I'm commenting on an "older" video of yours, but after watching about 5 of your videos I saw this one and realized that I just really enjoy watching your reactions. I won't try to analyze why, but had to throw this comment of appreciation into the void! Thank you!
These are my two favorite message songs from Bo since discovering him after “Inside”. If you love the message of “Repeat Stuff” I would suggest looking into Poppy, or originally That Poppy, whose entire career has been pointing out the flaws and hypocrisies of the music industry.
There's an interview where he talks about the live version of this, about how he's comparing a lot of these artists like Bieber to the devil, and he didn't know it at the time, but apparently Bieber was in the audience.
Was waiting for you to get further into Bo’s work. He becomes more and more introspective and his songs have serious undertones mixed in with the comedy that make him extremely unique
Omg, You are new to Bo! Ok this is going to be so FUN, I haven’t ever watched reaction videos before but I am loving ones where people see Bo for the 1st time. Now I get to watch someone discover him in real time!! I’m too excited. Clearly, I’m subscribed!!
I felt sorry for Bo there for a while, I had been watching him since he did videos in his room, and after he was finally performing and doing shows in front of an audience it seemed people started looking at him differently. I can’t say for sure as I don’t know him at all, only speculate from what I’ve seen and heard him talk about but, he went through a rough time, and quit. But he seems to be doing better (I hope) these days, and his special Inside is great. I loved every minute of it.
Now that you've arrived to the comedy specials from Bo you might want to take into consideration that the song titled "Can't Handle this" (from his Make happy -special) is best left to be the one you react to just before you move on to the songs from his most recent special "Inside". If you wish for it to make the most sense: when you hit the final "Inside" special listen to the song "All eyes on me" right after you've seen "Can't handle this". That said there are several songs uploaded to RUclips outside of his own yt page from the specials "what." and "Make happy" that are worth listening to before you reach that point. what. has the songs "Sad" and "# deep" that are worth a listen and from Make happy I'd recommend at least listening to "Straight white male", "Country Song", "Lower your expectations" and "Problem Solving Song (Kill Yourself) " before you get to "Can't handle this" and then move on to the latest "Inside" -special.
Great video as always Alice I am glad it wasn't blocked. If I'm not mistaken the songs from his special What. Tend not to get blocked since the whole special is on youtube for free. So least you will have a bit of peace from the frustration. Worst case scenario I'm certain most of your subscribers have seen the video of art is dead so we could always follow along with audio only, that is if it isn't being blocked as well. Regardless the journey is still so enjoyable with or without the missing content. I always saw the Satan imagery as the symbol to the epitome of evil. How the music industry contortes insecurities of the masses until it has control over them is satanic in nature or in other words the epitome of evil. That or he wanted an excuse to be a horny little devil guess we'll never know but can enjoy it with goosebumps regardless. Thank you for all your hard work and authenticity in your videos Alice it's nice to know there are still people that are real in this world.
“By the way, sorry if you hear loud banging noises…” Definitely thought you were gonna say “My neighbors are freshly married and still in the honeymoon phase 🙄”
"what the fuck was up with the satan shit?" had the same thought when i first listened. I think it because bo equates capitalizing on the insecurities of teens, and to trap them in this weird loop of "listen to my song telling me i love you!" and then giving them unobtainable wealth and beauty standards so they constantly feel unworthy and unlovable. That loop is evil (hence the devil imagery). It destroys lives and peoples perceptions of themselves. That's also why he smothers the little girl and takes her heart, its a metaphor for what these pop artists do to teens, suffocate their spirit and take their heart. Not to say that all pop artists do this, but a lot do. And a lot of artist do it unintentionally. Justin Bieber is a good example. He was groomed by executives and directors to be appealing to girls his age, and was basically a pawn for a lot of his career.
Yeah, From God's Perspective is definitely a goosebumps-worthy song. Definitely watch the live version of Repeat Stuff as well! Not for a reaction, just for yourself. Fun fact, the girl in her bed at the end of the Repeat Stuff video is Kamala Harris' step daughter. Yeah, basically the pop star sells his soul to the devil. I sure hope you can get the Art is Dead one posted!
There was one show he did Repeat Stuff (and he mentions Justin Bieber and a couple others in the intro) and Justin Bieber was actually in the audience.
