    To be fair, Josh Hamilton hit his 28 in the 10 out format. I'll never forget him putting 500 foot bombs off the back wall of the old Yankee Stadium and halfway up the upper deck.

    • @codylynde5429
      @codylynde5429 2 года назад +3

      Josh's was way more impressive imo. Joey Gallo could be right up there if not for the time rule. He only hits moonshots. Average launch angle is more than twice as high as the average player.

    • @MetsMania15
      @MetsMania15 2 года назад +1

      @@codylynde5429 one thing you have to consider about Hamilton’s run though: he had much longer breaks between each of his swings. Alonso had to control his stamina due to the clock winding down. they’re both very impressive in their own right

    I understand why MLB likes this new format of timed rounds as it gives the derby a 3 pt shootout type feel, but I honestly liked it better when there were 10 outs. You could enjoy each homer alot more, with this format you're barely acknowledging them before you're on to the next one.

    • @DAK4Blizzard
      @DAK4Blizzard 2 года назад +1

      I agree, but I still prefer this format because there's more opportunities for long homers. That said, here's one possible workaround solution. After the at-bat is over, replay it from an overhead camera behind the field, and track each home run as it's hit. Or at the least, track the farthest home runs hit during the at-bat. The clip at 5:14 showing a long homer is an example of what I mean. But they should show more, and they should have a line tracking those homers cuz they're hard to see in flight.
