I’m curious what models you used for these tutorials? I looked all over the AoS Chaos line and didn’t see them. I’m hoping they aren’t part of a huge army box but can be purchased in a smaller set.
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA @Duncan Rhodes Painting Academy If you change that in the description to 00:00 Introduction 00:47 Tzeentch colour scheme 07:50 Nurgle colour scheme 16:40 Slaanesh colour scheme 23:24 Khorne colour scheme Then it will trigger automatic video chapters. What a great way to showcase not only four simple evocative colour schemes for the Chaos Gods, but also four easy-to-replicate painting techniques to create really distinctive looks. Well done, Painting Academy. Nurgle loves you. :)
I really like what you did for the Slaanesh armor (and not because of my bias) it still looks a bit intimidating to put into practice but I'm gonna give it a go on an obliterator. Also, praise the Fifth! Glory to the Pug!
The Tzeentch scheme is top knotch, and the Nurgle one is just absolutely inspired. Love how you guys always make next level color schemes without being overly complex to paint.
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA i also really like other techniques! Wet blending looks great and indeed not too hard. And the sponging looks fun. But mostly the streaking for Nurgle is useful to me. Love nurgle, love the death guard, would like to get some S2D and make them all nurgle-y
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA is the blue and turquoise just one coat since you're doing that intermittent paint mixing method. or are you gong back over it with another layer doing the same thing
This one was excellent, Duncan. Different schemes, different bases, and refining techniques in the same video shown on similar models it's a lot of information. Great!
Can you show us how you did your clansmen of Lamedon, and how you did those awesome tartans even over the shoulder? You're awesome and I'm glad to see you're doing so well on your own! Thanks!
Thank you! I was looking for inspiration as I’m starting an Old World Warriors of Chaos army with the new Chaos Warrior sculpts. I’ll definitely be taking inspiration from this tutorial. Thank you once again.
Awesome video, i love the tzeentch effect with 2 contrast, the nurgle "striking" technique finally made me understand how to add "texture", easiest wetblend "tutorial" i've ever seen, and the ardcoat on the granular khorne armor make it looks so unique, you can be proud of this video, your work is so inspiring.
Thanks for doing these videos Duncan, they really help me out. Wellmade narration and examples shown onscreen. The fav gotta be Tzeentch in this video.
These schemes are insane! Simple yet very eye catching, I'll definetely use these to paint my next army! The only question that remains is: to which god should I sell my soul to?
These techniques are amazing. You could even swap the colors. Doing the Nurgle techniques with the Khorne colors it would look like bands of muscle. Awesome sauce, thank you.
These are all super useful ideas that work really well. The Tzeetch one is a great way to get Heresy style Alpha Legion. Forge World love that metallic scheme for those guys and it looks the business. The Slaanesh one blows my mind though. That wet blend style technique looks absolutely incredible. Hard to believe it's only two colours making that effect.
TURBO DORK IS ALSO UTTERLY PERFECT FOR TZEENTCH, because their paints are colour shifting. From dark to light, I use Wave Length (deep blues and purples with just a hint of pink when used over black, Ice To Never (mid-tone blues, purples and a kiss of turquoise) and Crystal Cavern (pale blue and pinkish-purple).
This video was very inspiring. I have some old Chaos warriors that I started to paint metallic and add washes on to get them to look like Nurgle, Khorne and Slaanesh (yes they have been half done for a very long time). Seeing this I think I will give it a go trying some of the things you did in this video instead.
Love that Slaanesh scheme! I've got an old metal Aspiring Champion for my Old World undivided army, and I've been looking for something to do with him to create a slaanesh champion!
I prefer the traditional black armor, but these are definitely some cool techniques. I might do the blood splatter on some Khorne-marked Chaos Chosen or the Purple-tinged gold on some Slanessh-marked Chaos Knights. I'd love to incorporate that rotting look to the shields of my Nurgle-marked Chaos Warriors, but I'll have to figure out how to make it look good in black.
Watched this with my kid as we usually do. He asked about who these chaos gods are, so i showed him a lord of change. "Heybig birds supposed to be yellow, who made him blue!" Now i cant stop picturing the other three as sesame street chars.
Thanks for another wonderful tutorial! If I make mistakes on Tzeentch or Slaanesh armours, how should I fix them? Should I basecoat the entire panel and start all over again? Happy new year, by the way!
As someone just getting into S2D who loves Nurgle armies... Yeah I need to figure out how to replicate that nurgle scheme. It'll be worth the time to not just slap contrast or speed paint on a model and call it a day. They just look too amazing
I did my first wet blending by accident when painting an aspiring sorcerer for my old Thousand sons army back in 2005... I was trying to put blue around the base of the white robe but didn't let the white dry enough first and got a wonderful blend and went "I wonder if anyone else thought of doing this" then i looked online and saw that it was a technique people tired to learn.
I want my warriors to be a little ambiguously blended between slaanesh colors AND tzeentch ones, which contrast paints would you recommend I combine to mashup these two gods aesthetics? Would you swap the Screamer Pink out for something else in the wet blending? Maybe Frostheart, or Talassar blue? Wicked video
I love the colour scheme for Tzeentch, it pops so much its amazing! I just wanted to ask Duncan, im not sure what colour to do the cape and the boots that would compliment the colour of the armour? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
All are great, but that Tzeentch really pops. Would that contrast on silver work with black armor or are the black contrast too opaque? Would like to do some shiny black but nrm is out of my reach atm.
Love this video Duncan! But I'm going to make sure and ask to see more Battletech! You have to make sure to ask for what you want in life, and if enough people agree In the comments you might even do it!
Hi Duncan, I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I’ve also got some slaves to darkness models and I’m trying paint them so that the armour looks like cracked molten rock, as though whatever is inside the armour is some sort of flame spirit, if you have any advice on how I could make this effect work it’d be really appreciated!

Will you ever do tutorials for each faction; ie how to paint each race’s basic troops?
Thank you!
Khorne all the way. Even i don't think i'll use the gloss at the end. Nurgle was pretty cool too

The Tzeentch techniques applies really well to the Alpha Legion as well.
... cause it's more green than blue?

Love the way you explain things. Easy to understand and to follow.
Excellent vid. Wet blending is fun and my favorite way to paint. 👍
The Khorne armour could look fantastic on the future World Eaters 100% going to use
The Slaanesh one is really pleasing to the eyes Duncan, you did a fantastic job as always!

What a great video. The cinematics were looking good!
Thank you, the way how you did the woody grain from the Nurgles armour, really did make it look better than the classic approaches to it