I absolutely love your shocked reaction to getting goosebumps at the end of From God's Perspective (around 6:43 )! It looked like you were genuinely startled. So good!
Yeah, he definitely has a dark view of pop culture and pop music and it’s effects on children, especially. I think his video was a metaphor for the music industry, like it insinuates itself into children’s homes and minds, takes their love (i.e., their heart), and uses it for money (i.e., consumes it). So when you look at it that way, it does kind of seem evil. I love the extended metaphors he uses, just makes you think about things in a new way.
There exist a live recording of what appears to be an older version of From Gods Perspective. Thats called ”Oh My God” which is a lyrically similar but significantly angrier version of the song. Id consider it both funnier and more energic. Even if the quality of the recording is somewhat questionable, and it doesnt have the more uplifting ending.
Yeah, when bo started trying to critique the industry he wasn't exactly subtle with how he felt about them... Still love going back to these but this 'I'm gonna make you laugh then feel weird about it' vibe is his thing going forward
Bo has always gone very hard against the mainstream bastardization and marketing of "Art" repeat stuff is one of the most direct call out of it. Thing like Welcome to RUclips, Country Song, Welcome to the Internet, and I'm sure several others all touch on how much it all comes down to money. I think part of it comes down to Bo hating that he is a part of the very system he finds so appalling. Which is why he "casts" himself as the demon possessed one in the video.
If anyone here watched through ChrisReacts videos on Bo Burnham how did he get past the copyright issues? He got all of make happy and inside to upload and I would love for Alice to be able to upload those two specials in the same format so we could get full reactions to the specials. Theres so much inbetween stuff in Inside that id hate to see her miss out on. Especially once we get to all eyes on me and the segments leading up to that song.
I enjoyed this reaction it was funny but I really do think you should watch the entire special he has on Netflix which are words words words, make happy, and inside
I always took the satanic bits as comparing the disregard of emotionally manipulating young people as sacrificing them for your own gain. Plus the fair bit of "deal with the devil" kind of analogies that come out of the music industry.
Yea the live version of repeat stuff is better imo - Also the satan stuff was meant to mirror that "Beyoncé and JayZ worship satan for fame" and Hollywood illuminati thing that was going around at the time of recording this lol Also in spirit of going in chronological order I'd suggest checking his wiki page for this work listed in release order :) 🤘
I f*ckin' LOVE to watch new folk react to "From God's Perspective." *My love's the type of thing you have to earn. And when you earn it, you won't need it.*
I AM THE SERVANT OF DARKNESS!!!! I AM THE VOID!!!! THE RIVERS SHALL RUN RED WITH THE BLOOD OF VIRGINS!!!! THE STRONG WILL BE MADE WEAK!!!! THE WEAK SHALL BOW BEFORE ME!!!! SWAG!!!!!
The whole "satanic" undertone in Repeat Stuff is just calling the music industry for what it is: Soulless, heartless, exploitative, selfserving. They might be as close to literal demons as humans can get and the scene where he "surprises" his fan in her bedroom is just to show what this industry does to people. I am not saying, that ALL entertainers are monsters (just some of them...), but that the industry is monstrous. It eats people alive, fans and performers, hence the metaphor where Bo eats the girls heart. Did anybody else notice the Hitler speech in the background, when he does the Nazi salute? It took me a few times listening to notice myself. He goes above and beyond and does not hold back, to get his message across. One of the really great artists of our time and I really hope, he will continue doing his thing in one for or another. Thank you for this video, Alice!
Ok, I was just triggered by another video to come back here and let you know how you just saved your generation in my eyes: When you didn't know a word, you LOOKED IT UP! Thank you for being curious, and knowing that you have a tool at your immediate disposal to remedy any ignorance. Thank you and stay curious!
It's funny you mentioned Justin Beiber he was one of the main references/targets of this song. Justin went to one of his shows and it was reported that he was offended for being called a follower of Satan. Bo talked about it in an interview with Conan O'Brien at the time.
It's worth watching Stephen lynch if you enjoy Bo Burnham and Tim minchin. Songs to look at: tiny little Moustache, chocolate Icecream and tattoo are hilarious!
