I never realized how much I "need" this module until this video. Just ordered it and Warps. I also "need" that one. I hope the modular companies are treating you well for marketing their gear better than they do! haha. Thanks for your insightful videos.
Just a wee heads up - It's now 2022, and this video prompted me to get the module. It's now been discontinued, and my vendor was down to the last 2 units. Mine shipped out a few hours ago.
interestingly in a totally blind shoot out on the Muff Wiggler forum I think the LPG emulation mode came second with Optomix third by users/listeners voting. I think the Sputnik Quad LPG came first ... if I remember rightly this is, was a while back.
the behaviour is digitally emulated but the core of Streams is two analogue VCFs and two analogue VCAs. So it is an analogue signal path. It's digital control over analogue, which is where all the clever things this can do (check the "5 more things" video I did with Streams too) come from.
+Daan Dobber it's a DIY switch that just works to control jumpers on the E350 module. Instead of removing the module to take jumpers off etc I can just flick a switch. it's glitch or smooth morphing and phase or morphing mode.
So I'm trying to plan a rack right now, would you say this is something that I could use simultaneously as a vca and vcf and would you recommend it as such? Sorry if that was answered in the video or is a nonsense question, it's all still a bit tough to grasp.
+justinbaldwin66 Totally fine to ask questions however much they may seem "nonsense" it's not the easiest and most simple thing to get in to. Bonus mode 5 is a filter mode. Giving you access to the filter to modulate the cut off and the VCA always has a level control in. So you could have two analogue filters going into two analogue VCAs for your set up. I'm looking to start offering lessons over Skype if that's something you'd be interested in. You're welcome to message me or we can email to discuss anything (lesson based stuff or just a few questions).
+DivKidMusic Thanks a million man, your videos have been truly invaluable in feeling this thing out. I'll certainly be shooting you an email at some point, or I actually think I saw you on muffwiggler too if you prefer pm. And I bet you anything a lot of people would be into an introductory course through skype considering the very steep learning curve with this stuff. Cheers man and thanks again!
+justinbaldwin66 we'll see, I've been telling a few people but no-one biting yet. I'll start adding it to the top of video descriptions maybe for a while. And do a "message from me" video about it or something to let people know.
+Ian Hoffman well ASR is attach sustain release, so that's responding to your gate. Shorten the gate or send a trigger. Surely just send it what you want it to respond to and if it's not responding change the mode? Normal envelope mode 1 is just AD I think, bonus envelope mode is ASR.
buzzfunk Hey man, I don't have so I can't do any videos. I did speak to Hex Inverter regarding videos and it's possible for the future but not right now.
sold out sold out sold out sold out...each time i find it its sold out sold out sold out!!!..im gonna try to do it myseilf..but the leds are eating voltage?
LEDs do eat some voltage. It's varying depending on how the outputs are engineered into the circuits on different modules. Buffered outs are very different to non buffered for example. There's another guy/gal/team in the US putting out these cables I've seen so you might find someone else doing them.
Really enjoy your videos. Question: In Siamese mode, around 8:35, you say you are delaying the drum beat by an 8th note to put into the right excite input. Is this delay done in Streams or are you using some other module?
Thanks DivKidVideo. I liked the effect and can think of a few ways to get to it with my gear. Anyway, I bought a Streams, and some of the credit for that goes to your persuasive video.
best eurorack demo vids....period.
+wordscontrolminds awesome! thanks man.
I second that, best vids

I think Streams is somewhat underrated. Warps is great too. Olivier at Mutable is great to work with as are many of the companies.
Thanks for these videos, good balance of sound and commentary, can't wait to get a modular setup!
+Joseph Curwen cheers Joseph appreciate it.

glad you found one, I think it's an underrated module in the Mutable Instruments line up.
Great demos on this piece, Both parts! Convinced me to pull the trigger on this
nice one, cheers Danny.
Thanks for your Vid, Was going to get an Optomix but this seems to have loads more going for it.

damn you. your elements video made me buy one. good info, great modules!
+prallund feucht haha! Sorry and thanks - strange to say both at once! :)

So it's not a genuine analog low pass gate , but a digital emulation ?

Another great demo - thanks!
+Mariana Cruz cheers
What is the little modules that has two switches? The one that says G - S and P - M
+Daan Dobber it's a DIY switch that just works to control jumpers on the E350 module. Instead of removing the module to take jumpers off etc I can just flick a switch. it's glitch or smooth morphing and phase or morphing mode.
where do you get led patch cables?
mushi.one

I've had a streams for a while now and am still confused on when I should be using a trigger or a gate. Sometimes the envelopes seems too ASR-ey

Hey dude, any chance of a video for Mutant machine? ;)

Kid,where comes the Excite cable from?...(I still cant upload my vids...too long ...i think i must change the format or something...shame!)
is that an LED cable? Utopb or Mushi.one for the cables but I aren't sure they're still producing those.

Thanks a lot Kid!!!
no worries.
Really enjoy your videos.

Hey Erik, cheers for the question. I think I did this in my DAW sending out the drum loop. Sending out two audio channels pre-prepared for the demo.
however there are some clocked delay option that you could go low feedback and 100% wet on for this sort of thing. But it's not what I did here.
Thanks DivKidVideo. I liked the effect and can think of a few ways to get to it with my gear. Anyway, I bought a Streams, and some of the credit for that goes to your persuasive video.
great thank you! :)
Tasty!
