  • Drummer Stanton Moore is one of the busiest drummers in New Orleans. Everybody wants to work with him. Likewise with the other members of his trio, David Torkanowsky (piano) and James Singleton (bass). These three guys are among the most sought-after musicians in a city brimming with great players. So it was a true delight to get them into the KNKX studio for this live session. Buckle up, turn it up and take a ride with the Stanton Moore Trio.

I just love how so many groove-meisters seem to have the influence of Vince Guaraldi, mix in a little Ahmad Jamal, among others, then go through the whole jazz program with repertoire and voila... this groovacious sound. Cool.

Johnny Vidacovich' alumni. I can hear that. Add his personnal style. Tradition + modernity. Paradise.

Bands always do rhythm intros where the whole band is tapping away and the band always gives up before the drummer lol

My personal preference, I like all but the dissonant parts. Easy to be a critic, I know.

Few years ago here in Asheville Stanton's band came thru. I enjoyed the show, fantastic. But afterwards, he was meeting "fans" and proceeded to literally grope a young woman. He was off to the side of things and maybe thought he was out of site. I was waiting to meet him. He was pulling her in close and his hands were all aggressive on her ass and it was just totally cringe & creepy! She pulled away. It was obvious what he was trying to do. Dude was even wearing his wedding ring. I don't listen to his stuff anymore.
