    Welcome to Chasing Latitudes! Have you ever imagined the smell of the ocean air as your boat crashes through the waves? The freedom that comes from casting off the bow lines and heading out to sea to explore new places you can’t reach by car or airplane? Then this channel is for you.
    You will not see white sand beaches here, restaurant reviews, beach parties, selfies or Japanese knives. What you will find is factual information based on decades of sailing experience.
    My channel is specifically meant for one thing and one thing only, to help YOU find your new to you fancy-dancy yacht of your dreams and get on the water in the fastest, most time efficient manner.
    Don’t get caught up in looking at old boats! I focus on mostly newer vessels, built in 2000 or later because I want you to spend as much of your time as possible sailing, not practicing your restoration skills on an old boat attempting to bring it to its former glory.
    You want to take advantage of the amazing newer technology and modern hull designs when it comes to sailing. This is going to make your vessel far easier to sail solol or short handed and make them far more comfortable and efficient to live aboard full time or even just weekenders without buying more boat than you need.
    I offer a wide variety of services including consulting where I will take you through the entire process of how to budget properly, choosing what vessel size will work for your needs, what type of vessel, I will help you shop for vessels, determine offer prices, schedule surveys, talk with brokers, teach you how to do your own pre-survey, walk you through hiring the correct surveyor and help you avoid all of the common pitfalls that you will find when purchasing used sailing vessels.
    The consulting does not stop there, I will be with you every step of the way and long after you have purchased your vessel as consulting also comes with lifetime access to the members area,.
    Chasing Latitudes hosts a large, active private members area where the members are more than happy to offer their own experience to solve problems, host private videos for ASA Sailing quizzes (ASA 101, 103, & 104), and live stream videos which feature anything from member cruising to boat shopping, boat comparisons, and other live content with chat from the subscribers to my RUclips channel and channel members.
    It’s time for YOU to get on the water. Come aboard!

    I like this sailing channel. No fuss and bs. Love the sharp tongue humor too.😂 Poor old Lady K. 😂

      I went into a yacht broker's office earlier this year with my Lady K education and tried to talk shop.... The broker literally said "I forgot, I have to meet my friend to walk our dogs" when I repeated something I heard Lady K say Jeanneau Sun Odyssey windows. He looked at me like I was nuts.....
      The ONLY reason Lady K has more followers than Chris, and I truly mean the only reason, is because he tells people what they want to hear instead of telling them the truth. Lady K's sole focus is increasing ad revenue instead of helping people make better decisions, and BSing his way into profits is his nature. A used car salesman.

    How about freshwater boats? The standing rigging lasts forever.

    That Catalina you did look at would also need to be moved 50 miles to get to the ocean

    Chris, I don't want to out your content but if you had to put your priorities in order would they be:
    1. LWL-LOA less that 5ft.
    2. Not older than 20 yr.
    3. General condition
    4. Standing rigging.
    5. Electronics.
    6. Is the buyer a patron?(OK, I did not have a #6.)

    A good marine water maker is $5,000. Got it. What about the $300-$600 countertop RO units? Can they not handle the sea water, or are they okay for a couple of years?

    Hey Chris what if your sailing plans are to be at anchor and not a marina. Does that change much on the boat? Does that make the 2003 Hunter 38 possible?

    I know this is an older video but I'm very new to boating I'm eventually wanting to buy a sailboat and I was wondering where can I learn how to become a better boat captain and what waters would be good practice for a beginner intermediate and expert captain or any recommendations on other RUclipsrs that really go into detail of how to become a better sailor

    • @ChasingLatitudes
      @ChasingLatitudes  3 месяца назад +1

      @blackwolf340 honestly time on the water is the only thing, the more you can be on boats the better you will get

    What if… I really like older quality “blue water” boats like a Brewer 44 over the newer boats? Am I mentally challenged?

    • @ChasingLatitudes
      @ChasingLatitudes  Год назад +1

      Get the boat that works the best for you and your needs. Just understand the cost associated with whatever you choose. Do you research, plan, negotiate, understand running costs, repairs, refits. Compare costs to newer, decide if you prefer to sail in exotic locations or do boat repairs in exotic locations. I'm sure if you do all of those things realistically you will get the best boat that works for you
