Hey Skillcapped, is it bad that i use Caps and Tab button for targeting arena 123? I feel it works very well since my fingers rest on asdf. Would appreciate feedback 😃
When i was still playing wow, i only had a mouse with two extra buttons, which i binded to "Ctrl" and "Alt" (with Xbuttonmousecontrol) since "shift" was easy to reach on its own. Those two Keys tripled the number of easy to reachable keybinds.
Words can’t explain how much of a godsend this idea is. I’m a new Wow player and the amount of keybinds is overwhelming me. I believe you just saved my entire game haha
@@Asav808 i used the program Xbuttonmousecontrol or mousecontrolbutton (i don't remember exactly) which you should find trough Google or you search for something similar. The program itself was pretty straightforward and intuitive.
@@shvansee216 In my case i just use Razer Central to edit my keyboards functions, so if you have a gaming keyboard whatever app you use for it should allow you to change the bind. if not there are Registry editors you can download that allow you to easily change a key's function without having to dig in to deep.
i have most comfortable keybinding for myself because i have small hands. nice video just some quick notes 1. adjust action bar layouts and size. most important cooldowns like Evasion, or Avenging wrath you should see without even looking, so place them front-center and maybe increase size so you always know when and if it is available. Abilities without CD like Mutilate or Arcane blast can be in the botom corner, 1mm x 1mm in size for all you care because they are always available. 2. if using mouse with aditional buttons like Razor Naga, adjust the shape of the action bar to match the shape of the layout on your mouse. My mouse has 4 rows in 3 lines, so if I adjust the action bar to it`s shape, i know what to press just by looking at it. This is really for the begginers, maybe for starting an alt, or if you just bought new mouse with new layout, .....before you just memorise what is where. 3. if making layout for new class, or maybe coming from different MMO, put similar abilities on keybinds you are used to. For instance i have Kick on "R" key, when i play paladin I put Rebuke on "R" key, when on Mage i put counterspell on "R" key...... and so on. "R" has been my kick button since tBC when i transitioned from beeing a noob and stoped mouseclicking my action bar and now my brain is hardwired to using it without thinking about it
Really useful comment. Thanks. Related to your points number 2 & 3, I did this with my action bars in the layout of my keyboard. The visual correspondence of the layout has been super helpful to me in exactly the same way that going 3x4 helps you with the naga key layout. Rather than keeping my home position on wasd, though, I shifted everything to the center of the keyboard. My left-hand fingers rest on F,G,H,J, and the only modifier I use is on the right-side of the keyboard, using my left-hand thumb. Other than my pinky tab-targeting with the "D" key, and every other left-hand finger is just one or 2 buttons reach from all my abilities. This works really well, in part, because I never have to negotiate the 'jump here to use the movement finger to press something else while in mid air' tactic, and also in part due to each key being 2 abilities: for one ability, and for another ability. Admittedly, this is a radical departure from conventional layout & keybind perspectives. However, It's a layout that easily maps between damage dealing classes (I don't heal or tank, so maybe there are some drawbacks in those roles). The down side is that my movement is entirely via mouse: double-buttons to move forward & turn, and mouse 3 & 4 to strafe. This is surprisingly adequate in most situations, but pillar-hugging/peeking behavior is slower for me because strafe is mouse 3 & 4, on the left side of the mouse. Frankly, my thumb just isn't dexterous enough for me to do the high-speed strafe movement that keyboard strafers get by using 2 fingers and 2 strafe buttons. Sadly, my existing layout is so second-nature by now that trying to put strafe buttons back onto the mix (G & J seem the most sensible buttons for strafe in my current layout) displaces 4 abilities (G, alt G, J, alt J) that just don't feel easily relocated to buttons that aren't already used for other things. I think if I could remap the 'menu' button on my keyboard (between ALT and CTR on the right side) as a 2nd modifier (either as SHFT or CTRL), that could solve my problem -- at least in theory. So far, I haven't figured out how to do this. It's complicated by the fact that I play WoW on linux, so there isn't any keyboard-specific software that will remap my keyboard as can be done under windows). Hopefully as I learn my way around linux, I'd figure out how to remap the keyboard only when playing WoW and then... well... I'll be about as happy as I can be from a binding & layout perspective :)
@@dmitriytitov4116 I find that using the keyboard to move and use abilities means that any time I'm trying to move, the finger that's holding down the strafe key cannot do anything else unless... I stop moving. Since each finger on the keyboard controls a minimum of 6 abilities, this means that if I'm strafing left, the finger holding down the strafe key can't use any of it's 6 abilities unless I first stop moving. This just feels like a disadvantage to me. Do you strafe with your keyboard? If so, how do you deal with the scenario where you're moving but want to use the abilities that the strafe-key finger usually uses?
