What if the 5/64 allen screws doesn't work underneath the thumbscrew? Can that screw be drilled through? I'm running out of options. I have no idea why the allen screws won't work.
Total hassle to remove circlip ring. One slip and you've cut and injured your hand/fingers. Best is to grind 1/8" access on the lock lip to access snap ring. Use needle mose pliers to remove snap ring end after rotating ring. Expensive high security locks should not prevent the homeowner to access his/her own locks.
This video states you need to use a 9/16 (nine sixteenths of an inch) allen wrench on the mounting bolts. But I believe it's actually a 3/16 (three sixteenths of an inch) allen wrench that's needed. I just removed a Medeco Maxum deadbolt lock using such an allen wrench, as I demonstrate in my video ruclips.net/video/-s8B5wbpf-E/видео.html
I have the exact deadbolt , but the inner ring is not coming out . What's the point of making it impossible to remove from inside the house ? is the robber going to take also the deadbolt ?
Just use the corner of a razor blade or a utility knife to remove the retaining clip, then use a piece of duct tape or similar to remove the trim cover.
Any idea what the torque spec is for the 3/16" retaining bolts? I couldn't find it anywhere.
I have Medeco deadbolt that works when not attached to the door. But when I installed it to the door the key was very difficult to turn. Any help?

Just replaced one minutes ago. Thanks for posting. You are correct, 3/16".
@@garyabc Glad to hear it!
Here I am 6 years later trying to look for a 9/16 hex key for the last 3 days before deciding to read the comments 🤦♂️
Saved my day!))
5/64 allen thumb set screw, 9/16 Allen
Through bolts are 3/16, not 9/16

I believe they use the same parts for the version of the deadbolt which is keyed from both sides of the door, i.e. no thumb turn, cylinder both sides.

It's not 9/16 inch Allen wrench
Why? Get yourself something you can work on easily! Over priced junk! You can rake the damn things!