Repeat stuff is one of my favourite pieces he has ever made. It's exactly how I felt as a teenager. My sister and loads of my female friends couldn't see what I was trying to tell them, that the music is generic and bland to make you learn to enjoy the same trash so you buy their stuff. Bo is then showing the harm when you warp young minds like that. They become needy as adults because they have been forced to feel not good enough by the pop culture surrounding them. They felt not pretty enough or not talented enough. It made them feel like they couldn't ever achieve anything but also made them feel like they need a partner; those people find it unbearable to be single in adulthood, so often jump into relationships, no matter how toxic, just so they don't have to be alone. Bo is calling out the entire system designed to prey on preteen girls as Satanic for how awful they are. Both versions of Repeat stuff are great. This one is so good as, a Justin Bieber parody, but the original is so much more aggressive and chaotic sounding towards the end. I love them both.
The Satanic imagery (I believe) is a reference to a lot of songs and artists being accused of hiding subliminal messaging of satanic imagery. Like the song Stairway to Heaven allegedly has satanic imagery if the song is played in reverse.
Please react to Help Me by Trevor Moore. It's the reverse side of the coin of repeat stuff with both representing a type of pop star. Trevor Moore is my dead hero his songs are hilarious and deep. He has someone else singing most of help me and sings The Producers parts.
The line "but no-one entertains the thought that maybe God does not believe in you" is so powerful and existential, it always hits me hard.

There's ALOT to unpack in the music video! It's my favorite version, but the live video does have some great jokes that only works with an audience
I love he plays Hitler's speech in the background. Like who tf else can do that lmaooo
The way he illustrated the danger of manipulating the young, and adults to is brilliant !
I'm commenting on an "older" video of yours, but after watching about 5 of your videos I saw this one and realized that I just really enjoy watching your reactions. I won't try to analyze why, but had to throw this comment of appreciation into the void! Thank you!
I loved watching your facial expressions to the end of repeat stuff was hilarious. Love this reaction!
Man, God's Perspective gives me goose bumps too. He's so on the pulse of what we should be doing, vs what alot interpret from the Bible...
please keep these bo reactions coming!! you gotta b my favorite reactor on YT!
could not agree more - Alice laugh and facial expressions are priceless
@@andrewbyronloveshire5209 omg...she's adorable! lol
@@jaceeaster2246 agreed. I can binge Alice vids and crack up everytime.
@@andrewbyronloveshire5209 yes! i wish she would upload more often, shes gorgeous also!
These are my two favorite message songs from Bo since discovering him after “Inside”. If you love the message of “Repeat Stuff” I would suggest looking into Poppy, or originally That Poppy, whose entire career has been pointing out the flaws and hypocrisies of the music industry.
Hey! Loving these reactions! But you missed all the songs from his first special I think?
There's an interview where he talks about the live version of this, about how he's comparing a lot of these artists like Bieber to the devil, and he didn't know it at the time, but apparently Bieber was in the audience.
Was waiting for you to get further into Bo’s work. He becomes more and more introspective and his songs have serious undertones mixed in with the comedy that make him extremely unique
Your face when he bites the heart!! I cannot!! Lol you're a treat!!
I'm enjoying your reactions soooooo much!!! Can't wait for moreee
This is the first video of yours I've watched and you're an absolute blast to watch. Can't wait to see what else you've posted!
Omg, You are new to Bo! Ok this is going to be so FUN, I haven’t ever watched reaction videos before but I am loving ones where people see Bo for the 1st time. Now I get to watch someone discover him in real time!! I’m too excited. Clearly, I’m subscribed!!
As a long-time bo burnham fan (and sitting in a cold room), I got goosebumps both times you did, just before you said you did. wild lol
Time to watch the full specials!
Both of these songs are ones I have been waiting for, loves your reaction!!
watching you just breakdown listening to repeat stuff was so funny, great reaction
Great reaction! I really hope you're gonna do Sad, cause, you know, it's really sad...
Yeah agreed can you imagine Alices face when she gets to 'that' lyric?
I def recommend the live version of repeat stuff as well
That face @13:19 lmao
that Ginerland Squeal (at the end of Repeat Stuff) has to be one of the greatest mems ever
I LOVE it when you're reduced to incoherent squeaking noises. That's how I know it's really good.
Weirdly I tried to close the banner ad in the video you were watching...what has youtube done to me!?