@RichardHarlos Most of my commonly used abilities are bound on X, C, V, F, G, I press them with my thumb, also 2 mouse buttons. "B" is for bags right now, but I'm considering to bind bags somewhere else. It's like if FPS games my peek buttons are V and B so I can move freely while peeking.
@@dmitriytitov4116 Interesting. I think you're the first person I've heard from who uses their thumb like that. Obviously it's working for you or you wouldn't do it. Or, maybe I'm just an old dog having a hard time teaching myself new tricks :)
Thanks Ezrael for the guidance! I developed a terrible habit many, many years ago of using bad keybinds. man you guys are on a whole other level. i just use my number pad. i mean, i still use all those other keys and mouse buttons too, but damn i can't follow all that. i would play even worse than i already do
My only critique of the keybind tier list is that, to be more specific, you should bind your most used damage or heal to the keys most comfortable for your index finger. This is because your index finger has more dexterity and is less likely to get fatigues from frequent use.. it is also a faster finger. In my case, for example, my filler/spam abilities are on bound to "4" on ALL of my characters. Sbolt/Souldrain on aff? 4! Mutilate/BS on rogue? 4! Starsurge? 4!, Chaos Strike? 4! the most spammed ability should be on the finger that will last the longest and react the fastest.
Given that rarely need to zoom in/out, I rebound those to Page Up/Down. Then similar to the video, used the wheel for changing focus, Shift Wheel for Party, and Ctrl Wheel for Kick/Stun/Etc. Focus.
@@pjtyra2106 no problem! It really helps keep all that stuff in an easy to remember location where you’re not trying to figure out which modifier etc to use.

I like using S and shift S for peel cuz walking backwards is slower for example on hunter I would have disengage on S and medallion on shift S, 12 button mmo mouse with shift as a modifier gives you 24 binds that don't effect what direction you run. i also use z x c v for mounts buff etc. and F for emergency heal and Tab Q E and R for targeting. mouse wheel for mobility like blink.
easy way to solve the sequence issue put abilities that are off GCD on your middle, fourth, pinky finger, or mouse then put abilities that are on GCD on your index finger
Would be nice if we got replacement keybinds for everything we unbound here. Also would be nice to learn more about utilizing all 12 buttons on an mmo mouse like the razer naga
Great video, I am struggling with keybinds on my Restro druid in Arena. Should I start with 1 macro for Target focus Cyclone or should I macro cyclone on focus arena target 1/2/3?
Why do none of the keybind guides mention gaming mice? I have a Logitech mouse with 12 side buttons. Literally all of my keybinds (I also use control and shift modifiers) are on the mouse. This leaves my left hand always free for movement, and I never have to stretch to hit an ability. Am I missing something?
Gaming mice have a learning curve took a while to get use to using 10 11 12 over time I become more adept just like learning to use a keyboard. I also find the game a lot more comfortable to play now.
To be honest i've had most success binding spells to the first letter in the spell. Like B for blink, P for polymorph, M for massdispell, Shift + H + L for heroic leap and so on
The more I watch the more I feel like the steam deck is best 😂 . The gamepad binds are super easy and you can press all quickly , especially with shifting the buttons . Plus steam deck has two trackpads u can quickly and easily mouse over to anything on screen
Good Tutorial but If we change mouse wheel for Arena targeting, how can I change camera zoom then? Because in some situations I like to see closer and in another I want to zoom out. Thanks
I use 1-5 and q,e,r,f,c,x,z and my mouse side buttons are shift and ctrl. I use my mouse scroll up and down for spells and I also can move my scroll wheel from side to side. I main disc priest
I am trying not to incorporate allllll the key binds at once. Mastering your rotation, positioning, and use of cds will boost your rating with the primary and most important “S” key binds within reach.
