Welcome to Chasing Latitudes! Have you ever imagined the smell of the ocean air as your boat crashes through the waves? The freedom that comes from casting off the bow lines and heading out to sea to explore new places you can’t reach by car or airplane? Then this channel is for you.
You will not see white sand beaches here, restaurant reviews, beach parties, selfies or Japanese knives. What you will find is factual information based on decades of sailing experience.
My channel is specifically meant for one thing and one thing only, to help YOU find your new to you fancy-dancy yacht of your dreams and get on the water in the fastest, most time efficient manner.
Don’t get caught up in looking at old boats! I focus on mostly newer vessels, built in 2000 or later because I want you to spend as much of your time as possible sailing, not practicing your restoration skills on an old boat attempting to bring it to its former glory.
You want to take advantage of the amazing newer technology and modern hull designs when it comes to sailing. This is going to make your vessel far easier to sail solol or short handed and make them far more comfortable and efficient to live aboard full time or even just weekenders without buying more boat than you need.
I offer a wide variety of services including consulting where I will take you through the entire process of how to budget properly, choosing what vessel size will work for your needs, what type of vessel, I will help you shop for vessels, determine offer prices, schedule surveys, talk with brokers, teach you how to do your own pre-survey, walk you through hiring the correct surveyor and help you avoid all of the common pitfalls that you will find when purchasing used sailing vessels.
The consulting does not stop there, I will be with you every step of the way and long after you have purchased your vessel as consulting also comes with lifetime access to the members area,.
Chasing Latitudes hosts a large, active private members area where the members are more than happy to offer their own experience to solve problems, host private videos for ASA Sailing quizzes (ASA 101, 103, & 104), and live stream videos which feature anything from member cruising to boat shopping, boat comparisons, and other live content with chat from the subscribers to my RUclips channel and channel members.
It’s time for YOU to get on the water. Come aboard!

As much as you may not agree with him, what really matters is the fact that he is right, and he knows what he's talking about.

Thank you Chris. Great video. We are in the UK and your videos are helping us to figure out what type of sailboat would work best for us. The LOA/LWL is a very useful tool we didn't really understand before. We think the Beneteau Oceanis 31 or Jeanneau 30i would be perfect for what we want to do: 10-15% coastal sailing Devon/Cornwall and 85% pottering around Plymouth and joining some fun club races (not round the cans). Problem here is market is way way over priced and there is little to choose from. Trying to widen the choice of boats to improve our chances of getting a boat sooner than later. Not a great fan of Hanse with their big wheels and having to climb on the cockpit benches to get passed/nor the huge step to get down below. Will be a long search. I'd expect prices to cool down later as nothing is really selling. Would love to buy the Beneteau Oceanis 30.1 but way out of range !

The UK market is very small and i agree overpriced, the IS are spoilt for choice and for good prices it seems.

Great advice as usual. You need to re-edit part of your video as there a blanc video(black screen) playing starting 37m30s. I will be buying your book soon as I just retired and plan to go sailing.

what do think of a beneteau 57 2012 model?

I’ve watched a lot of your how to buy videos at this point, excellent advice in all of them for buying a live aboard boat for the Caribbean, so thank you.
However, could you make one targeted at a new part time sailer for costal cruising? I’d obviously love to have a dual helm Beneteau from 2015 or newer, but for a non-live aboard boat that only gets used on weekends or maybe week long trips, it’s hard to justify a $100k boat.
Is there anything in the $15-30k range that you’d recommend for that use? On paper, it seems like older Catalina 30s or something like a Pearson 31-2 would be great for that…but I’ve never heard you comment on anything like that for that use case.

Have you ever captained a Beneteau Sense 50? I haven’t really seen anyone talk about them. The ones I’ve seen on yachtworld are pricy (out of my budget) but I LOVE the cockpit!

I noticed you scrolled right on by the 2006 Elan Impression 384 when you increased your lower limit to 100K. Was there a reason to skip that Make and model? Thanks for all you do for sailing. It is appreciated

Well it's odd that an AI would post as many miles sailing as I do, and considering dozens of patterns have been sailing with me that would be quite the magic trick

Serious question! What do we need to call the broker? Should this information not be available on the listing. What is the secret there?

Printing the title in BIG LETTERS acorss the thumb is bad form. Misspelling the title is pure karma.

It's called a 1000 IQ move. If I misspell the word there is always at least a dozen comments I will get about it. It's of course always haters like yourself but it causes the video to get more views 🤣 this is an intentional thumbnail for the video to sucker unintelligent people such as yourself to comment
