At what point did either of those commentators say South African sides weren't good enough?
Seriously how is that the understanding you take from that clip?

The reason South Africa perform at World Cups is because there’s minimal traveling, you stay in the country. No country’s players travel more than South Africa and Argentina. And the effects are real.

I don't think that's what the commentators were saying. If anything they were talking about the fans and not the players, who can't book tickets/trips in advance

No timezone differences and long 4 week tour for relevant jetlag issues to matter, means travel is a non-issue entirely, end of story.
Anything else is simply refusing to be accountable for a poor performance.
I also wish the old amatuer days altitude hogwash would go away. For altitude to matter on fitness in professional sport, the minimum is 2000m. Loftus isnt anywhere close to this. The reality is the harsher climate compared to conditions other nations play their rugby by comparison.
Also, altitude is an advantage both ways, sportsmen who train/based higher altitude take the fitness advantage everywhere with them, which we definitely do not see with our highveld based players.
Alot of rugby amatuer roots, SA especially, where still present in how we run our framchises etc, still need letting go compared to many other professional sports.

Swys....think before you talk. Travel is now more regular for teams in the URC and EPCR. May I remind you on why you left the Boks?......lets call it stress.

Invest in private jets as unions that can help with direct flights. You cannot expect public services to change times or routes to accommodate… They will lose way more than what the teams bring to the table…

We loved having south africa teams in super rugby, but they always complained about the travel, forgetting that New Zealand and Australia teams had to travel there

You clearly not thinking straight... SA teams had to travel to NZ,Aus and Argentina... NZ and Aus are neighbors so the travelling between the two is nothing

As has already been explained to you guys countless times, flying east to west is less taxing than flying west to east.

You make it sound like NZ and Aus are right next to each other when it's 5 hours minimum flight@@karabomafa5609

explain why it worked for NZ both club and international??
NZ too travelled to S.A and win, S.A relied heavily on home advantage and struggled away,
    only 2 S.A clubs had a win percentage over 50% in S.R
highlanders and the bulls S.A greatest club had equal win percentages
international level S.A are (25)w and (24)L against NZ in S.A
and are (10)W and (30)L in NZ this tells the story, NZ have managed jet lag and travel better FACTS

      @bravestarr1797
Argentina never complained about traveling to NZ AUS and JAPAN
because they appreciated being apart of S.R and they're 8.42 hrs from S.A practically neighbours
Maybe S.A can learn something from them

Jake White made a poor decision that brought the entire SA rugby union into disrepute. Unfortunately, Jake White has an ego, and he embarrassesed our rugby with that decision.

European commentary is so demeaning and patronising
And it gives even extra motivation for teams to prove them wrong and shut them up, but unfortunately they don’t and keep talking

  • @dimetilldeath

All these excuses about travel. You saffas changed the entire conference system so you only had to play 30% of games outside of SA and then you made it so a South African team was gauruneeted a finals spot

They are talking about the CC not URC mate. URC last three finals were in SA. Not struggling in URC at all.