I have been playing wow for a long time. I just learned i have bad binds. I use too many shift or ctl modifiers. Can you do a video about dungen/raiding or is it similar binds?
Change space jump for space move right, this way you can move right and click skill the same time... not sure if this the best way, but for me is the only way to more right clicking skill the same time...
I bought a Corsair Scimitar elite and I keybinded my 1-9 skills to numblock 1-9 but in game all I see is num.... For all skills. Is there anyway to change these to N1 N2 N3 like that so I can see what the heck I'm doing? I'm new and just started playing.
I've been lacking all these years with arena 1 2 3 macros. Although I do have partner macros for my ret paladin as shift and alt keys on the same buttons as for myself with bop, bof, sac, cleanse, wog, flash etc. I'll try out that mouse wheel 1 2 3, but I also have a 12 button mouse that helps we with mostly cooldowns like stun, blind, kick, steed, bof, wog, wings, trinket, and mount. Just so many buttons...
I use the mousewheel for focus, Shift+Mousewheel for target, and then Ctrl Mousewheel for Stun/Kick and whichever for Focus. It made a huge difference and was pretty much intuitive after a handful of matches.
I don't know if this is mostly for pvp, since I'm never in pvp, so I don't know if that's where it's most used. But know that I'm almost always at the top of dps and don't use a single keybind. Uses arrow keys to move me and the mouse to click on abilities. And funnily enough I'm always the fastest (first) to move out of trash on the ground (in pve) Now we don't have to make the game what it is, actually no need for all that keybind and 200 add'ons so the whole screen is plastered full so you can't see anything
In vanilla classic I had to use alt, control, and shift modifiers for all my binds and looking back it was kinda miserable. Shaman would oom super easily so it was important to have binds for your rank 1 shock spells which resulted in having a million binds on top of all the totems and everything else. 🎉
B key is goat I swear Ice block, bubble and stuff on that key for me that's fire. away so i dont press it by accident but not that far considering how i position my key board, so i can reach each easily
I don't understand what people find so much better regarding strafing on a and d. I have keyboard turn still on there after 10+ years, because I control my char and camera with holding rightclick. Holding rightclick makes a and d change to strafe and I can still use turning for occasional stuff.
F is always my oh shit button as it is the fastest to get to. 2 would serve frostbolt more that an instant as you would have to take your finger off of W to press it.
Hi there. I push in pvp. I have a DH. Damn, I didn't look up the piority of the stats. All my stuff is Hastes and I just realized that I need Mastery. Can I do something about this? Or can I start farming the stuff from the beginning? Thanks for the answers :)
So lets say your fighting a boss if you focus target the boss with the TAB key you could then change target multiple times and then press R and return you to targeting the boss. In key binds Focus target will select Target and Target focus will return you . Where as if you target something normally if you change target 3 times you wont be able to just press one button and return to the the target you originally had.
It still makes me doubt myself that i managed to hit 18k cr in shuffle preety smoothly but im still bearly 12k in 2v2 pugging with many many games... Very good tips tho! Really enjoying warrior this season.
you move your camera with right click like they did multiple times in the video. and by using this kind of movement you can even hit them while moving in the same direction while they are behind you (the jumping trick :p)
Extra notes to add is that you can strafe by just holding right mouse button A or D. and just drag your mouse. imo it gives more directional control than just straight strafe binds
I did no research or anything when i came to the conclusion how i should keybind. Still i have the exact same layout, and the same the logic of how to keybind. Haha, kinda funny.
i feel so awkward with keybinds, i would love to see split screen of gamepaly and the hands pressing the keyboard and mouse so i can see how its done. Im a clicker
It's like learning keys on a keyboard, it's all about repetition and muscle memory. I couldn't tell you what all my keys are bound to without looking, but when I sit down and start pressing, I know where they are all at. For reference I play with 28 keybinds on my Feral Druid.
dont forget kiddos, u also can use wheel scroll up and down wheel click, two side buttons! wait! how about camera distance? well, you can key bind camera distance to like shift + scroll or alt+scroll
If you want to pvp seriously (or do anything well unless you're maybe a pve tank), move with asd only. Backpeddling is slower, useless, worse in every way, takes more mental ram than just moving forward all the time. Casting at what you're running from? Strafe away from them, they're still in your character's fov on the left or right. W is an op keybind for abilities, removes the veritcal staggering of movement key and feels far superior once you are used to it. Dont knock it til you try it, a well guarded pro tip of high rated arena players.
