart for the flod
8:26 the women behind you is trying so hard to stare at you without you noticing then at 8:32 you can see the person sitting next to her looking at you but then at 8:35 she gave up trying to be sly and is straight up judging you hard AF what a wild ride it was like a B plot for the entire vlog 🤣
Surprisingly pointless review because it ignores tge middle option, Standard Premier. Often only £20 or so more than Standard. Nicer seats, food and drink.
anyone spot the dead pigeon on the train at 3:42 ?!
Premier is so expensive
I think it would be worth EITHER spot to be able to pop into Paris for an unbelievable lunch experience, a night out in the city then pop back home.. Lining in the States is wonderful and free and all that, love my guns and all, but man I would really enjoy spending a year across the Pond to see life in Europe. One day maybe.
If it saves having to go for a shit in at St Pancras International's horrible horrible toilets after checking in, I'd be willing to consider business premier..
Have you considered shitting at home?
You have a Smoking Room in the Lounge ?
