I’ve watched countless dynasty videos and I haven’t seen anyone else talk about this stuff. I’ve done 9 seasons of my ECU dynasty and didn’t know 90% of the content in this video. Great work.
The caps are actually wonderful to have, because if you remember in NCAA 14 after 4 to 5 years almost every team in the game was at least a 90 overall.
That motivator thing is no joke. I had 3 o-linemen get drafted in my last season and that turned my 78 overall 4 star rookie guard to 91 overall (with boosts) after the offseason.
This is really helpful, especially your point on lower star gems. It makes you evaluate the gem and bust system too, a 5 star bust may end up being way more valuable than a 3 star gem because of the higher ceiling. Especially if you plan to play with them. Big takeaway is don’t give up on higher star busts in favor of lower star gems because in the long run they may be better. Based on their caps.
Exactly, this was something that I had to sit down and think about for a bit. A lot of people have been so focused on low star gem, but that ceiling could be problematic and their floor starts much lower.
5 star busts can still get star dev trait. This is why many are recommending to not even scout 5 stars because gems can be impact and busts can be star and base can be elite. For me its still worth it because most positions speed is by far the most important thing to scout for.

The off season training progression is bs. Soon as early signings are done in off season and u at the change positions screen, manually save after u change everyone like u want. Then proceed to next week and look at training results. Then back out and reload the manual save, every time u do this the results will be different so if u want a certain player to rank up more then another just keep doing it until u get the results u want then save manually. I found this out when my running back at Wyoming got to 99 speed 99 trucking and 99 jump when he was pretty average the prior years. Now I’m running around and running thru everyone. Gonna hate to see him go after this year 😢
Pretty sure stat caps are affected not only by your players' star rating, but the player type. Deep Threat WRs will have lower RR caps than a Route Runner WR, Power/Elusive Backs will have their caps reflect this, Pass Coverage LBs will have higher coverage caps etc etc. Defintely worth keeping in mind also.
I remember finding my first QB capable of hitting 99 and just being dumbfounded. He was a normal 5 star, also landed a 5 star gem QB and fully planned on starting him. Checked his caps and the 5 star gems caps were crap compared to the other.
Funniest thing is you can get that 80 rated elite no cap freshman and if he's a QB, FS/SS or CB theres a good chance he'll never turn into a 90+ but other positions like RB, WR, OL, MLB its virtually guaranteed even 95+ is very likely. The real key to getting insane players is in combining the offseason training bonuses with maxed tier 4 tactician. This way youre getting high rated players and boosting them up to +5 if you have assistants as well. Then they get drafted highly which boosts the next group.
I feel like draft projections don’t factor in tactician boosts tho, so realistically I think the best combo for players getting drafted is Motivator and Architect
@@mauricejohnson716 youre right but im not optimizing to have guys get drafted highly, im optimizing for having the best players on the field which tactician does contribute to. CEO also has an ability that increases stat caps for rising seniors, which is really good if you're developing 2 and 3 star guys. Also, the bonus XP for 3 game win streaks in Architect is sneaky good, as it gives XP to everyone in the position group and not just starters. This sounds good but its really a waste of points. I’ve had a 79 corner jump to a 93 his last season and he was a 2 star impact, and I’ve had a 4 star tight end come in at a 75 and only got to a 79 as a senior. The stat caps matter so much
Great vid! Would you suggest saving for master motivator level 3 for each group or architect level2 for each position group? I sim to the end of my season and my 90 sophomore didn't develop because he was capped out for ratings and abilities and just has 22 skill points which sucks
Wish EA would allow u to unlock all these Perks for your Coach even if it was having to coach for a decade being capped out at 50 sucks, love that they have caps on the players that is realistic but to cap off your Coach is Bs Im trying to have a Coach who is the next Saban Elite recruiting classes w the best of the best players on top of finding hidden gems in a 3 star on top of having Elite draft classes It’s weird that u only have 3-6 players a yr getting drafted even at elite schools like Ohio state
I agree bc 50 in an offline league is easy to get to and then your coach is capped. Yeah I found the draft thing kinda weird too, I feel like schools like that have more players being drafted
Red shirting will basically give them another year to grow towards their stat caps which is great. The only thing is that if you redshirt an elite player you won’t be accruing skill points by playing with them.
