At 65 I had almost forgotten the effects of domestic abuse. I watched my sister go through this and now see my niece and nephew very damaged. Being a witness to it many times I am damaged too. Plus mental abuse from my father. I am so thankful for a perfectly loving mother. May she rest in peace❤
The old lifetimes movies hit different, they actually had a great story line and some suspense to it
Watching this movie again, brought tears to my eyes, just to remind me how much I went through and the silence I had to endure because yes, I felt ashamed, today, I'm free and even though the scars remain, I am very grateful the past is gone... My heart goes to the women who are suffering right now, and yes, there is hope, some we are lucky, some are not.

I went through it too, but fortunately I didn’t have children with him. It was daily… beat, raped, kidnapped, stalked. I was 18 at the time time, 62 now and still scared of seeing him.
It's beyond tragic to suffer the physical abuse from a spouse as well as the mental abuse from a mother. I have received both and to be honest the mental abuse from my mother left far deeper scars than the physical abuse

My parents were never ever abusive ......but my mom always made me feel like I was never good enough. Ever since I can remember she'd say hurtful things and here iam 43 years old and still feel that way. Being around her I feel I walk on egg shells 😮💨. It definitely scars
@@judyalcatraz918 Making you feel less than is mental abuse, especially if it is done over a prolonged period. It is one thing for a mother to be mean on a rare occasion and be remorseful and try hard not to do it again, but when someone does it over and over and never cares to consider what impact it is having on their child....that is abuse.
Made me realise just how much other people hide their shame when going through this. We have survived over and over. I now love my life and fourd my self-respect. No man would ever lift his hand to me ever again

I'm so thankful for my mom. She didn't teach me how to cook. She told me to go to college and not depend on a man. I am married to a good man and I don't depend on him for $. My heart aches for people going thru this.
I'm a mom of 3 and I would do the same as she did for my children I would never give my children to my abuser that's for sure

I agree with you. Once a man starts to abuse you like this, he is not going to stop and it will only going to get worse. Staying with a man like this and having children only makes matters worse as they will suffer from depression and anxiety and other mental disorders. I found that calling the police and getting a restraining order does not really help. They will eventually find you and the sad part is that the victim usually dies. Our judicial system in America is too lenient when it comes to 'ABUSE'. They need to change the law and make sure the abusers receive an appropriate sentence, not Community Service, and also they desperately need counseling for Anger Management. Women should never be ashamed to speak up.
How sad and how pathetic this judicial system is so broken. This scenario happens every single day and it's called "the good ole' boys club". Any judge who turns away from this kind of abuse should have to turn his robe in.. He's nothing more than a mockery and there are plenty of them out there.. It's disgusting and I don't believe it will ever change.
I went through this in the late 80s and the only thing they could do to you is witness protection program...Only a couple of decades ago it was inconceivable for a father to get given custody of their children. Today it's common. Back then, women didn't have the same clout as we have today... Men have gained more parenting rights in women have gained more individual rights in the process

This people are great actors.
Not really. But every aspect of what happens in abusive relationship was portrayed here. Perhaps all of it doesn't happen all the time but it's pretty damn close.
This guy was bad at pretending to be aggressive, but he played well.

Best , truethful movie ever. Sucks being a woman or in some cases , even the man dealing with same for the dake of the kids. Between finances, , housing , transportation, medical covetage, so many everyday things yaken for hranted byamy that are taken away. Then , the biggest of all. If the system even believes you !! Seems this will never end. Can'nt give up hope, get out ,! Get a program going for help tjen run with it ! It's in no way easy . May all been & are there find peace , & love, real love.

And despite the reality of some progress the strong & overpowering anchor that holds back the true capacity for much needed progress, still exists. Overturning Roe vs Wade & now pending legislation to ban access to birth control are reflective of the strong undercurrents of what also leaves battered & abused women still very vulnerable... and the resources for help are dangerously challenged by rapidly escalating demand. There is still much work to be done ... the battle is far from over

Still more common than we all realise. Here in Australia over 40 women have been killed by their husband/partner/boyfriend/or ex in the past 5 months.

, because that boy has trauma’s and is very scared and angry. The kids are the victims from fiscal and mantal, manipulator from the one how is the narcissistic demon. I am going true the same with my ex and my kids to. The only way to begin a new life is no contact and sometimes you must living in a other place far away from the narc. Leave no adres to nobody not even your friends or family. This are not humans the are send by the devil him self, he need deliverance. I am staying single for the rest of my life after narcissistic abuse my hole life again and again. Enough is enough NEVER AGAIN. I don’t need a man to complete me because I am hole. The only man i need that is Jezus Christ, i live this short life only with God. Stay strong and fight and sometimes flight, but never stay because it is getting worse and worse, the try to kil me and must stay in the hospital for the rest of my life. The hit me in a wheelchair but even this is much beter than live with that monsters. Please leave them the don’t love you, it is only about control over you and to have the power over you. There are als a lot of women’s that do this to there ex husbands or partners to take revenge and they never stop doing this. Why?…. If you really love your kids than you don’t use you’re kids to destroying you true them. Your kids are happy if they are feeling save and welcome and live in peace with both parents. Don’t use your one kids because you destroyed your kids for the rest of there life. May God Blessing you al. And don’t think they’re changing, yess the are changing but nood for good but for worse. I know in a way what she was going through because I dealt with it too with my ex-husband and believing it sucks! Because of my ex-husband, I miscarried my child. I hate that. @@laurachin5099 what I do is, I make playlist with my favorite movies that I love to watch. And then I’ve binge watched them over and over because they’re so awesome. Especially ones like that I’ve seen when I was younger than I love when days are just really hard and I do that. And that makes me happy! I am blind and also autistic but my favorite thing to do is yes I know crazy right watch movies. I can’t see them, but I can visualize the Lord gave me a great imagination. I’m glad to have. Laughing out loud.

I had to stop the film as the music was so distractingly bad. Music should enhance a scene. This music seemed entirely random to a scene and poorly calibrated. Excruciating.
