    Welcome to Chasing Latitudes! Have you ever imagined the smell of the ocean air as your boat crashes through the waves? The freedom that comes from casting off the bow lines and heading out to sea to explore new places you can’t reach by car or airplane? Then this channel is for you.
    You will not see white sand beaches here, restaurant reviews, beach parties, selfies or Japanese knives. What you will find is factual information based on decades of sailing experience.
    My channel is specifically meant for one thing and one thing only, to help YOU find your new to you fancy-dancy yacht of your dreams and get on the water in the fastest, most time efficient manner.
    Don’t get caught up in looking at old boats! I focus on mostly newer vessels, built in 2000 or later because I want you to spend as much of your time as possible sailing, not practicing your restoration skills on an old boat attempting to bring it to its former glory.
    You want to take advantage of the amazing newer technology and modern hull designs when it comes to sailing. This is going to make your vessel far easier to sail solol or short handed and make them far more comfortable and efficient to live aboard full time or even just weekenders without buying more boat than you need.
    I offer a wide variety of services including consulting where I will take you through the entire process of how to budget properly, choosing what vessel size will work for your needs, what type of vessel, I will help you shop for vessels, determine offer prices, schedule surveys, talk with brokers, teach you how to do your own pre-survey, walk you through hiring the correct surveyor and help you avoid all of the common pitfalls that you will find when purchasing used sailing vessels.
    The consulting does not stop there, I will be with you every step of the way and long after you have purchased your vessel as consulting also comes with lifetime access to the members area,.
    Chasing Latitudes hosts a large, active private members area where the members are more than happy to offer their own experience to solve problems, host private videos for ASA Sailing quizzes (ASA 101, 103, & 104), and live stream videos which feature anything from member cruising to boat shopping, boat comparisons, and other live content with chat from the subscribers to my RUclips channel and channel members.
    It’s time for YOU to get on the water. Come aboard!

    Good advise, as usual. I would also mention that large mono hull are a handful. You have make you sure to have electric winches all around and a bow thruster. Unfortunately for me, I like catamaran. I want to live on the first floor, not in the basement.

    Love the channel, you make me laugh. But, the pricing you are using is the ask price, not reflective of the actual transactional prices for similar boats. Any chance you could incorporate that data too? Then we'd know how badly the market is crashing ;)

    Just registered for free on your web site. You know what your talking about, I like that. How do I ask you some preliminary questions? Like for example (lets use Beneteau 38.1model ex-charter for instance) a) I'm in Chicago, how do I get this boat on Lake Michigan? b) What is typical boat price depreciation per year for a 2011-2019 aged boat in question? c) What kind of time do I need to allocate for the purchase through delivery? Thanks again for the great info.

    What would be good things to trade fisherman in the Bahama's for lobster? I'd imagine there would be products they can't get or have to pay big dollars for but in the US are cheap. Thought this might be a good subject.

    • @darktechnologyjoeramirez4252
      @darktechnologyjoeramirez4252 5 месяцев назад +1

      As a commercial lobster fisherman from the West Coast I recommend trying to trade beers and maybe a steak dinner that would get my attention as a lobster fisherman. And the key thing to do is to make the trade while you're on the water not when you are in the harbor 🤪

    I’m on the Great Lakes. Seems like there are less boats for sale than ever so it’s difficult to feel like prices are coming down.
    From what I am seeing no discounting due to supply and demand I suppose.

    Chris it never seems possible to get a full and complete survey. When the boats in the water great you get rigging and engine along with the boat top side and interior. No one seems open to taking the boat out of the water then to complete the survey. Leaves me wondering what’s best a survey while the boat is out of the water or in?

  • @jackchamberlain5993
    @jackchamberlain5993 5 месяцев назад +1

    Definitely liked the video, ,but in your imaginary march north up the Caribbean in the previous video, I would never stop over near Saba, not a decent place to anchor. I lived there for almost two years and I always looked forward to getting off that island when I could do it, It is best just to go on to St.Martin, just 28 more miles. I am sure that it was just some random clicking on Google Earth, not what you would really do. I thought the K guy would get a comment, lets face it, anyone shooting video in his basement office talking from behind a desk for three years is going to be at least a bit suspicious. I am just wondering if he has ever heard of Practical Sailor.

    Crashing market? Just because a bunch of individual boats for sale reduce their prices doesn’t mean the market is crashing. That could just be normal process forever. You’d need to show a growing trend downward in prices paid for the same boats.

    • @user-nj2vv2xm4j
      @user-nj2vv2xm4j 5 месяцев назад +3

      Nope, not crashing yet, but it will. Give it a little time, the economy is getting worse every day.
