You must. Because that was back in at least the late 60s. Even the 1st GSA auctions in the 70s we're selling the good CC coins at a minimum bid of $60. Then 30 in the 2nd and 60 again.

Up until this Spring you could find slabbed Morgans in many antique and pawn shops here in central North Carolina. I would pick one up here & there (mainly to keep the shop in business). Then I went back to pick up a MS67 1883 I'd seen for $120 in a hole-in-the-wall shop in Sanford. Seems after the folks from the Northeast got out of lockdown they made a bee-line to the South to grab all things Morgan. :-(

A dealer bought a 89 cc from me for 750 back in 2009 and I had no clue what grades or anything else was I was just taking the 300+ Morgans my parents had and taking them to the coin shop for money. Biggest regret to this day.

What is the value of a 1890 silver dollar, and a 1922 peace silver dollar? Just curious.
Benslynn David, every value or every price depends on the condition; the grade of the coin. There are also fake coins out there that's why every coin requires grading before knowing the value or selling it. Grading also costs money because sometimes you will discover that your coin is worth nothing. That's why some people don't want to send their coins for grading unless they are convinced that it is really worthy-grading.

That would depend on the grade, but for an average coin about $35 seems reasonable.

@@patrickwelch1010 Great! But appraisal or grading costs a lot of money. Sometimes you might find out that you paid a lot of money for appraisal, but your coins are worth nothing. That's why most people do not appraise their coins unless they are convinced that those coins are almost new. When you send for appraisal, it takes months (4-5). If you want express, you got to pay more fee. I am very patient waiting for your decision.
@@yemengoto4905 agree, only 15-20 need an expert. I know something about it. None are new. I have the original appraisal and all the recent sales books etc. I’ll take them to someone in Los Angeles. Have them go through them and agree on those that need further review. Give me a month or so.

I can get you pricing once they do the quick review. Most were graded at very fine in 1979 by a reputable broker. They have been sitting in a safe since.

I've had 2 jars full of coins...one of pennies and the other of white coins...going through them an separating them. Found some really old pennies (1944 and above. It will take a long time to learn about them.

Sometimes mintages can lie though. You could have a low mintage but high survival rate in mint state. And then you can have a high amount minted with a low survival rate in mint state.

@@BrianJones-cu2sx the 1884 and 1885 CC both have low mintages but high survival rates due to the fact that they were stuck behind mint walls. Had they gone through the normal rhetorics that coins go through I doubt the survival rate would have been as high and they would have been twice as expensive.

I'm just getting into the coin collecting market and I'm probably too late for this comment. I read an article about the top 20 Morgan Silver Dollars. That 86 "o" is, was worth a pretty penny. It was somewhere in the middle, say 9,10,11 of the top 20 coins. I rated the coins myself on a scale of 1-$ to 5-$$$$$ as far as value. I put that coin at a 3-$$$ so probably around $6 ,000-$12,000 range.
