To the younger generation he is the most watchable commentator; articulate, smart and possessing unrivalled natural comedic ability. As a player, he was even better … much better. If your life depended on winning a match, Dunstall is your first team pick. His array of abilities ranging from the spectacular to the workmanlike distilled down to him being the most effective player on the field. There always seemed to be a vortex of momentum around him borne out of determination.
What a fantastic speech This man has single-handedly given us Hawthorn supporters so much joy over his career, and it’s so fitting that he is now officially a Legend of the AFL, because he has always been a Legend of Hawthorn Congratulations Chief!
When I was younger, Jason came to my junior football club and did a clinic for us. It was a Mother's Day, and I was going out for lunch for my grandmother, and my coach told me to inform him that I was leaving. Jason, without skipping a beat proceeded to tell me. Wish your grandmother a happy day for me and that he had to ring his mother later in the day. I may be an Essendon fan but will never forget his kindness.
Great speech and well deserved recognition. He not only kicked many goals he also gave many away to his team mates. The 80's was an amazing era with the full forwards and he was a joy to watch
I got to grow up with Jason Dunstall during the era of forwards in the 1990's, it was magnificent him vs Lockett, Ablett or Sumich for the Coleman and 110 plus goals each.
I'm a Pies supporter but Dunstall was an amazing footballer. So many times he broke my heart but it was always amazing to watch him burst out on a lead, stick his big backside out, lean forward and take the mark and then nail the goal. Nothing but respect.
I rated the players that consistently performed against Collingwood and this bloke was number 1. His professionalism was years ahead of its time. One of the most astute, disciplined, dedicated and consistently high performing individuals the game has seen.
Was a teen in the 80s and a mad hawk supporter. Dunstall was the blueprint of consistency. No nonsense consumate professional in a star studded team across every line that has not and will never be seen again.
Well done Jason... a footballer who I have grown up with all my childhood life replaying his goals in my backyard over and over and now enjoying him on Fox Footy. So well spoken and a true legend of the game. Well done chief such a well deserved honor, congratualtions!
What a man, what a sports man. Not only is he a legend he leaves a legacy of integrity, respect , and life values. Well deserved Hall of Fame Player, thanks J.D.
I love dunstall he's great he never has a bad appearance in anything he speaks well he can be funny when it's needed and really serious on the other end you'd struggle to find a better bloke I reckon well deserved
Jason Dunstall was a superb footballer, great hands, great on the lead, the best mark of a poor kick you've ever seen. Great, accurate kick, had plenty of tricks too. The complete footballer and rightly inducted as a legend.
I'm so glad that Fox Footy has started using him more than the Bounce Host since the announcement of his nomination. I'm surprised they didn't talk more about his time on the Hawthorn board and his strong support for Clarkson because that decision changed the club forever. He has been so instrumental in shaping the club on and off the field.
Congratulations Chief, you deserve it and you are the reason why I follow the Hawks, hope that the young Hawthorn players follow your lead, you are a role model.
Hated him as a player, dislike him as a commentator, but fully respect him as a man and a great Australian Rules Football player. You have to respect the opposition to respect the game. Jason, you've earnt respect.
I remember coming down from Darwin for his last game. Brushed some in-laws BBQ which they still complained about decades later. At game's end, I can't forget seeing how much it meant to the other players on the team. Jonathon Robran especially!
Brilliant Jason!! What a career you've had and earnt. A pleasure to have lived in your time and been able to watch your life unfold in front of us. I'm sure some of those sliding marks you grabbed off the deck ,with the tumbling roll afterwards, were a part of your backyard footy antics with your brothers. 👏👏👏🥇🍻🍻
Well done Dunny, it was awesome watching you rip into the oncoming pack and spin out with the ball and kicking the crap out of it mostly for a GOAL....
According to Gary Lion, Jason was more of a giver than receiver, and let me tell you, the behinds I am talking about are not one pointers when you missed the goal.

He is not very nice
@@Upthestars He's a bit prickly around the edges, but he's a teddy bear mate. So many have said that.
@@SilentHotdog28 Dermie said he hates people lol. Threw him under the bus on 360 before HOF started. Was bizarre 😂😂😂

Congrats, Jason from an old team mate from the Ronnie Hall era at Coorparoo . Well done . 👍
Im a carlton man, and he actually wanted to play for carlton, he followed carlton, great champion, well done buddy
Grew up watching this bloke do amazing things. Now in my 40s and he's one of the best in AFL media hands down. Legend for sure.
Was a teen in the 80s and a mad hawk supporter. Dunstall was the blueprint of consistency. No nonsense consumate professional in a star studded team across every line that has not and will never be seen again.
A legend, and he mentions others, selfless humans are rare.
Great speech Chief! Congratulations Legend!
A truly deserving accolade for one of our game's greats!!
Dunstall is an absolute legend he's great in the media too, well deserved his entry in HOF
What a legend of a player and a Champion personality,
I think I enjoy watching Dunstall talk than the footy most weeks

He is one of he greatest players ever, but his contribution, calmness, leadership. What a superstar.
An amazingly talented full forward fortunate to finish the work of amazing team

An intelligent thoughtful man, who was also a very skilled football player

A Hunble champion that we should all love and respect.
Amazing considered Speech from a true legend, they certainly were different times (better?) Congratulations Chief
Best defensive full forward by a country mile, that’s why he’s the best of the modern era … the definition of a “team player”
Always loved the chief
Congrats to Jason! Very well deserved indeed.

Oh Carlton, Carlton, Carlton. We bet Dunstall never made you forget not ever calling him back.

absolut legend, watched him in the 80s and 90s, massive hawks fan, thanks Jase
As a Geelong supporter. Absolute legend. Love him
Well deserved. Gun footballer. Gun commentator and from what I see looks like a top bloke. Well done!
The Goat!
JD, the man, the myth and now A LEGEND!
Worthy legend.
Dunstall should be running the AFL!
Agreed... But isn't an old money private school boy with a law degree
Self made people like Chief are not liked.
Deserved legend ❤

Good on the one Woman that stood up and led the pack!!
The ultimate professional. You wouldn't know if had kicked one gaol or ten. Just do his job and did it well. Worthy recipient

I remember when the club announced they had recruited a Queenslander and I thought they had lost their minds
Should’ve paid plugger to present him with his certificate
What a legend! 😜
I love the HOF
Tight tight tight!!!
What a very honest man and how small is Gerard 😂
Deserves a statue
So who should be Legend number 33? Here's a hint: divide 33 by three, and place the quotient on a Carlton guernsey.
I always thought Carlton and the legends book blokes were tight with money.😅

Overrated. Wouldn't get a game in the modern era
Ridiculously stupid comment. How can the third highest goal kicker in the history of the game be overrated?
Many players in the modern game wouldn't survive in his era. It goes both ways
And you wouldn’t get a game in the modern under 8’s.
