Captain Joe so all headsets are the pilot's own? all airlines and types? or is it just a personal choice but the company will provide a standard no frills model?
@Austrian279 I don't think that anybody thinks a commercial airliner has that...I think you just have some really dumb friends that watch too many badly made action movies...
I used to want to be a pilot when I was younger.. If I saw these videos 30 years ago I would have been a completely different person. These videos really rub off a sense of what the job entails and what it's like. Both the good and the bad.
George Joseph thats weird because the planes i’ve been to are AC 12 volt sockets. Those cannot charge an ipad. They can just about power a lightbulb. Because in the cockpit there are AC 12 volts its hard to charge anything. You’d need an adapter. So to charge an 128 volt ipad charger follow these steps: 1. Smuggle an adapter past security 2. Get it on the airplane 3. Drown the loud noise of the adapter 4. Dont cause suspicion. Or if you find a way to connect your power directly to the DC power batteries or to the APU when running, witch is frankly much harder
A tip from the maritime industry, keep your legal documents (passport, licensing, medical, etc) in a ziplock bag. If you get the air out before sealing, you can fold it up so it takes up no more room than the documents themselves. Not only does it keep them all together, but it's one more layer of water protection if your bag/person gets wet. Keep your home document copies in a fire safe or in a safe deposit box, again, things happen. Also, if you guys (and gals) have as many various required documents as we do at sea (passport, license, industry credential, security ID, international training standard document, radio license, etc, etc) then a spread sheet of documents and their expiration dates, earliest renewal date, and such can prevent an "oh BLEEEP" moment!
On the printed pages and EFB he probably blurred out sensitive information. But I highly doubt that the logo on the back of his high visibility vest is that secret. ;-) Everybody knows where he works so i laughed when I saw the blurred logo.
Opsec! you're gonna need more than a lanyard to to blend in as ground crew if you dont belong. But a high vis with the right logo will keep an intruder from looking suspicious at a distance. Can someone just take a picture in the terminal? Probably, But Joe is making sure its not his video thats the source :p

I forgot to bring spare batteries for my A20 headset once, during flight the noise canceling turned OFF and after an annoyingly loud 2 hour flight I now NEVER fly without at least 4 new batteries somewhere in my bag! Also a tip for general aviation pilots who fly at night. If you are looking for a LED flashlight, try getting one with an additional red light function which is much easier on your eyes and doesn't destroy your night vision both during pre-flight and reading something in the aircraft during flight. :)
good luck with carrying 4 batteries they are 100% gonna trip the metal detector also did you plan to do some gaming on that flight if you did and you played cs go and and you were on ct and the bomb planted bit after the headphones died and it announced bomb has been planted
I’ve done this before. The Bose are awesome when they work. But you wanna slap something when the NC stops working. I always pack spare batteries on my flight bag because of this.

My all aluminum luggage (cabin S) are not only extremely well engineered & constructed German made quality, it looks great! It get compliments all the time from people in the airport & colleagues as well. It was expensive (over 1000 dollars) but its worth it.
Very very good advice Capt. When it comes to “work” tools, it’s very important to not go cheap. There is the difference between inexpensive and cheap. No need to buy expensive stuff but it has to be quality. Good call on the good pen. Amazing how such a simple inexpensive little tool can mess up a multi million $ operation. Thanks again!
For those who can't wait... Pilots can't wear polarized sunglasses because the windscreen of the aircrafts is already polarized. If you wear polarized sunglasses, the pilot can't see the sparkle of light that reflects from other objects with shiny surfaces, such as another aircraft. Sorry for the spoiler
Actually, if the cockpit windows are polarized as well, you won't be able to see anything at all. Two polarization filters that aren't aligned are effectively a window blind.
Most of the LCD screens are also polarized. I had polarized diopter glasses and whenever I had to work at PC I had to use non-polarized ones :-D Every screen has different align of polarization. Sometimes there was almost no change in view, but in some cases I seen just black screen
Also the newer airplanes like the A350 for instance and also some Boeing planes have now heads up displays and with polarized sunglasses you can't see the projected writing on them.
Emergency kit: I recommend having two €50 notes in there instead of a single €100 note, in case you end up in Ireland. Yes, the green one is legal tender here in Ireland too, but there are many places that are reluctant to accepting bigger denominations than €50. When I still used paper in the cockpit, a pencil would never fail. Staedler makes a nice one. If you have to sign something on the ground, just use one of the 500 hotel pens you have (don't play coy, pilots are incapable of leaving a hotel without taking all the pens). I still keep a pencil in my pocket but I use a stylus and our EFB for 99% of cockpit writing.
I am not a pilot but work closely in the industry. A little while ago some of the Boeing guys popped by and gave us a little corporate goodie bag. The usual tat (lanyards, keyrings, notebooks etc) but they also had an interesting pencil that had about 12 spare leads. The pen was surprisingly heavy too. When we queried, we were told that the pen and pencil (and notebook) were part of the kit that Boeing provides to its test pilots as well as options for first-tier pilots. I can't comment about the pen but the pencil was fantastic. It has lasted me 10 years, two of which I used it exclusively while draughting engineering drawings.

In my bag's emergency compartment, I have 2 pcs of pain-killers, just in case I get a terrible headache due to fatigue or lack of proper sleep. On the other hand, I save on underwear. Three-stripes is a First Officer. It takes around 12 years in an airline to be promoted to four-stripes Captain with his own command in the left hand seat. (PS Just responding to a comment, not nitpicking the channel name.)
I wear polarized sunglasses and I can say although they’re great for cutting out any glare while driving, in flying, the polarized lenses would cut out the view of the instrument panels.
I watched his video on sunglasses a while ago and i'm pretty sure he said the windows up there are already polarized so you would get blacked out visibility if you tilted your head right while wearing polarized glasses.
Have the issue with my car to..the same sh... ,got rainbow on the side windows and on the displays, but at least they don't get black. For driving in the sun I got my self some welding glasses, they do their job fine 😊 . Funny story buying a train ticket...I could see the background of the display, but not the buttons...I was loudly complaining, later I remembered, the sunglasses

Sobanah Soba at least in the USA 🇺🇸 you can wear them as long as the vision is corrected to 20/20 with them. You get a limitation on your medical that allows it. I have it on my medical certificate.