What is better at improving the players you have, Architect or Talent Developer? Also do you get double boosts if your coordinator has the same ability as your head coach? Thanks for the help

Who knew that these stat caps would be as if not more important than 5 Star ratings, gems to busts and even elite to normal development. Now I for one have to look at all of the players stat caps for assurance; if only there was a way to increase the players stat caps.
I had a 79 ovr Safety who got 13 picks as a freshman... with elite development trait... progress 0‐1 overall for his sophomore season. He did progress 4 overall to get to 83 tnroughout his freshman season. That's broken right there
What was the coin or whatever that thing is with the number next to it on the player card on the top right corner of the screen? I was looking at player cards on my roster and my Senior 92 OVR CB on Kentucky had 2 instead of zero
I do best available first (that are interested), I do keep team needs in mind when rounding out my board tho. You can’t see stat caps until the player is on your team.
Recruiting is such a fun aspect of the game. So why can’t we scout the cap levels of a player during the process to get some kind of hint at their overall potential? Missed opportunity there … in reality, we are playing the lottery in what is dealt for a player’s ceiling.
Did they patch the ability to change your coach pipeline ? So if I take a new job say Colorado St after I was at Kennesaw, when I leave for Colorado State, in my mind it makes sense to switch to Colorado pipeline. Also how on earth do you get the higher pipelines and more of them
He probably won’t, NCAA 25 values blocking TE archetype those seem to be the ones that hit high 80s low 90s after you get past the real TEs in the game
@@PoodleGaming Yesterday in my dynasty I notice that I don't have nay hours to schedule an visits for some players. Can you direct me to what I'm doing right or is it a glitch? I never experienced this in the first season. Thanks again.
Thanks! With many more players with good devs and stats. However, it is projecting me to have one 1st rounder, one 2nd rounder, and etc.
Have you tested the thing that randomly gives them an opportunity to exceed their cap? It seems that may be better than at first glance - just wondering what the % is
I have made a dynasty and got all of the architect 4/4 except hb and kicker, the highest I got my team to was a 95 ovr on offense and defense that’s also with 3/4 in motivator on all positions except k/p
My big question is why some players lose so much skill, when you flip their position from one side to the other. Like RT to LT or LOLB to ROLB. I'll recruit two decent frosh RT, flip one to LT, and they go from like 75 to 68. You aren't changing their "position" just the side of the field, so why the big drop?
It’s just based on how the game does it. Different positions value different stats. For instance a MLB values zone/tackle/play rec etc, a OLB values pass rush, so if you move a OLB with good pass rushing OLB to MLB, he may be a worse overall.
@@PoodleGaming Sure, because OLB and MLB are different positions. LT and RT aren't different positions, just different sides. Same with LOLB and ROLB. Yes there are some positional differences between what you want on your strong or weak side of the formation, but the basic position is the same. What's maybe even worse, is that some players, will get ratings boosts for a full position swap, like CB to FS or LT to RG.
One question I still have is what happens when you can’t start elite guys cause you have others ahead of them will they still develop if you redshirt and don’t get the stats with them.
Caps are so goofy like they work for the first few seasons but by year 4 and beyond play ratings are so...weird. Talent pools are spread thin and no one seems to progress at all.
@PoodleGaming I discovered it testing how playbooks and offense aggression affect stats. On one hand, it's nice that not every player ends up a 99. But the caps are a little too restrictive except for coaches with the perk to extend those caps.
My dynasty league owner has 4 3 star recruits in their JR (RS) season with 99 overalls. At normal dev trait. Everyone else in our league with better recruiting years maybe have one if at all and they are at least a 4 star recruit with better dev traits am I wrong thinking he's fucking with stats?