In fact after watching this video I would rate their advice 2.5/5 stars, sounds like the script was written by a 1400 solo shuffler. 6 movement keys suggested is particularly ridiculous. If you're looking to get into pvp this isn't the best guide they have, lol...
What about people who play WASD and have a 16+ button mouse. All my keybinds are on my mouse. But since SL and DF are so button mashy and high APM my hand and wrist kill me playing most classes.
Okay, so what about those of us that have been using the mouse to move for so many years that changing to WASD is NOT possible? My right hand is SO dominant that making this change is never going to happen. I use my left to cast spells and ccs, and I use my right hand to move my toons and whatever movement abilities I have depending on the class (Shimmer, Aspect of the Cheetah, Disengage, etc...) I have ALL the classes and I play quite a few of them in PVP.

just unbound my turn left/right keys and changed them to strafe instead, thanks!
I play on steam deck with the gamepad addon with the action camera and this is still good information 👍
The more I watch the more I feel like the steam deck is best 😂 . The gamepad binds are super easy and you can press all quickly , especially with shifting the buttons . Plus steam deck has two trackpads u can quickly and easily mouse over to anything on screen
Gotta love those Jeff Cavaliere's references
Good Tutorial but If we change mouse wheel for Arena targeting, how can I change camera zoom then? Because in some situations I like to see closer and in another I want to zoom out. Thanks
Shift modifier ?
You can use shift + mouse wheel up to zoom in and shift + mouse wheel down to zoom out :)
Nice, thank you for this.
I use 1-5 and q,e,r,f,c,x,z and my mouse side buttons are shift and ctrl. I use my mouse scroll up and down for spells and I also can move my scroll wheel from side to side. I main disc priest
can u keybind a normal letter + mouseubtton for example? doeqsn work for me
All movement on mouse, left and right click to move forward, 2 buttons on my mouse is strafe frees up left hand for abilities
I am trying not to incorporate allllll the key binds at once. Mastering your rotation, positioning, and use of cds will boost your rating with the primary and most important “S” key binds within reach.
Jeff Cavalier key binds equally for both hands to avoid muscle imbalances
I've been grouping my keybinds like this for years. I've also been using F1-F4, but that is very dependant on the keyboard.
I have been playing wow for a long time. I just learned i have bad binds. I use too many shift or ctl modifiers. Can you do a video about dungen/raiding or is it similar binds?
5:45 can anyone tell me that transmog please ?
Change space jump for space move right, this way you can move right and click skill the same time... not sure if this the best way, but for me is the only way to more right clicking skill the same time...
How do you keybind to mousebuttons on an MMO mouse?
im just holding down right mouse bottom 24/7.. and it turns ad into strafe. no big deal ;D then have other binds on e and q
Do all these key binds not include if one has a mouse with 16 programmable buttons?
I bought a Corsair Scimitar elite and I keybinded my 1-9 skills to numblock 1-9 but in game all I see is num.... For all skills. Is there anyway to change these to N1 N2 N3 like that so I can see what the heck I'm doing? I'm new and just started playing.
Holy pala guide when? Or even updated healer tier list
Hey SkillCapped.
Is there any Option in something like getting a Couch by my side? Juat interested
Ya I just splurged for a Tartarus. Thumbstick movement leaves all 4 of my other fingers free for keys. Now I don’t know how to play without it lol
Also Evokers can use their glide ability to get back on a platform when the opponent attempts to knock them off.
And funnily enough I'm always the fastest (first) to move out of trash on the ground (in pve)
Now we don't have to make the game what it is, actually no need for all that keybind and 200 add'ons so the whole screen is plastered full so you can't see anything
With both D and F used for spell what button do u even use for strafe right?
E
In vanilla classic I had to use alt, control, and shift modifiers for all my binds and looking back it was kinda miserable.
Shaman would oom super easily so it was important to have binds for your rank 1 shock spells which resulted in having a million binds on top of all the totems and everything else. 🎉
Classic sucks 😂
So running w the mouse is best?
is there another video for indepth macros??? that part of the video went right over my head lol
whats the best keyboard for wow?
