There is retro video settings on switch, retro and retro with a crt filter.
I got PS4 version, but I will now get the switch version of SOR4
I would say that the retro and crt video settings a just ok, not great. I think it looks the same as the secret boss fights. Standard video settings is the way to play but it's a nice little extra.
I wish this game had less comic book graphics and was more in line with capcom sprites of the 90s. ie final fight, aliens vs predator, street fighter 2. They kinda tried to go anime on us for 4 and it looks bad on hd tv screens. Put in some details.

you do get your health back and the boss fights are also chances of increasing your score enough for a 1up before the end of the stages.

Since it was the final bosses fight for the 2nd game. I think it should of been more than a star. Still I think they should of added the first Mr X fight from the first game for this one. For a lesser skill player, the risk of losing lives might be 2 great.

The memories of my late teenage years respected and done right Streets of Rage 4 was made by people that love the original games.
Old school sprite beat ups, they had it all great music and most of all fun! They used to put some much into these games. They sure don't make like this anymore. It's good to see Devs still want to pay homage to the Streets of Rage series.
Music was on point as well with all the cool bosses of Streets of Rage 2 this game is very cool. Most fighting fans are loving this game btw not just us old skoolers.
I sorta like it, but there is nothing like the old school original SOR :)
@Starscream91 it was a lot of fun. Memories that I will always cherish. I also had the privilege of working for ebGames/GameStop in the late 90s. Let me tell you. Exciting days to see the SNES, Dreamcast, PS1, and Sega Saturn and their games enter the store. Seeing the games in action and chatting with the customers and other staff. I may have been in my 20's then but many days I felt just like a 13 year-old on Christmas.

I discovered in 95 that they brought them back on the 3rd one if its helps. Maybe the sor3 characters still can use them in the 4th one... hope it helps

Change the difficulty he beats your ass
He was easy to kill. Stay far away and turn your back and he would do the running attack and you just use your jump attack on repeat. He was like the easiest boss for me.

Big helpful tip, whenever an enemy sends you flying, hold up and jump button to immediately land on your feet so you dont land on your ass 😁 Glad they brought this back from the original games

a good tip is to enter the levels if low on health too, it refills your health on entry

@@ghostlywinds5334 Well, you also get points. And sometimes a full heal. There isn't much of a reason NOT to go for them though, they're basically just bonus rooms, since if you die you also don't lose a life.
I got into the first battle by accident. I didn't know you need the taser to get into all of them.
I tried to avoid hiting the arcade machine and spam the A button or tap up to get warped to the secret boss fights.

Fun fact: despite not being able to use the tasers, dr zan and shiva can still access the third retro level by baiting an galsia with a taser into it.
Sadly all easter eggs are from Streets of Rage 2, comes to show how fanatic the devs were about the game, same goes for the Retro OST, which is SoR2 aswell...

You know that Axel and Blaze can juggle enemies after hitting them with a Star attack, don't you? You can get a lot more damage than what you are getting off of them.

@Starscream91 the reason why it's so amazing is because it stays faithful to the originals. The Gen Z COD kids may want juggling, but the real hardcore older gamers want that traditional solid gameplay.

Tell you what, you just stick to hitting the enemies like you’re in SOR 2 and see how far you will get!! Play it without doing the new combos!!

The secret.bosses deserved a cool redesign. They were better than mostly of the normal Boss characters

Dunno if anyone picked up on this but upon unlocking the secret boss fights from the arcade the background music transitions from modern to a nice midi old retro 16 bit style sound of the same music which really gives it that 90s nostagia feel :D im so buying this.

I'm hooked on this game. Ever since it released I've been playing every beat um up I can find. But in my opinion streets of rage has all of them beat. Final fight is good but just not up to the level of streets of rage 2 3 4.

On the last level just after you go into the drawbridge, I’ve found a shiny black metal thing on the floor which you can’t interact with, looks like a trap door handle. Any info anyone? I feel like it’s a secret.
You cut a rope attached to the handle on the floor, to drop a chandelier on the enemies. There are two of these.
@Phil McCool yesh cheers mate - on a second play through I realised there was a rope attached I didn’t realise I’d cut it the first time 😂 good for a trophy if you hit the enemies with the chandelier too.
They should have the whole of streets of rage 2 and you can play it as the new characters not just little arcade scenes. I'd play tru the old one again.

Is that the Game Gear music in the first two retro levels, even though the level itself is from the Megadrive version?
Yes. Not sure why they used the Game Gear tracks in some places instead of the Genesis/Megadrive originals.
The use of retro music in this game is generally a mess. It's all oddly mismatched.
@@RandomJtv Agreed. They use a boss theme in one of the stages and a stage theme for one of the bosses. It's like they just randomly threw the retro tracks in instead of actually placing them intentionally based on the previous use of the songs.
i was a little disappointed when i found that they used game gear versions for SoR1 tracks instead of mega drive, its my favorite game/ost.
The music in the original streets of Rage 1 for the Sega Genesis is some the best music you will find in Retro video games :)

No surprise there, you can tell based on the lack of combos, lack of juggling that this guy sucked
@@jamalclegg4013 Naw, they don't really suck. They just don't know how to do 'em. And since they don't know how to do 'em, it makes them take a long time to complete a level. Possibly even leave with them with 1 or no extra lives. And due to them not having the knowledge of that, they won't get a time bonus or a life bonus making them most likely get a low rank status. But, I don't think we should say they suck for it. Y'know?

This game was a HUGE letdown… this was NOT Streets of rage.
I hope they had followed up from Streets of rage remake or Streets of rage X.

Is it just me, or are the AI's for the original bosses no where near as difficult as...well...the original bosses used to be?
You couldn't just pick up Abedede like that for example as he shook you off everytime, plus he'd be spamming that rush move all over the place.
Here you can just bum rush them and spam ordinary attacks lol. Granted it's just meant to be an easter egg but still, kids these days have no idea....

The original music was like Retro Electronic music, very hip to the times. I feel like this time is a little more mellowed in SOR4.
But the game is Amazing, and only gets better when you gain lifetime points a unlock all the Streets of Rage Retro Characters.
These areas were such an odd feature.
As decent of an easter egg as this may be, am I the only one who's disappointed at the blatant favoritism towards Streets of Rage 2? Why couldn't they include any retro courses from the first or third games?

Secret bosses feel kind of nerfed. I remember Abadede’s charge rush being faster. Also Shiva was not quick enough nor used his sliding upward kick. Mr. X needed more dakka and butt stock head smashing. Still they’re neat little secrets!
Well, you would need to tackle these bosses all on one life. If you die, you don't lose a life, but you're teleported out.

Ah yes the great old days classic retro music and crazy smashers for sega they need to give us golden ax and altered beast we can’t forget about those arcade gems what they should have done is give us DLC as well so that we can play as the goons we beat up from all of the past games even the bosses and Mr.x himself and his robot double still cool to get a warp to the past by zapping an arcade
The only true SOR2 Shiva who is still kicks ass.