“By the way, sorry if you hear loud banging noises…”
Definitely thought you were gonna say “My neighbors are freshly married and still in the honeymoon phase 🙄”
Never seen your content before but your reactions were super funny to watch. Subbed!
Satan saying Swag makes me lose it every time like someone told me the funniest joke of all time. I may need help.
So good!
And now you know Bo's opinion on teen pop stars.
Personally I like the live version of repeat stuff better, idk it just sounds better
He's equating the heartless manipulation through the music industry with Satan
"If you want love then the love has got to come from you."
That should be a religion.
The music industry invades a family's home and steals their daughter's heart.
Dont forget Oh Bo
If anyone here watched through ChrisReacts videos on Bo Burnham how did he get past the copyright issues? He got all of make happy and inside to upload and I would love for Alice to be able to upload those two specials in the same format so we could get full reactions to the specials. Theres so much inbetween stuff in Inside that id hate to see her miss out on. Especially once we get to all eyes on me and the segments leading up to that song.
Yes Chris Reacts managed to get around things very well and so does Cliff Beats, wonder if there's any way for Alice to get advice from him?
Good news, it uploaded! Hope you can get the others worked out. Very good reaction.
Holy shit that noise you made at the end of the Repeat Stuff video xD
I enjoyed this reaction it was funny but I really do think you should watch the entire special he has on Netflix which are words words words, make happy, and inside
Ok, your laughs really made me subscribe.
your reaction and face at 13:28 is hilarious XD
I always took the satanic bits as comparing the disregard of emotionally manipulating young people as sacrificing them for your own gain. Plus the fair bit of "deal with the devil" kind of analogies that come out of the music industry.
Yea the live version of repeat stuff is better imo - Also the satan stuff was meant to mirror that "Beyoncé and JayZ worship satan for fame" and Hollywood illuminati thing that was going around at the time of recording this lol
Also in spirit of going in chronological order I'd suggest checking his wiki page for this work listed in release order :) 🤘
This version of Repeat Stuff was actually better than the live version 😂
I f*ckin' LOVE to watch new folk react to "From God's Perspective."
*My love's the type of thing you have to earn.
SWAG!!!!!
Learning words is fun with Bo!
Big Bo fan, but I somehow missed that music video. Amazing. He went the full mile.
Paint's Boy Brand parody of NSYNC, Backstreet Boys etc. is equally hilarious, and worth a gander
I like his live version off of ''What'' more, but this song is great no matter how you present it.
I love these videos
I had forgotten the ending to Repeat Stuff...
But yeah, gotta love the "Music is Satan's brainwashing" concept.
Always watch the live videos, always. They’re always better
The live version is worth watching just for the microphone joke alone.
It's kinda fun watching people unknowingly being corrupted.
Thank you for this video, Alice!
saying he's wholesome after "from god's perspective" knowing "repeat stuff" if up next...
Ok, I was just triggered by another video to come back here and let you know how you just saved your generation in my eyes: When you didn't know a word, you LOOKED IT UP! Thank you for being curious, and knowing that you have a tool at your immediate disposal to remedy any ignorance. Thank you and stay curious!
really enjoying the bo journey
It's funny you mentioned Justin Beiber he was one of the main references/targets of this song. Justin went to one of his shows and it was reported that he was offended for being called a follower of Satan. Bo talked about it in an interview with Conan O'Brien at the time.
There is an interview with I think Letterman or Leno where he talks about performing this while Bieber was in the audience.
i just recently saw the music video for repeat stuff and now i can never listen to that song the same again!
The live version of Repeat Stuff is pretty different, so I’d recommend watching both! Also he was more implying that pop stars worked for satan lol
The Satanic imagery (I believe) is a reference to a lot of songs and artists being accused of hiding subliminal messaging of satanic imagery. Like the song Stairway to Heaven allegedly has satanic imagery if the song is played in reverse.
Man those hand gestures 0:16-0:20
Please react to Help Me by Trevor Moore. It's the reverse side of the coin of repeat stuff with both representing a type of pop star. Trevor Moore is my dead hero his songs are hilarious and deep. He has someone else singing most of help me and sings The Producers parts.
God made goosebumps so you would know when he was speaking to you.
Go for both version of repeat stuff. Both are amasing.