Okay, stupid question time... for the purpose of supplying one's own headset, is it acceptable to use a cable adapter and a high-end wired gaming headset (professionalism aside; I'm just curious about the physical possibility, given the fact that the above would be but a temporary solution)? Or is that beyond stupid, and not even worth chuckling at?

On the other hand, I save on underwear. I can survive 2 days in the same underware. Yes, it's disgusting, but survivable. At least for me. Not for the captain though.
in 3:44 in the paper is english and under the english greek!!!i am from Greece
Sto venizelos tha itan
And where is the parachute?
The parachute i think weighs around 45 kg and it might damage the wheels of the suitcase thing
only necessary if you are a Ryanair pilot ;)
You pretty much described my flight bag to a tee Joe. Love your work! A couple of additions I have. A spare pair of socks. My knee board (which I find indispensable) and dunny paper....LOL (I’m a survey pilot)
I m a S.P.L(student pilot ) and i like watching captain joe hes my role model
on which place are you doing your training ? also after 12 did you go for your training?
I always find it hilarious when someone claims that the phone flash is a flashlight... My Fenix PD35 Tac is way brighter, even on low!
Please suggest about ear pains during landing.
10 Years a Pilot? You gonna be captain soon?
DeepSpace12 he is already a captain😂😂😂
Three-stripes is a First Officer. It takes around 12 years in an airline to be promoted to four-stripes Captain with his own command in the left hand seat. (PS Just responding to a comment, not nitpicking the channel name.)
or he can never be a captain :v
Shivam Rathore you need to do 7 to 8 thousands hours to become captain and also it depends on airline
Too bad airberlin got bankrupt
Hey you were in Greece, you singed a Greek typed form!
cghera You mean sang or signed? Lol
He meant signed
HAHA MB
Captain Joe and 74 Gear are the best pilots and help me learn more about aviation cause I’m obsessed with aviation thank you Captain Joe and 74 Gear
Joe , is there a mobile charger in your flight for charging your phones in the cockpit
Hy Captain Joe , Can you please talk about "aerosinutisis" , It is basically an extreme headache pain, which a person can feel during landing !
10 years? U are a legend. Congrats.
Can't find the cap on the website... All my students wish to purchase one Joe......
@@mammutMK2 It's because you have heat-absorbing windows. If your windshield is also heat-absorbing, there should be an area around the rear-view mirror that is not treated as it also lower GPS reception.
@@LeZouave your almost right...I applied window tint on my front side windows :-D
@@mammutMK2 at least tinting the windshield is allowed in your country.
THANKS IT HELPS ME A LOT I DON'T TAKE THAT MUCH MATERIAL BUT NOWADAYS I WILL TAKE I AM A PILOT OF AIRBUS A350 OF COMPANY AIR ASIA
I want to become a pilot, you are learning me so much! That’s why I just subbed! :D
6:39 My eyes hurt just by looking at it.
i'm a pilot student(PPL) and captain joe's videos really helps
hopefully next year i will be like you and i have some questions so if you may i ask you please :)
3:42 How was your trip to Greece?!
Could you please do a video on how to get used to the plane you’re flying and how to do a good precheck.
When ever I see this man I see passion in him.
I love your ways @captainJoe
Make a video to say the most dangerous airports in the world!
Congrats On 200K Joe, I throughly enjoy watching your videos, you deserve each and one of those subs :) can't wait for you to primarily hit 1M subs very soon :)
His method of advertising the shop 😂😂 I love it
Can I wear glasses to be pilot?
Sobanah Soba at least in the USA 🇺🇸 you can wear them as long as the vision is corrected to 20/20 with them. You get a limitation on your medical that allows it. I have it on my medical certificate.
etian contreras I have -1.50. Can I become a pilot in India ?
Navèn Patidar I don’t know the rules in India. But I do know that they are ICAO so the rules should be either the same or more strict in some areas.
@@naveenpatidar3328 actually that depends on the specific condition that you have in your eyes. For example, if you have nearsightedness you have something like -5.0 to 5.0 diopters limit but if you have estigmatism you can only have a maximum of -2.0 to 2.0
Contact lenses or you're fired!
4:49 can i use my gaming headset instead of a20?
nextFauzindo eh i think you would get some sort of hearing damage from that XD
No! It is a different frequency!
Now I know what to bring in my first flight all I need now is to enroll , graduate and become a pilot . Its better to be ready .
I always wanted to be a pilot❤ I'm gonna take flying school soon
Captain Price same
Me too
Not a pilot; but a auto mechanic. Out of all the flashlights I have used, streamlight stinger is the best. LED, Very bright, comes with a spare battery and charging cradle.
I've seen this video like 4 times and I still manage to forget something on my next flight.
Do you wear your custom made earplugs even with your headset on
Captain Joe and those plane decor on the wall look so good. ❤
regarding the Headphone video, could you pls explain what Impedance means. thx.
You were at Air Berlin? The Airline was wonderful.
#AIRBERLINFOREVER
You are from Germany right?
Thanks for the video Joe. I'm going to start flight training soon. I'm a certified A&P mechanic in the United States and I'm getting my pilots license to enhance my knowledge and potentially fly commercially in the future. Your awesome Joe!
Let all get our first pilot bag...but I'm doing different courses 😂
