Now they need an Orca sanctuary!!! This is such a beautiful thing. I am so happy for these whales. I'm sure there is a team there to make sure they are eating well and that they are healthy (?).
Totally amazing!!!! Well done 2 this fantastic team who rescued them! And thanks john 4 playing a part in an amazing series thank you and bless you all xx
Considering the circumstances, there’s not a better solution that’s feasible. In an ideal world they’d never have been captured, but they’ve grown up with significant human influence. There’s been quite a few research studies on releasing captive whales back into the wild, and most of them have completely failed. These belugas are lucky to have each other, and it’s more than likely that they will do far much better than whales that have been released alone. Whales like belugas are supposed to be raised amongst their own, and when they aren’t they lack crucial skills to survival as well as social skills. This is more than likely what’s best for them. They can never be truly released into the wild, just look what happened to the star of “Free Willy”. These individuals were raised by humans and can never be truly free. This is the best known solution for them, and arguing that they are just in a “bigger cage” is completely ignorant. I hope they are able to live far more fulfilling lives, and I’m sure you hope the same. These animals are not “wild” but “tamed”, and they can never truly be wild.
I agree. Most rehabilitation experts don't even return over six animals that were born in captivity into the wild. Research has continually shown that releasing them into the true wild isn't successful.
Where is your evidence of this? There have been dozens of releases done WITH success. Look at what the Dolphin Project has accomplished! Look at what the Whale Sanctuary Project did in Russia! It can be done, just not with all captive whales and dolphins. The captivity industry and their supporters like to put out false 'research' saying its not possible. But under the right guidance and with time, wild caught captive whales should be given the chance to return to full freedom.
@@stormichow5325 Captive born cetaceans cant be returned to the wild. For them a sanctuary is the only option. Successful rehab and release is done with those who were captured from the wild.
I hope these babies live a life of peace. Even though it's a controlled environment but they are better here than performing for $$. I wish there was more sanctuaries for the other species & more we can do to help animals from cruelty
hopefully the two from Guangzhou will join them soon!! Heard about one being built in Canada too. One day there's going to be seaside sanctuaries we can visit housing retired orcas and dolphins. I'll be waiting for that day!!
The thing is, the difference is that Sea Life Trust is thinking about what is best for the animals. Oceanariums do not, they only think about the money that the animals make. It IS possible for them to retire to a sanctuary.
I think it's preferable send whales in the wild with a companion, than just having them alone because of the instances where a whale is sent alone in the wild, they may or may not find a pod to adopt and socialize for a very long time until it's too late to find a family because their life span has been shortened in captivity. It would probably help them to survive longer in the wild as a pair/group of whales.
they have been stuck in the indoor tank for years due to a bunch of excuses and are now being displayed publicly in the aquarium. we will give sea life a chance to release them into the sea pen as promised within this year (2024) otherwise this whole thing is just a big greenwashing PR stunt / scam.
Amazing well to those lovely people, hope people will see this and not buy tickets to sea world anymore, is cruel and outdated and has no educational benefits at all, in fact the reverse it’s teaching children it’s ok to miss treat animals
Beluga's are like dolphins they live in groups and they migrate chasing schools of fish, the only real danger for them in the wild is Orca's, I still hope that they are going to release them into the real wild ocean, with trackers on them & the door left open for them if they come back to visit.
Finally we are moving in the right direction in terms of orca and whale captivity! When human beings work together we can achieve great things! 💜

Hope they can adapt their new home
I do too. I think they will be fine. These people obviously care for them and want what's best for them. One more step till total freedom
Amazing!

This is great news.

Great news
Where's this same save the sea attitude when it comes to American captive sea life that are doing shows.
They need to do this with killer whales too released back to the wild
Let's not forget false killer whales! Oh, and Tokitae of Miami $laveCircu$!
Freedom x
This will only keep happening if people STOP going to the places that use them for entertainment!
How are they now
