I lived there from 97’ to 2018. I’m glad I moved to East Tennessee but am grateful to have spent my best years in OB. I got there at 22 years old and managed to never go to jail! It’s sad to see what has become of such an awesome place. The homeless have basically destroyed it, 20 year old drug addicts running the streets. I miss the old OB. This was a cool walk down memory lane. Thanks man.
Lived there for 9 years in the 90s left in 99. OB pier was the closest surf spot, but surfed that coast from Sunset cliffs to Cardiff. Enjoyed every bit of it, Great surf, Great food, Great scene and good vibes. I bet the rental prices jacked beyond affordability for those 1 bedroom shacks. OB was turning into a slum before I left, homeless pretty much took over.
Lived and learned to surf in OB in the early 90s. Rented a little house on the end of Voltaire where it dead ends into Dog Beach for like $650/mo with some lifelong friends. 😂 Met my now wife who lived in PB at the time! Winston's usually had the best live music overall, Hodad's does have a great burger, but the best Ahi and Mahi sandwiches I've ever had were at the restaurant on the first floor of the building right past the Lifeguard station on Newport, can't remember what it was called at the time. Watched the Sea World fireworks across the river just about nightly as I recall. Mostly surfed the right hand break off the jetty, usually a lot of sting rays hanging around there so had to shuffle the old feet getting out there! Great memories. The best rolled tacos ever are at Taco Surf in PB, and also some great surfing history, do it's worth a trip if you're ever in the area. Mission Bay used to be awesome, but was in decline with gangs and bs even back then. Been back a bunch of times since then, but it will never be as good as my memories from that time. Lived on the West Coast, Gulf Coast, and now the Atlantic coast. They're all good in their own special ways, but I love surfing in New Smyrna and Cocoa now that I'm in my fifties.Ocean Beach had a different flavor from Mission and PB that I always liked. Ocean kayaking on the reef out from Sunset Cliffs was always a treat, too. La Jolla up towards Blacks Beach had some fun stuff as well. Inline skating on the Mission Beach boardwalk. Disc golf at Balboa Park. Trips to the Silver Strand, staying at the Hotel del Coronado a few times, because my buddy worked there and got us deals. These will always be special memories. Thanks for a trip down memory lane! 🤙
I have a lot of the same exact memories! Taco surf is still there, went there the other day. Such a great place to live in the 90’s! Thank you for watching 👊🏻
Lived there in the mid 80s. Don't know what it's like now, but back then, it was fueled and powered by meth. Also back then, a saying was, "Ocean Beach. Owned and operated by the, (insert name of notorious motorcycle club here)"
@7:33 Who remembers the ice cream shop there in that Wonderland mall left end first floor in the 80's. I used to take my car to Rich's before it became MaxOTO.
Oceanside is a much larger geographic area and has many neighbors (several zip codes actually). Everything from coastal beach type living to inland suburban options. Ocean beach is a very distinctive coastal beach town.

I was definitely around at the same time (late 90's). Maybe we crossed paths! Thank you for watching.
Lived in OB from ‘91 to 2008. Rent increases made it financially impossible to stay. Otherwise, I’d still be there. Nice video.
Thank you for watching, that was a fun day.
I am so lucky to be from oB🥰💚☮️

I got a citation for expired tags at dog beach parking area, and tags were not expired? Beware of corrupt City of San Diego parking system.

I was able to get the fine reduced but still had to pay .
@@cosmicsunbeams that really sucks. Sorry that happened. Hopefully it was at least a good beach day with your 🐶
What's better Ocean Beach or Ocean Side?
Oceanside is a much larger geographic area and has many neighbors (several zip codes actually). Everything from coastal beach type living to inland suburban options. Ocean beach is a very distinctive coastal beach town.

Thanks for watching! Wish the sun ☀️ was out today. June gloom right on schedule!

WTF no mention of the Skatepark!
Oversight on my part. I love a good skatepark as much as everyone. Good call 👊🏻
I liked OB\ San Diego before all the hype and capitalism
Thanks for watching Katharine 👍🏻
Yeah peak capitalism, which explains why 70% of the people in that town are homeless
Try not to step on needles
I hear you. Sometimes I think twice about taking my shoes off. Thank you for watching! 👊🏻
I apologise for correcting you.. but THAT Is the Mexican Air Force 👌OK ???!!!!!! 😎
