Yes, it’s really sickening. All the money goes towards people who aren’t citizens. It goes towards other countries to security border to help fight the wars, and it also goes to the enemy of those country to bring them the equipment so that they can blast their enemies to smithereens it’s just crazy and we spend money for stupid stuff like electric vehicles when we do not have the infrastructure and no one has the money to buy such expensive vehicle. Nowadays people can’t barely afford or increase rent payment they’re not gonna have a house to plug in electric vehicle that they cannot afford. Plus, can we talk about food rising food costs and not to mention increased crime because the DA in California won’t prosecute

200 years ago, an English doctor published a description of menopause, calling it "the death of the woman in the woman," and we STILL view it as something to be mourned. Other cultures celebrate menopause, and get excited about hot flashes. It's time for women to be valued beyond their ability to bear children.

    • @Himmiefan
      @Himmiefan 5 месяцев назад +105

Exactly! And we need to get over this mentality that the body is malfunctioning when it goes into menopause. The hormone levels change over time for a reason. Should we mess with that with HRT, or should we emphasize improving diet and exercise? I say diet and exercise. Work with the body and not against it.

As a 55yr menopausal woman, I want to say thank you, Halle for speaking for ALL WOMEN! It's sad that a celebrity has to speak up about menopause in order for women to receive help.
●I started menopause at age 45, the hot flashes, night sweats, severe insomnia. Vaginal dryness started at 50, night sweats stopped after 3yrs, and hot flashes stopped after 8yrs. I'm still experiencing insomnia and vaginal dryness.
●I've been using Luveena vaginal moisture for 3yrs now, twice a week, and it has been a lifesaver! My insomnia has gone from waking up every hour to waking up every 3-4hrs.
I know it's hard ladies but it does get better as the years pass.

And please let’s start with PERImenopause! Because I went straight to my doctor and Gyno with it when my body, that I know VERY well, started going “haywire.” My Gyno first said “NO WAY! You’re too young!” I’m like “hello, I know that I look young but maam I’m 45!” I started experiencing perimenopausal symptoms at 42. I had no idea that this was a thing until doing research myself and finding out that it can start in your late 30’s and early 40’s.
My GP doctor “who was younger than me” had to get a senior doctor to come speak to me but the only thing they wanted to discuss was vaginal dryness and hot flashes. There are sooooo many more issues that come with these hormonal changes.
I asked my mother about it and she had never heard of perimenopause either. And she’s had hot flashes for as long as I can remember. 🤷🏽‍♀️
Women, we need to talk about it more amongst each other too. I’ve been talking about it to my friends and family who are close to me in age but aren’t quite there yet. They laugh at the thought of it but hey, at least I tried. 🤷🏽‍♀️
Kudos to Halle for helping to get this ball rolling. 👏🏽

As a woman currently in peri-menopause, I noticed that when I mentioned it, people (even females) would sort of shy away from like I was talking about something dirty or shameful. I would then feel like I said something wrong, so then I would go back to suffering in silence. I know this is not a topic you would want to discuss over the dinner table, but it needs to be talked about as freely as diabetes, heart attacks, depression, etc. It is when a female's hormones get all out of whack and she has all kinds of issues/changes because of it - why is that so embarrassing or seen as taboo? I mean, we are all adults here! I feel like it's officially time we drop the shame, support each other, and do our best to lift each other up because it is definitely a long, rough, and bumpy road.

Menopause is a lot of changes going on with our body. I’m not talking about hot flashes. That’s one thing that doesn’t bother me! I stay cold. Menopause is a big stretch. It’s the aches, it’s the anxiety, it’s the palpitations, it’s the body odor coming out of your pores! Like why wasn’t we told this ??? This shouldn’t be a secret! We should all know! It’s like playing guessing games with my body’s! Literally I feel like I’m tip toeing around my body! Like ok she good today ( I’m smiling) next day I feel like I’ve been ran over by a truck smh! And you can’t talk to anyone about this because it seems not normal! So what do we do…we suffer in silence and make the best of it. I read everything. Awesome! I’m 43…I started feeling the effects after my last child at 36 years old…I wrote it off to postpartum issues…at 40 I started losing my hair and having the hardest time focusing, I had major irritability issues, I wanted to divorce every single month and the hopelessness takes me over. This gives me major issues in work and my relationships. I pray that we receive some relief… for therapy, fmla something because premenopause, pmdd, menopause can be so debilitating and lonely in the suffering. Women don’t write yourself off, a lot of this is beyond our control within our bodies. I pray you all have some support to help you navigate until we are provided answers and relief. Take care of yourselves and do what’s best for you!