What if you have a Senior playing ahead of your newly recruited Elite Dev Freshman. If you redshirt the Freshman so they get the maximum amount of Reps/ stats during the following RS Freshmen season does that stunt any progression?
Is there anyone a players archetype can chance ? For whatever reason anytime a position change happens the archetype changes. For example if you change qb to another position and then back he will be scrambler no matter what. WR will be threat which is a positive but the RB will be receiving back which is obviously awful
@@PoodleGaming thought so. Crazy thing is like if you have elusive back and change position and then immediately switch back he will be a receiving back and lose shifty side step etc

I’ve had a 79 corner jump to a 93 his last season and he was a 2 star impact, and I’ve had a 4 star tight end come in at a 75 and only got to a 79 as a senior. The stat caps matter so much
That’s an insane jump for his last season, that’s nice!
Great vid! Would you suggest saving for master motivator level 3 for each group or architect level2 for each position group? I sim to the end of my season and my 90 sophomore didn't develop because he was capped out for ratings and abilities and just has 22 skill points which sucks
I definitely like limitless (cap breaker abilities), especially to make sure you can utilize your points.
Great video, appreciate the insight.
Thanks for the support, glad the video helped you out!
Wish EA would allow u to unlock all these Perks for your Coach even if it was having to coach for a decade being capped out at 50 sucks, love that they have caps on the players that is realistic but to cap off your Coach is Bs
Im trying to have a Coach who is the next Saban
Elite recruiting classes w the best of the best players on top of finding hidden gems in a 3 star on top of having Elite draft classes
It’s weird that u only have 3-6 players a yr getting drafted even at elite schools like Ohio state
I agree bc 50 in an offline league is easy to get to and then your coach is capped. Yeah I found the draft thing kinda weird too, I feel like schools like that have more players being drafted
Very helpful information thank you
Glad it was helpful!
You really should be a teacher for how well you explained this
You’re the greatest for this one gang
So glad I can help!
This was an awesome breakdown. I'll actually know what I'm doing now 😂
Glad I could help. Let me know how your dev’ing goes.
Great video! I didn't know any of this and am 10+ seasons into a dynasty. Could you explain how redshirting a player effects their development?
Red shirting will basically give them another year to grow towards their stat caps which is great. The only thing is that if you redshirt an elite player you won’t be accruing skill points by playing with them.
@@PoodleGaming true! Thank you!
What is better at improving the players you have, Architect or Talent Developer? Also do you get double boosts if your coordinator has the same ability as your head coach? Thanks for the help
The boosts do stack if your coordinator has them too. Talent developer is probably the best but it’s personal preference.
@@PoodleGamingcan you test Talent Developer? Because I did with Alabama because their coach has it built on, and players like Ryan Williams never got good
Wish they would show progression rate without having to check the player card in view roster. Like in depth chart instead of having to go back and forth.
I wish this as well, so tedious going back and forth to different screens. The redshirt screen is the worst lol.
Great stuff, thanks. So why do they even show the Skill point in the upper right if you can't interact with them? And how do we know where that Skill point will be alloted to?
Just so you can see that you are accruing them, it’s a way to track them.
I had 2 LG freshman both 3 stars 1 star trait 1 impact in the first season my impact guy grew 10 overall points n the impact only got 4 both wasn’t redshirted but didn’t start or play any games
Check their stat caps out, but end of season progression is unrelated to their development trait.
Not related, but have you seen any info or a video showing all the unique team turnover celebrations? Bama belt Pitt slam dunk etc. Some teams have props but there isn’t a list of which teams that I can find.
I have not
I really want to make a Talent Developer with Architect and let my coaches handle recruiting and motivator
And motivator too, that coach combo would have to make so many 99s lol
This makes it more frustrating there is no formation subs because it would really help to give a freshman a few packages
I think they just added that to the game.
@@PoodleGaming did they? when?
Excellent explanation
I tried my best, at first was scared it would be overwhelming and confusing.
