The Nissan 370Z was a car that never existed on my radar. I always thought of them as car for idiot rich boys. But, after driving this z-car around, i feel that they're alright. But they're still kind of "American-japenjese cars" and this one is a Nismo Stillen. Steve Millen was a primient rally and Imsa race car driver and this has one of his kits.

All modern cars, including the 370z, have an arrow on the gas gauge telling you which side the fuel door is located. Also, the three gauges and their position are a nod to the original Z cars. Same gauges in the same location in that order.
Fun fact, a 2006 Chevy suburban does not have the arrow on the gas gauge. I remember that every time I need to fuel and forget which side it's on
@@cheezeball2517 interesting wrinkle. The Escalade has it, but gm skipped this on the Yukon and suburban.
Yeah I love that about all the Z's. What's funny is that the lap timer is on the dash display instead of being built-in to the clock like in my 280ZX.

The odds of...

At the risk of being called a nerd:
1: the three gauges in the middle are supposed to be a callback to the three gauges in the original
2: there’s an arrow next to the gas pump icon on the dash that tells you which side the filler is on
3: Z car naming convention is based on engine size, so the new Z would be a 300z because it’s a 3 liter, not a 400z which would imply a 4 liter engine. Presumably, they chose to omit the number this time because it would seem odd in terms of progression to go 240,260,280,300,300,350,370,300.
At the risk of being called a nerd:
you forgot the s130
The "400z" does have 400hp so at least the number comes from somewhere
I’ve been watching this channel since the very beginning. I understand the way RUclips works now, vs how it worked then. I understand the way your videos have changed, and how it’s happened. I don’t blame you at all. Adapt, or die. I get it, your goals, and the way you’re going about it.
Man, do I miss the Dodge Avenger style videos. They were fast, short, unapologetic, and hilariously brutal, but still intelligent. I had to keep going back 10 to 20 seconds to catch the joke I missed, because I was still laughing at the previous one. Pausing a split second frame to catch a dirty written joke, and rewinding yet again to get the punchline to the joke I missed the second time because I didn’t catch the context, or the reference. I still watch most of the videos you put out, but not everything, and not the minute it comes out like I used to. Keep doing what you’re doing, but know that I’m still here to catch a glimpse of where you started. Brevity is still the soul of wit.

Gauge pods were a thing in all Z's. Voltage seemed useless to me also until my old battery destroyed my alternator because it was doing overtime. Then I started to pay attention.
Yep. I love Volt gauges.
I wish the 370Z had an oil pressure gauge because the gallery gaskets are known to fail and low pressure is a warning sign but if you wait for the light to come on, it's too late. I was lucky enough to check it with a service gauge in time so I had them replaced with upgraded gaskets.

That headliner though... haha
I own a 370z nismo (no tacky mods though). I absolutely love it, it's an old school drivers car.
However, I live in the UK and the car makes a lot more sense here than it would in th US. We dont have a lot of corvettes or camaros or American cars in general. Our roads are smaller and dont suit them.
If you want a performance sports car, your options are basically; BMW, jaguar and porsche and all are way more expensive.
These are the sort of cars what we will wish were still around in 10-15 years.
Yeah I guess, being in the US, we can’t relate because there’s plenty of entry level priced options for horsepower. Hell you can get a WS6 trans am for under 15k with almost 500hp on marketplace fairly easily. Let alone a scat pack, S550 GT, SS or ZL1 Camaro, or even maybe a K swapped civic, there’s always affordable options to go fast. However, more Americans then you think really care about handling. There are more mountain roads and race tracks in this country then you’d think. That’s where the Z came in. But A LOT are tacky like this one and those god awful red headlight housings.
Did someone put a Rolls style twinkly headliner in that ?
Yes they did.
Dear lord that roof lining 😂
Right? Lol
The three gauge pods on the dash have been in all the z cars since the 240. That's keeping the interior features over time. Also, did you know that the gas gauge shows what side the fuel door is on? There's an arrow next to the little gas pump graphic
This is exactly what I came in to say. The gauges weren't fanboi, they were historic.
@@float6969 I just wish they would have simply included the important readouts - voltage, temp, oil pressure. And make them real gauges, not the typical fake ones we have these days - I want to know the precise data, not just "hot"
@@LemonHolidayProd Agreed. I'm a Nissan fan, but they're terrible about missing the mark. The extra gauges in the Z34 is a perfect example.

