Hello everyone. If you enjoyed this tutorial, please leave a Like, Subscribe to the channel and a Comment below, we'd love to hear from you. Also, let us know in the comments below which is your favourite of the Chaos Gods or your favourite scheme from the video. Have an amazing weekend everyone.
Will you ever do tutorials for each faction; ie how to paint each race’s basic troops?
Thank you!
Khorne all the way. Even i don't think i'll use the gloss at the end. Nurgle was pretty cool too
I’m curious what models you used for these tutorials? I looked all over the AoS Chaos line and didn’t see them. I’m hoping they aren’t part of a huge army box but can be purchased in a smaller set.
Tzeentch colour scheme : 0:47
Nurgle colour scheme : 7:50
Slaanesh colour scheme : 16:40
Khorne colour scheme : 23:24
Amazing techniques, thanks for the tips
Thanks for sharing. We'll add it to the video
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA @Duncan Rhodes Painting Academy If you change that in the description to
00:00 Introduction
00:47 Tzeentch colour scheme
07:50 Nurgle colour scheme
16:40 Slaanesh colour scheme
23:24 Khorne colour scheme
Then it will trigger automatic video chapters.
You just need to make sure you start with 00:00 and have at least 3 timestamps in chrono order at least 10 seconds apart. You've got it on some of the videos so at least one person on the team already knows how to do it :P
What a great way to showcase not only four simple evocative colour schemes for the Chaos Gods, but also four easy-to-replicate painting techniques to create really distinctive looks. Well done, Painting Academy. Nurgle loves you. :)
Thank you. We had a blast doing this one 😊
I really like what you did for the Slaanesh armor (and not because of my bias) it still looks a bit intimidating to put into practice but I'm gonna give it a go on an obliterator. Also, praise the Fifth! Glory to the Pug!
I hear the fifth god is somewhat pugnacious.
The Tzeentch scheme is top knotch, and the Nurgle one is just absolutely inspired. Love how you guys always make next level color schemes without being overly complex to paint.
Thank you. We just want to make it achievable for everyone 😊
As a brand new miniature painter, this tutorial is AMAZING! It's basically a 4 for 1 armor painting tutorial. Thanks!
You're very welcome! Glad it was helpful
The Tzeentch techniques applies really well to the Alpha Legion as well.
... cause it's more green than blue?
"I don't think I could like Duncan more,"
*he has a pug*
"I lied,"
Gyzmo sure has some strange powers....
What happens when you feed him after midnight?
That tzeentch colour scheme could work great for say the Alpha Legion too, that metallic shiny blue
Sure will! All the schemes shown here would work in 40K 😀
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA i also really like other techniques! Wet blending looks great and indeed not too hard. And the sponging looks fun.
But mostly the streaking for Nurgle is useful to me. Love nurgle, love the death guard, would like to get some S2D and make them all nurgle-y
That would be awesome!
Duncan has blessed us with a new tutorial!
Yay!
Thanks for the slaanesh part. Gave me the confidence to try wetblending and my chaos terminator armor looks insanely good
I love that dapple effect on the Khorne Warrior's plate. Curious how that would look with different colours, like blue, or white.
This was really good! I love the techniques you showed. I'd love to see how you would do Chaos Undivided marauders or Dark Oath Savagers.
Good shout
There’s so much creative talent and knowledge in this video.
Thank you
I love how you change the colour of your background to match each scheme!
The Khorne armour could look fantastic on the future World Eaters 100% going to use
This one was excellent, Duncan. Different schemes, different bases, and refining techniques in the same video shown on similar models it's a lot of information. Great!
Thank you, the way how you did the woody grain from the Nurgles armour, really did make it look better than the classic approaches to it
Akhelian Green over silver is what I used for Alpha Legion in my AL kill team. Its been very nice. My first ever contrast paint experience.
absolutely love that purple to pink! looks incredible
Best chaos warriors painting tutorial ever!!!
great video!! I will definitely try some of these tips!
(one note: I would have liked a final shot of all 4 next to each other as a visual recap)
The Runious Powers are satisfied with this video
All hail the Ruinous Powers
Love the way you explain things. Easy to understand and to follow.
Thank you , DRPA .
🐺
Thank you Loupis Canis 🐺
awesome. I learn from your videos. thank you for sharing🔔👍
Oooh nelly that slanessssh one IS lush. Really lovely. I think I will use it for tzeench though, between purple and blue
Excellent vid. Wet blending is fun and my favorite way to paint. 👍
What a great video. The cinematics were looking good!