@@PoodleGaming this is something EA should have explained prior to release
Dude. Great video. Nuff said
Dude. Thanks for the support!
great stuff, super helpful. note Durham is pronounced closer to dur-um.
lol someone mentioned this yesterday. Thank you for correcting me, been saying it wrong for weeks!
Finally a youtuber understands how it works 👌
Took a bit, but I finally have the dev system down pact.
@@PoodleGaming until the update atleast 😂 keep up the good work 👌
Wish we could see at least a few of the XP goals for our players to help them gain more xp.
Same, would make it a lot more transparent.
Can you please make a video on explaining why my players aren’t getting drafted after winning awards and national championships please. They have 90+ overalls as well
I will take a look at some point and see what I can find
do you think the ability under CEO about subtracting a skill cap for all rising seniors is worth it?
Yup, I’ve had Sr’s boost to 99 or near a lot because of this.
I think a lot of the abilities can be useful, just a matter of what you want to prioritize with your points
Who knew that these stat caps would be as if not more important than 5 Star ratings, gems to busts and even elite to normal development. Now I for one have to look at all of the players stat caps for assurance; if only there was a way to increase the players stat caps.
As far as I know, one of the CEO abilities “removes 1 ability cap for rising seniors”
I believe one of the coaching tree increases the caps
One of the coaches trees does this, not easy to get though, which I like.
Yeah stat caps are the most important thing in this game when it comes to development.
I had a 79 ovr Safety who got 13 picks as a freshman... with elite development trait... progress 0‐1 overall for his sophomore season. He did progress 4 overall to get to 83 tnroughout his freshman season. That's broken right there
The end of season development is random. It’s possible you gained 4 levels from XP alone and then didn’t get any off season movement.
Clicked on this vid by accident but can we acknowledge the Western Michigan Broncos dubbing over the buckeyes 😂
Lol
The fact there is a ceiling sucks. I also didn’t know the computer auto spent the skill points
The ceiling at least ads some variability to the equation. Yes, they auto upgrade.
What was the coin or whatever that thing is with the number next to it on the player card on the top right corner of the screen? I was looking at player cards on my roster and my Senior 92 OVR CB on Kentucky had 2 instead of zero
If your elite player is constantly threatening to transfer, he’ll hardly grow- probably because he’s unhappy
You think so? I haven’t tested this?
How heavily does playing time impact a players progression also how does redshirting affect a players progression?
Playing time impacts them a good amount because you need to play to accrue XP and skill points.
So all this information is for after the season? Like they dont improve during the season?
appreciate the info
Any time! Thanks for showing support!
Do you follow team needs when recruiting? Sorry for the unrelated question it’s the first video saw. Can you see stat caps when recruiting?
I do best available first (that are interested), I do keep team needs in mind when rounding out my board tho.
You can’t see stat caps until the player is on your team.
Recruiting is such a fun aspect of the game. So why can’t we scout the cap levels of a player during the process to get some kind of hint at their overall potential? Missed opportunity there … in reality, we are playing the lottery in what is dealt for a player’s ceiling.
I guess it’s basically like real life, you know how well a player is at that moment, but you don’t know their true ceiling.
So what’s the best one to get to to develop your overall quicker?
What’s the best what?
Definitely combining motivator and architect
Great video
Thanks for the support, appreciate the comment!
Did they patch the ability to change your coach pipeline ? So if I take a new job say Colorado St after I was at Kennesaw, when I leave for Colorado State, in my mind it makes sense to switch to Colorado pipeline. Also how on earth do you get the higher pipelines and more of them
I haven’t checked that yet. Is it not working for you? Only way to improve your pipelines is to buy the pipeline coaching packages.
@@PoodleGaming thank you I will take a look. I have found your videos VERY helpful!
Lots of indepth stuff about traits and such I never considered
I've got a RS FR 76 OVR TE with star development but under the ratings tab he's showing maxed out. Anyone seen this? Will he not get any better?
