I posted that HED wheel vid where I used your lacing technique for the NDS. I didn't link since I don't want to self-promote. It saved a few minutes! Thanks!
No worries mate 👍 feel free to self promote anytime. You gave it ago, so always pass on the knowledge when possible. I'm glad I could pass on a little something 😎 cheers mate 👍
This is the Shimano disc lacing standard. I'm going to try it this way today since I have a lower spoke-count hub. I appreciate this so here's a sub, like and comment. Thanks, gent!
@@hobbybike51 awesome. I am so happy I can be off some help for people watching my videos. It is absolutely epic you gave it a go. Hope you have a fantastic Christmas!
Great video. I recently built my first wheel following Roger Musson's book, it was actually easier than I expected. Smart how you insert both key spokes first, I might try that on my next build.
Awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Definitely give it a go. I have tried all ways of building wheels and found it the easiest way due to not having to fight spokes as both sides are built at the same time. Let me know how you get on when you try it 👍.
Can rims accept any thickness of nipple and spoke? There aren't rims that only accept one size right? Do the internal nipple threads stay the same size, but the other diameter changes, or are you meant to use the appropriate nipple size for the spoke thickness? Sorry for the dumb questions but I've never seen these addressed in wheel building videos.
Hi, you can get different sized nipples some ebikes use a larger nipple and spoke for strength. In nere all cases on standard wheels regardless of weather its an mtb or road wheel the external size of the nipple is the same as in what sits in the rim but the spoke gage and threads of the nipple can be a few different sizes for example 1.8 or 2.0 just to name two. So make sure you always have the right nipples and spokes. However, if you have a hub and rim, you can essentially use either 1.8 spokes and nipples or 2.0 spoke and nipples. Generally comes down to matching the nipples to the spokes. Think I have explained that right. Any other questions, feel free to ask, and remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to anything bikes as there are so many standards in the industry. 👍

This video is a great way to learn to build a wheel at home: previously, I had only been able to build wheels in a hotel.
Thank you for watching and for the comment.
Now I feel bad for being sarcastic. Best wishes, Simon@@BikeShedBoy
@SimonHarlow please dont feel bad. I was going to reply with a sarcastic comment. I loved your comment, which made me smile 🤣 thank you.
If not phrased properly, the algo no show the vid and creators won't get their pennies. Lame!🤣

@@BikeShedBoy Worked great! I normally do both spokes around the valve hole first, but thanks for your version.

@@BikeShedBoy Check out what I do with wheels people toss or trash lol! Thanks and enjoy!

@@BikeShedBoy Thanks for taking time to answer.
@@JohnSmith-ox7xc I will always help if I can mate 👍
Very clever how a wheel is built
Thanks for watching!