Thank you! I was looking for inspiration as I’m starting an Old World Warriors of Chaos army with the new Chaos Warrior sculpts. I’ll definitely be taking inspiration from this tutorial. Thank you once again.
Nice! Might try that Nurgle technique for my Death Guard killeteam
Saved the best for last. Blood for the Blood God!
Can you show us how you did your clansmen of Lamedon, and how you did those awesome tartans even over the shoulder? You're awesome and I'm glad to see you're doing so well on your own! Thanks!
Brilliant video, what a fantastic easygoing and encouraging explanation. Bravo.
i always loved the slaanesh scheme from the storm of chaos campaign book ... if you fancied doing a video on that, id be eternally grateful!
Great techniques, clear and well-explained, usable in countless situations!
Glad it was helpful!
That shifting blue/green metallic armour world be perfect for Alpha Legion.
Sure is. In fact it what we used yo paint ours 👍
Tzeentch appreciates your fine work! I'll admit I preferred the Khorne armour pre-gloss, but I can just skip that step if need be!
The Khorne scheme is my favorite, definitely going to use that for a kitbash I have planned.
Good stuff with that first scheme, I might have to make some changes to my Alpha Legion plans.
Great stuff! Always keen to see videos encouraging wet blending
Those look great, Chaos warriors are simply too cool.😎
They sure do
Awesome video, i love the tzeentch effect with 2 contrast, the nurgle "striking" technique finally made me understand how to add "texture", easiest wetblend "tutorial" i've ever seen, and the ardcoat on the granular khorne armor make it looks so unique, you can be proud of this video, your work is so inspiring.
Thank you. We had fun creating this one.
The Slaanesh one is really pleasing to the eyes Duncan, you did a fantastic job as always!
Thank you
The tutorials are brilliant Duncan, give great inspiration. Thanks to you and the team.
Our pleasure!
Watched this with my kid as we usually do. He asked about who these chaos gods are, so i showed him a lord of change.
"Heybig birds supposed to be yellow, who made him blue!"
Now i cant stop picturing the other three as sesame street chars.
Brilliant! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
These techniques are amazing. You could even swap the colors. Doing the Nurgle techniques with the Khorne colors it would look like bands of muscle. Awesome sauce, thank you.
that tzeentch armor looks like it could make a really good alpha legion paint job
Sure can. In fact it's what we use
Amazing as always
Thank you! Cheers!
This is awesome! These colour schemes can be used for Chaos Space Marines...just the Tzeench colours are more fitting for the Alpha Legion.
I absolutely love watching people that you just look at and think, "oh yeah they smoke pot! :)"
When're we gonna get a pug painting tutorial? The blending on the ears and mid-face looks great.
Love the tzeench one, definitely gonna be getting a box of warriors to try that paint scheme
Amazing job on the video, I love seeing Duncan be creative! so much character in all four schemes.
Thank you very much!
I liked that the light in the back changed depending on the god
Yeah, Rog had fun with that 😀
I'm definitely doing the new World Eaters range with the Khorne armour technique. The all seem straight forward aswell, thank you Duncan
Awesome. And it's our pleasure
Thanks for doing these videos Duncan, they really help me out. Wellmade narration and examples shown onscreen. The fav gotta be Tzeentch in this video.
Thank you
Happy new year, Duncan! May this one be better than the last.
These are all super useful ideas that work really well. The Tzeetch one is a great way to get Heresy style Alpha Legion. Forge World love that metallic scheme for those guys and it looks the business. The Slaanesh one blows my mind though. That wet blend style technique looks absolutely incredible. Hard to believe it's only two colours making that effect.
Yup, and it's so easy to do too.
Ah yes the 5th chaos god, Pugus, lord of cuteness and all things fluffy 😅
I always learn something new from your videos. Thank you, sir!
Our pleasure, we are glad we could help
*Sees new video*
Praise the Primordial truth!
two thin coats! two thin coats!
These schemes are insane! Simple yet very eye catching, I'll definetely use these to paint my next army!
The only question that remains is: to which god should I sell my soul to?
Love this video Duncan!
But I'm going to make sure and ask to see more Battletech! You have to make sure to ask for what you want in life, and if enough people agree In the comments you might even do it!
We did a fun tutorial a couple weeks back for a Federated Suns Atlas on the Academy website (www.duncnahrodes.com)
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA thanks, will take a look for sure!
I love this kind of videos, of different ways to paint the same! keep it up guys!
Thanks! Will do! 👍
Awesome video!
