Oh he was the intended Reference to Guns n Roses, theres even cannons in the stage covered by roses. Localization was easter egg reference for boyfriend of translator, but music references in megaman is common that it doesn't feel too out of place. Rush, Rock and Roll, Eddie (Van Halen).

I always wondered why the bosses/mavericks in this game are named the way they are. Cuz for Megaman X1-4 they were all named after animals, and then once I played this game and saw "Grizzly Slash" and "The Skiver" I was like "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat????" It was only very recently that I found out on RUclips that they're all named after past and present Guns 'n Roses members. What motive did Inafune have for doing that in this game anyway?
The translator for the game thought it would be neat and that they were better names than the direct translations. (eg. Dark Necrobat > Dark Dizzy) The other original names are as follows: Spike Rose-red, Shining Hotarunicus, Crescent Grizzly, Volt Kraken and Tidal Makkoeen
The translator's *husband* made the suggestion that she translate the names into Guns 'n Roses members...and caused a lot of shit. Btw, they also divorced, if that alludes any to the drama of it all.
