  • In today's video I showcase the design process of a simple 1/24 scale RC car racing wheel. The design is not an exact replica of any full size wheel though I used an American Racing VF306 as a reference. I plan on using these wheels for the 1/25 scale AMT 1983 Camaro build and eventually variants of these wheels will be making their way to the Make It RC store.

    You should also give a modelling tutorial for people. your logic and approach to it are very nice!

    Very informative video, thank you for sharing. Projecting curve on a surface, making a face and thicken it to make a thread is a brilliant idea!

    Those are sweet! Don't forget some large Brembo calipers on the discs and you'll be set!

    • @Patrick94GSR
      @Patrick94GSR 6 лет назад +2

      I think he said the disc would be glued onto the wheel and thus rotate with it. The "caliper" would have to be fixed to the chassis somehow, which might make it difficult to put the wheels on or take them off.

    • @reh3ddoes
      @reh3ddoes 6 лет назад

      Yep, you are correct. I missed that line. Maybe he could figure a way to glue them to the axle instead. We'll see. :)

    One thing you need to do with the pre-runner is adding a Chevy logo back on the grill. I build square body's a lot in real life and not adding a logo is the one thing that just bugs the hell outta me. Also I'm looking forward to the camaro

    You should try and make a 67mustang, I've seen a few model kits on eBay and have always wanted to see one made. But just an idea.

    Great work! How do you like the Fusion 360 software? I see you’ve mastered it, how long did it take you to learn all of this? I’m moderately experienced with AutoCAD and google sketchup but AutoCAD was from School and I’d like to try this program because I could definitely use it for machining better and more complex parts. Always love seeing what you can do and the entertaining videos!

      Thank you. I'm far from a master at Fusion, but I'm getting better. I think I've been using it off and on for about 4 years now give or take. I do like the software, though It lacks some features I've seen in other CAD programs and there are a few minor things I don't like, but for the price it can't be beat. If you want to get started with Fusion 360, check out this free course on Udemy: www.udemy.com/product-design-fusion-360/

    Dude the wheels are sick. Your skills with F 360 are getting exponentially better. Where do you get the time to figure this stuff out? Wish I had that kind of time. Pls take no offence. Just envious of your advancement. I would really like to do the same that your doing but I need to keep paying my bills. Do you have any suggestions? Not willing or able to go into unplayable student loan debts that I can never pay back so pls don't be institutionalized with your suggestions. Man I hate being a wage slave.

      Thank you. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to Fusion but after years of using it off and on, as well as using other CAD programs has helped me to become more proficient. I too wish I had more time to study and learn but It's difficult being a freelance worker usually putting in 10-12+ hour days especially when deadlines are on the horizon. I guess to an extent I just learn as I go. I am self taught and never went to college, there are so many great free and low cost resources available online especially with Autodesk products like Fusion 360. Perhaps start with more basic design projects and work your way to more complex things as you get more experience and more familiar with the software. Also I think this free course by Autodesk Edu. is great for beginners which you may want to check out: www.udemy.com/product-design-fusion-360/ Good luck.

      Thank you for your response. I too work 10 - 15 hrs daily at a very physically and mentally demanding job and find I am so exhausted that I don't even have the energy to send time or enjoy the RC hobby as it has a huge appetite for time as well. How everI do get a lot of down time during the winter and look forward to teaching myself more about how to use F 360 and doing some more R&D. I did start with SketchUp Make three plus years ago self taught and fond that it became very limited for what I wanted to create. Also found it took a lot of effort to design the most basic of models. Thank you for your insight. I'll just have to keep plugging away at it and will definitely check out the free courses provided by Autodesk edu. Again thank you for your support. :)

    Question here. Unrelated to Fusion but moreso related to printing. I'm trying to print out some 1/25 scale wheels but just not getting good bonding between the face of the wheel and the barrel. Any tips?

    Really want to see the slice and print phase of this Project too!

    • @MakeItRC
      @MakeItRC  6 лет назад

      I used PreForm to slice the part. It was printed on a Form 2 SLS printer which uses a cover so their isn't much to see while being printed. For FDM prints, I'll be sure to include that footage.

      Make It RC thanks for your answer, I'm Thinking about buying å flashforge inventor 2, would you recommend this printer for me? Thinking i would use it to make rc stuff like you and other Projects.
      Have you tried printing axles and frames using the sls printer?

    Tried to visit the store but get this message on Firefox: "The owner of shop.makeitrc.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website."

    • @MakeItRC

      This is a fairly common issue with Firefox, usually caused by it conflicting with security software. You can do a Google search of something like "the owner of x has configured their website improperly firefox" to learn more and resolve the issue. Or you can simply try a different web browser.

      That is strange. I'm unable to replicate the issue you described and I've not heard of anyone having issues accessing our site, daily traffic and purchases has been normal the past several days so everything should be okay on our end. Unfortunately I'm not sure what the issue might be.