As someone just getting into S2D who loves Nurgle armies... Yeah I need to figure out how to replicate that nurgle scheme. It'll be worth the time to not just slap contrast or speed paint on a model and call it a day. They just look too amazing
This video was very inspiring. I have some old Chaos warriors that I started to paint metallic and add washes on to get them to look like Nurgle, Khorne and Slaanesh (yes they have been half done for a very long time). Seeing this I think I will give it a go trying some of the things you did in this video instead.
You just convinced me to try out wet blending, the final effect looks amazing
It sure does and it's really not that difficult
This is a very good tutorial, thank you very much.
Our pleasure
I love your approach to painting these guys looks very original and fun to do especially the Slaanesh one turned out so beautifully!
Thank you so much 😀
Slaanesh one was especially creative
How can I call a masterclass when it is given by Duncan !?
Thank you for all those great ideas.
Our pleasure!
Loved this thanks Duncan
your great fun to watch
Awesome video! I'm just starting to collect some Slaves to Darkness and am planning on making them dedicated to Slaanesh! This will help greatly!!
Awesome! Glad we could help 👍
I prefer the traditional black armor, but these are definitely some cool techniques. I might do the blood splatter on some Khorne-marked Chaos Chosen or the Purple-tinged gold on some Slanessh-marked Chaos Knights. I'd love to incorporate that rotting look to the shields of my Nurgle-marked Chaos Warriors, but I'll have to figure out how to make it look good in black.
The warhound titan at the beginning is the most scary of them all.
I did my first wet blending by accident when painting an aspiring sorcerer for my old Thousand sons army back in 2005... I was trying to put blue around the base of the white robe but didn't let the white dry enough first and got a wonderful blend and went "I wonder if anyone else thought of doing this" then i looked online and saw that it was a technique people tired to learn.
Happy little accident I guess 😊
TURBO DORK IS ALSO UTTERLY PERFECT FOR TZEENTCH, because their paints are colour shifting. From dark to light, I use Wave Length (deep blues and purples with just a hint of pink when used over black, Ice To Never (mid-tone blues, purples and a kiss of turquoise) and Crystal Cavern (pale blue and pinkish-purple).
Duncan you realize because you’ve reveled to the world you have a adorable pug you are required by law to put him in every video after this one 😂😂
I can't help but feel that that technique you used on the Tzeentch warrior's blue armor would be perfect for Alpha Legion space marines.
It sure is. In fact, it's the very technique we used to paint our Alpha Legion
All cool, but the finished Khorne one was my favourite by far! o.o
Thank you for showing the water cup and and brush loading process in the corner. I never see that and it’s made it very hard to follow a lot of tutorials.
Thanks a Lot Duncan. this will help me for my Khorne Army. Well rather my Little One 😁
Awesome!
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA A question tho. Icould use the Technique for the New Daemon Prince to right for the Armor. 🤔
"They're are only 4 chaos gods" The Great Horned Rat: Am I A Joke To You?
Shhh...we will hear you. We don't want to upset him. 😉
That blue Tzeentch scheme would look really good for Alpha Legion too
Sure will
Very happy to see Slaanesh not represented last for once
love the technique for Slaanesh ! i would apply that to my wraith guard host ! thank you !
You're so welcome!
Thanks for the amazing tutorial! Found out I'm more of a heretic these days. :D more chaos armor tutorial in future maybe?
My favourite is definitely the Tzeentch and Khorne scheme (before ard coat).
I have GOT to get that mithril silver. It looked phenominal
Awesome work!
Thank you! Cheers!
I've been wondering how I'd like to paint my kill team corsairs and I reckon that Slaanesh scheme will do very nicely indeed
Awesome!
I love your content, Duncan, but if I had one criticism it would be that you should show the finished product for particular paint steps alongside what you're planning so we can see what the end result you're going for is alongside the recipe without having to go back and forth in the video
Otherwise, thanks!!
Love the video and I'm thinking of applying your Slanesh technique on my Nurgle marines. Starting on the top with greens and blending the old Death Guard white near the bottom then add streaks of corruption.
That sounds awesome
Ill definitely be using the Tzeentch method for my alpha legion and the Khorne method for world eaters when they are released.
They'll work perfectly for both 😊
Thanks for another wonderful tutorial!
If I make mistakes on Tzeentch or Slaanesh armours, how should I fix them? Should I basecoat the entire panel and start all over again?
Happy new year, by the way!
Thanks.
For those who have chosen tzeentch, what colours have you used for the rest of the warrior (cape, boots, gloves etc… )?
Many thanks and great video, loved the Khorne pattern! Could you do a tutorial on how to do that vibrant green armor of Slambo?