The pain and discomfort associated with menopause is real. Heart issues and many conditions begin and get worse when the hormones drop. Nobody is saying they should suffer so why should women “embrace the pain”?! 😃

About time!! 👏🏼👏🏼♀️Write to your federal representative asking them to support the bill. The Advancing Menopause Care and Mid-Life Women’s Health Act is a bipartisan Senate bill for $275 million that would:
    - authorize $125 million in menopause-related research grants through the National Institutes of Health, with respect to -
    A) the impact of the symptoms and trajectories of changes across the menopausal transition and the postmenopausal period on women's physical, mental, behavioral, and cognitive health; and
    (B) the prevention of related adverse health outcomes among women during the menopausal transition and the postmenopausal period.
    - create a $50 million public awareness campaign about menopause,
    - fund $50 million in additional training for health workers
    - and provide $50 million to improve diagnosis and treatment of chronic conditions affecting women at midlife.
So don't forget to write to your federal representative asking them to support the bill. It's 'The Change' all women deserve. ♀️📝

While at work, my mother complained of sudden shortness of breath, which led to her having a panic attack. ER doctor told her what she had was a hot flash. Since menopause and leading up to it, I’ve had a wide range of symptoms: asthma, neck pain, vertigo, insomnia, acid reflux, rosacea, dry skin, atrophy and itching. I was told by a young female physician’s assistant, that hormone replacement therapy would make me crazy and that I should take antidepressants. I didn’t listen to her, but the ignorance in the medical community of menopausal issues is really frustrating. In the current climate, women need to advocate for themselves because no one else is paying attention. I know Hallie Berry won’t be reading this comment, but I’m very happy that she is calling attention to women’s health issues. We need all the help we can get.

I think a lot of the commenters are missing the point. The point is, women do not have to suffer through menopause. Women NOT getting the care they need through menopause can cause an early death, or an unbelievably unbearable old age. Women, please educate yourselves. You will be doing yourself a grave disservice if you fail to find the right doctor that can guide you, and help you through menopause, and beyond.
Halle Berry is beautiful, not doubt, but I guarantee you that she IS getting proper care through her menopause journey. She’s an intelligent woman, she’s not going to settle. I don’t know what’s in the bill, but sounds as though it is legislation to to fund menopause studies, and possibly to help fund services for women that are marginalized, and cannot afford the proper care that they need, and DESERVE!

I don't believe it's just to provide funds to disadvantaged women going through menopause. That would an easier fight-- to allocate more funds for womens health.
It's about conducting research for the development of resources to support the needs of ALL women entering this stage in our lives. As she said, it is stigmatized. It shouldn't be. We discuss disease, but we can't discuss or get proper information or care from providers to better manage meno symptoms? That's wild.

Thank you Halle. At age 65 Americans are penalized if we do not join Medicare. Medicare does not allow women age 65+ to have annual GYN exams. It's not covered. Sexually active senior females need annual GYN exams. Because of American laws, GYN doctors will not accept 65+ year olds on as patients. My GYN of 30 years retired a few years ago. I called 20-25 doctors offices and each declined to care for me because Medicare will not pay for this service. Finally, a female GYN, who heads up a clinic, agreed to take me as a patient. This is another example of abuse toward women regarding our health care. Please help!

Women’s health care in this country is archaic. Hope the bill helps. I personally don’t think male doctors should be allowed to doctor Women unless they have taken special courses and have a greed that they are stable enough to work with women. Course, if this was a matriarch society, we would take care of this and we would not be having these problems. And we would not be going to war all the time for other countries instead of helping our own citizens.

To get is sooner? Halle sure can buy it if it is to expensive. If she want women with lesser money to get it then i understand her activism. Otherwise pointless and just to make her look good.

I have always been an advocate of telling other men about what women go through during the course of a lifetime. I have put in the homework or research about when certain days are acknowledged regarding a woman's health & well-being in life. I get a lot of blowback & that's alright with me about why I care so much about a woman's existence on the face of the earth. Although I always leave other men with the question, "Who do you think birth you into the world? Did you birth yourself?" It always give them pause to think in the moment. 🏥 👶 🍼 👩‍🍼 💊 💉 🛌

Some females have family doctors for years. If ALL doctors begin the conversation even during menstruation years, everyone will already be prepared to talk about the mood swings, how inflammatory foods affect hormones, and how knowledge BEFORE menopause can empower women in their 40's to begin prepping their bodies and their health for menopause. Menstruation starts the journey and Menopause is a pitstop. Let's be thoroughly educated from the beginning!

And just think that the majority of women who choose to take HRT ( hormone replacement therapy) report that most of their menopause symptoms improve within one week and they had been suffering for years.....Yet, so many woman are still afraid of HRT even though it protects you improves most menopause symptoms, protects you from heart disease, osteoporosis etc.....its so sad that so many women suffer in silence when their is relief for all woman if you choose to take it and these days they even offer NONHORMONAL treatments. Ladies, do your research!