He probably won’t, NCAA 25 values blocking TE archetype those seem to be the ones that hit high 80s low 90s after you get past the real TEs in the game
If he’s near maxed out then he probably won’t increase much.
@@kyj060792facts lol. You have to hope the guy speed is respectable
Thank you so much.
You’re welcome, glad I could help!
@@PoodleGaming Yesterday in my dynasty I notice that I don't have nay hours to schedule an visits for some players. Can you direct me to what I'm doing right or is it a glitch? I never experienced this in the first season. Thanks again.
Can you do a video on how to get players drafted?
I will at some point.
Thanks! Because I have a JR QB impact dev (record breaking stats and x2 heisman), SR WR that is an elite dev ( Record breaking stats), and a JR WR that is a normal dev (record breaking stats and heisman winner). With many more players with good devs and stats. However, it is projecting me to have one 1st rounder, one 2nd rounder, and etc.
Have you tested the thing that randomly gives them an opportunity to exceed their cap? It seems that may be better than at first glance - just wondering what the % is
I haven’t tested the ability much yet, although I plan to at some point.
I have made a dynasty and got all of the architect 4/4 except hb and kicker, the highest I got my team to was a 95 ovr on offense and defense that’s also with 3/4 in motivator on all positions except k/p
@@onealjones318were the individual players developing though?
So you don’t apply the skill points toward certain attributes? It will automatically do it by itself…?
Yes it’s all automatic in CFB 25
They will still develop, you just wont be accruing in-game xp season one.
Have you done a video on when to redshirt?
Yes, it’s my redshirt strategies guide.
Caps are so goofy like they work for the first few seasons but by year 4 and beyond play ratings are so...weird. Talent pools are spread thin and no one seems to progress at all.
Really? I haven’t experimented that many years down the line.
So do you have to go into each player and use the skill points yourself?
No. The players auto upgrade on their own, unlike in madden where you manually do it.
What if you have a Senior playing ahead of your newly recruited Elite Dev Freshman. If you redshirt the Freshman so they get the maximum amount of Reps/ stats during the following RS Freshmen season does that stunt any progression?
What i’d do is play the redshirt freshman 4 games during their freshman year to get them some easy XP against bad opponents.
Are the stat cap 100% random or are they star based? It'd be annoying but I'd get it understand needing to check all my roster.
It seems slightly random, but I’d like to think that 4/5 star players are more likely to have better caps.
Is there anyone a players archetype can chance ? For whatever reason anytime a position change happens the archetype changes. For example if you change qb to another position and then back he will be scrambler no matter what. WR will be threat which is a positive but the RB will be receiving back which is obviously awful
You can only do it with position changes
@@PoodleGaming thought so. Crazy thing is like if you have elusive back and change position and then immediately switch back he will be a receiving back and lose shifty side step etc
Nice video og
Thanks for the support, I appreciate it!
I have all the offseason training boosts and my elite QB goes up one overall
The variance can be annoying at times. Anyone else go up?
Is it true CPU always upgrades the easiest attribute to upgrade, and slowly makes their way up?
I’m not sure about this, but I could see that being the case.
Can a player develop a physical trait if he doesn't have one or certain traits?
The traits he has are the ones he will always have. When checking physical and mental. If you go to physical you can see the locked one he can get.
Do you know how does your player get the impact player star, had a freshman qb win player of the year & a chip and the next season he didn’t have the impact player star.
I think it’s overall based on/ captain
@@PoodleGaming I made a usc dynasty & I had a real nil player mid 70’s wr#19 he didn’t play for 4 yeas then on his senior year 89 ovr impact star player with no pt ??? How
So if I’m a HC elite recruiter should I just fire my coordinators and hire one elite tactician and one motivator ?
The bonuses can stack, so that’s up to you and how you’d like to round out your bonuses.
@@PoodleGaming I play with Georgia so recruiting is pretty easy. But I want my players to get better in season and offseason to 99 ovr so what should I prioritize?