B key is goat I swear
Ice block, bubble and stuff on that key for me
that's fire. away so i dont press it by accident
but not that far considering how i position my key board, so i can reach each easily
I jump a lot because I move forward with left/right-click. Been doing this since before Cata and don't think I could go back to W.
I don't understand what people find so much better regarding strafing on a and d. I have keyboard turn still on there after 10+ years, because I control my char and camera with holding rightclick. Holding rightclick makes a and d change to strafe and I can still use turning for occasional stuff.
F and shift F for kick/focus kick is the best interrupt keybind and i wont be told otherwise
I use that one as well.
F-Stealth G-Vanish H-Prep for second vanish J-Meld K-/afk macro use one by one and your raiting will be fine
Conquest will be uncapped soon so you can buy all the gear pieces you need to change in a day if you commit :)
1:06
Wild how strafe bind fanatics have never heard of right click before lmao
wait so what hotbar binds go where???
Please skill capped could you link the copy of the UI of the mage? I really liked it and I got to change mine. 👍🙏
Sorry for bad english
whats the difference between focus and target?
So lets say your fighting a boss if you focus target the boss with the TAB key you could then change target multiple times and then press R and return you to targeting the boss.
In key binds Focus target will select Target and Target focus will return you .
Where as if you target something normally if you change target 3 times you wont be able to just press one button and return to the the target you originally had.
@@sowts5157 ah ok ty
And what is with left hands?
It still makes me doubt myself that i managed to hit 18k cr in shuffle preety smoothly but im still bearly 12k in 2v2 pugging with many many games...
Very good tips tho! Really enjoying warrior this season.
So intimidated to do 5 as a healer… so used to clique and mouseover macros
Well how do you turn when ur casting a spell and someone is behind u
you move your camera with right click like they did multiple times in the video. and by using this kind of movement you can even hit them while moving in the same direction while they are behind you (the jumping trick :p)
@@wowvain2989 thanks man
Extra notes to add is that you can strafe by just holding right mouse button A or D. and just drag your mouse. imo it gives more directional control than just straight strafe binds
That’ll limit your camera control while strafing though.
Mmm what about if you're left handed! I use the number pad with my right had
Right now my windwalker is 2400 and my mage is 2200, I have standard movement keys and still click some of my abilities lol
Because none of these tips or guides actually matter. It's literally legacy skill or play a different game.
I feel like the "younger players" are whats needed to keep wow alive lmao
I did no research or anything when i came to the conclusion how i should keybind. Still i have the exact same layout, and the same the logic of how to keybind. Haha, kinda funny.
I'm playing on the steam deck so I'll see how this works out
I feel like I'll never get used to not using turn and strafe...
That UI though. It’s basically a spreadsheet lol. How can someone arena like that?
anyone else notice how the druid missed the typhon xD
i feel so awkward with keybinds, i would love to see split screen of gamepaly and the hands pressing the keyboard and mouse so i can see how its done. Im a clicker
It's like learning keys on a keyboard, it's all about repetition and muscle memory. I couldn't tell you what all my keys are bound to without looking, but when I sit down and start pressing, I know where they are all at. For reference I play with 28 keybinds on my Feral Druid.
learning how to play wow is the same difficulty as learning a musical instrument
Razer naga for 10 years now and thank go i did 😂
I'm 42 and to be honest ~40 buttons is overwhelming.
dont forget kiddos, u also can use wheel scroll up and down wheel click, two side buttons!
wait! how about camera distance?
well, you can key bind camera distance to like shift + scroll or alt+scroll
Why not a naga mouse?
using naga with my big hands is miserable
can u just tell me where to put the buttons
gj ty
What about people who play WASD and have a 16+ button mouse. All my keybinds are on my mouse. But since SL and DF are so button mashy and high APM my hand and wrist kill me playing most classes.
How to make buffs icons next to nickplates
I use
Q W E
A. D
S
As my main attacks and then others around it as stuff I use less often
And 3 to move forward or hold both mouse buttons
Same
Okay, so what about those of us that have been using the mouse to move for so many years that changing to WASD is NOT possible? My right hand is SO dominant that making this change is never going to happen. I use my left to cast spells and ccs, and I use my right hand to move my toons and whatever movement abilities I have depending on the class (Shimmer, Aspect of the Cheetah, Disengage, etc...) I have ALL the classes and I play quite a few of them in PVP.