Just spotted this car driving on SR61 near Pottsville!
I had a 2009 370Z Touring Sport for 7 years and loved it! I only did a few bolt on mods like Z1 intake, Z1 oil cooler and Fast Intentions catback. Taught myself how to drive stick on it. Even drove it in the snow on Blizzaks for a few winters. Eventually, daily driving a manual sports car that averages 20 mpg, uses premium gas, and was getting up there in miles (138k) got exhausting so I sold it for a Bolt EV. Kinda regret selling it and would've been nice to have both cars but can't afford having 2 cars at the same time right now.

Clean 350z's go for like $15k now, this country is done for
It's a tragedy.
Worth every penny haha
I know many will disagree with me but from what I've seen over the years, the 350/370z is that stepping stone car between your college ricer and your Corvette/GTR.
Your mid to late 20s, you're finally starting to make money. You've outgrown your slammed and stickerbombed Civic Si/Scion tC/NA Miata/etc. The GTI is too plain. The BRZ doesn't have any power. Can't find a Focus ST that isn't clapped. The blown engine horror stories make the WRX a hard sell. You wouldn't be caught dead in a V6 muscle car.
In comes the 370z. It's fun to drive, has plenty of power, sleek looks, easily miles ahead of what you had before. Time goes by, you have some fun but you want to go faster. You do some research, realize the tuning potential isn't great without forced induction. Install intake and exhaust, you feel the placebo effect but you're still losing stoplight races and now you're the butt of all trumpet jokes.
You're now in your 30s, just got a promotion, student loans are paid off, and you've somehow dodged the stork. Time to pick a side between the Coyote and LS clan, or hope to find a gently used GTR for a good price. Your aspirations are far beyond the practical capability of the Z, so you move on and the Z does too, likely to be slammed into a pole by some wannabe drifter while sporting eBay coilovers and loose timing chain.
You described me perfectly, '03 miata first, '16 370z second, just traded the z for a '15 c7 corvette lol
I make barely 100k per year at 33, my household combined income is $160,000 and a GTR or LS is NOWHERE near in my budget… if you have a mortgage (mine is $1900 per month) and have all the normal amenities like AC, occasional eating out, insurance, you’ll be happy to end up with a $35,000 car.

I love Stillen's products. I have a Stillen Gen2 catback I think it's called for my G35 sedan, and not only do I think so but pretty much everyone that's heard it thinks it's the best sounding VQ they've experienced due to that exhaust. It's got an x-pipe with some elaborate bends that converge into a single twin tip muffler, it honestly sounds like an n/a R35. No Tomei Trombones or ISR ear bleeds here.
I would love to get the Stillen supercharger, but last I looked into it the kit was close to 10k, and I would assume I'd probably blow up the engine without upgraded internals... which is probably another 10k. I'm pretty happy with where I'm at now, aside from the cats I have every breather mod from the head and up; Motordyne lower plenum, Motordyne plenum spacer, polished upper intake plenum, NWP throttle body spacer w/ larger diameter Hitachi throttle body, a nice carbon Evo R warm air intake. Stock exhaust manifolds & cats though, nobody makes a set of headers that will fit awd. Maybe in the future I can get one of my fabricator acquaintances to make me a custom set... can't get rid of the cats though.
14:36 Dunno about the 370, but the first time I had to fill up my G35 I couldn't find the fuel door release either, really threw me for a loop until I realized it didn't have one and you just manually open it.
