I always loved the Shiva battles in the SOR series. I always have a thing for “player equivalent” boss battles (kessler from infamous 1 to some extent, Ophelia from My Friend Pedro, etc.). They always (or at least, for the most part) felt both fair and challenging. Shiva takes that idea and pushes it even further. You’re not just fighting a carbon copy of yourself. You’re fighting a character you couldn’t even select on the move screen. He moves, acts, and fights just like the player, but with his own unique move sets and animations. It’s really well done and I think it pretty much (for me at least) sets the bar for most high-level bosses!
Yea, it gave a sense of rivalry between the player (Especially if they are using Axel) & Shiva, it felt like an fair martial arts duel to death. He wasn`t using any gimmicks or tricks, just his pure training, skill & strategy for the fight. Yet he can easy wreck you more easily than most other bosses. It just feels... cool & terrifying at the same time. And the best thing is, in SOR2 Mr. X is watching the fight & laughing when you lose a life
This fight is meant to reference unlocking the bad ending in SoR4, except instead of fighting Axel/Blaze/Adam, you fight Shiva In both cases, you fight Mr. X right after that
Honestly I never really got that feeling, the fact that mr x was just so much faster than shiva made him a much bigger annoyance to me well I mean unless you just spam, then shiva will be harder because he requires you to actually block with specials
For me X was harder because of his cheap tricks of punch-smacking you around. Shiva was still hard, but more of a test of skill, he felt like Vegeta to me
@@canttellyousorryaboutthat716 Wait.... YOU HAVE TO BLOCK ATTACKS USING SPECIALS!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EDIT: OK after finding this out once I finished him off when he grabbed me and I used special attack to escape, it felt like a anime scene.... Like it CANONICALLY ENDED LIKE THAT!
Yeah: Shiva was essetially a brick wall for me. He was able to block every attack without taking damage and deal plenty of damage back at me. There are ways of beating him, though.
The Remake version of Shiva's theme song still pumps me up. Since there's an upcoming Streets of Rage sequel, I wish that we fans will hear this theme again. *_FINAL CRASH!_*
@@tonyc.0451 ...You know, that's a pretty good question. Other VGM composers could have found a nice niche for anime if that ever arose, or if that ever occurred to the studios.
Shiva was one Bad ass Bad Guy, should of been in all kinds of fighting games as a playable or final boss character...This theme song matches his awesomeness. Can you imagine what franchises like Tekken and Streetfighter would of done with this character and this epic beat?
He was confirmed as a boss fight when I made that comment, then the other day last week the devs also confirmed that he'll appear as part of the unlockable retro character roster. Hell yeee.
Fun Fact, you would believe Shiva is hard because SOR 2 devs forgot or didn't have time to implement a back grab counter like in SOR 1. Wrong. Sor 3 shiva back grab can't be countered either.

I want a rival for Blaze too... probably because I like both her & Shiva the most

Shiva is litteraly Vergil in the SOR series
Abadede was like this too.
I cant listen to this without hearing 'FINAL CRASH' In my head 500 times
Shiva was no joke. He was harder than Mr. X, period.
In many ways

If he returns for the new game, we may have that.
Also, get Yuzo Koshiro on it! It's not the same if he isn't there.

SHIVA CONFIRMED FOR SOR4 BOYS.
Really ?
Yeah he is.

Bad news, he's not playable. He's also a complete pushover.
2:30 minutes for a battle with Shiva is way too much. You'd be out of continues in 10 and never get to hear the end of the loop

I AM the weapon.
I wish I knew where they sampled the 'Kill him' from
