    • @scattygirl1
      @scattygirl1 Год назад +26

      Their confidence would not have been unjustified given the widely accepted view amongst legal insiders that it is extremely hard to win a defamation case in the US due to freedom of speech laws. It might seem obvious to some **now** that they lost, but that certainly wasn't the general legal belief beforehand. I don't think her team were being hubristic- they just weren't as good as Depp's team. Plus there's only so much you can do with an awful defendant.

      Wasn’t the UK case Johnny having to prove that the Sun Newspaper printed an article that defamed him with malice? (1) Johnny told Amber he wants a divorce, so Amber beats him to it. (2) When this trial starts, Amber was imitating whatever Johnny was wearing. (3) Johnny sued Amber to get her to shut up and stop persecuting him, so during Amber’s first testimony she claimed that all she wanted was for Johnny to stop persecuting her and just leave her alone. (4) Amber was exhibiting narcissistic traits, so she put on experts to claim that Johnny was the narcissist.

      Your comment made me aware of the grave she has digged for herself. By 'exposing' him, she tried to show the world something very bad about Johnny that wasn't true (without evidence ofc), and it exposed things way less worse which he (at this point in time) simpely owed up to. It helped him, not coming off as preditor but prey. (For me, the audio has the same vibe)
      However you turn this case, even this detail points to him not doing what she said he did. You don't have to twist things to tell the truth!

Clearly this was a huge win for Johnny and I believe in my heart that Amber probably shouldn’t have won anything but I also think that it might be good in the long run because Elaine is out there spewing lies and trying to discredit a jury that did grant a small win to Amber. This just makes Amber and her team look even worse and even more stupid in their pitiful arguments.

    Takeaway: Live streaming humanised the trial. Some behaviour considered appropriate/inappropriate in the courtroom have shifted when viewed by the public. Public reaction actually has some legitimacy because the public could have been jurors too.
    Though on paper, Amber had the advantage and her story was haunting, her BS paired with the evidence cost her the case. And there’s something human about being able to parse through that. While the verdict was surprising, the public understands the decision because of live streaming.

    I'm watching this right now on my TV and just want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to all of you and all the TubeLawyers, Law&CrimeNetwork and many other social/independent media who helped me to understand the legal aspects of this trial. I came late to this trial, specifically last two weeks or so, after seeing it mentioned on twitter. Initially, I dismissed it thinking that were just 2 Hollywood celebs having tantrums in public. At this point never heard of AH and of course, I knew JD from his many films which I watched throughout my life, particularly, TPOTC, which were a lot of fun, but didn't know him enough as a man to get me interested in the trial. In general, celeb stuff just annoy me and stopped watching/reading corporate media long time ago (3 -4 years).
    One day, went on YT and saw some stuff related to the trial, I clicked and it was AH being cross exanimated by Camille. It took me a few minutes to understand what it was going on, I was so shocked and triggered... I kept thinking this can't be true, this must be one of the silly things, hoaxes, whatever, that populate YT. Slowly, I came to the realisation that it was true and it was live. I kept watching and more I watched more disturbed and unsettled I became. The reason was I'm a survivor of domestic violence and sexual abuse as a child. I'm a wreck to this day. It destroyed me as a person I was never able to hold a steady job ever, I was never able to have 'normal' relationships whole my life, suffered from depression and anxiety all my life, PTSD diagnosed, I could go on and on... So watching/hearing this woman and hearing the JD tapes I felt devastated beyond words, because I could tell she was lying, because I know what looks like to live in fear, to feel terrified to say the wrong word, even being terrified of breathing, to do the wrong thing... I can't go on, but for a good part of my life, I just wanted to be invisible... No, she wasn't abused in any way, form or shape, she was the abuser. I saw myself in Johnny Depp immediately. I saw the friends I wasn't allowed to have, I saw the yelling thrown at me again and again, you're a loser, you're a nobody, nobody likes you, you're nothing and you always be nothing... I've seen 1000s of women on twitter and here saying exactly the same thing, that they identified with Johnny as I did. In a way, I got some solace from that, that I'm not alone. From the moment I saw that first video of the trial (Amber Heard cross examination) that I have been watching the max I can with the help of LawTubers and the rest (somehow it feels by watching with you, I'm not alone and the pain is not so unbearable), and that such confirmed again and again my first impression, AH doesn't have a clue what DV or SA looks like! Again, thank you so much for your hard work. I couldn't do this without you!

    The public has been exposed to so much because of this trial. Courtroom procedure, great attorneys, not so great attorneys, BPD and histrionic personality disorders, etc. When I went to court years ago to obtaina divorce and custody of my young children, I felt so protected. My abusive husband had to keep his mouth shut unless it was his turn. I was able to speak THE truth without being shouted down. Wonderful, freeing experience.

    Elaine is clearly out-lawyered. Easy to see the Johnny Depp's attorneys as a great solid team. Ben Chew allowed the younger a loose reign and they all exceeded expectations. Attorney's rose to the bar. I watched the last 3 weeks and hard to find anyone that supported Amber. All social media is going to challenge the media, they should fear accountability in the future. BRUCE, I liked when you said in court you don't ask question that you don't know the answers.

    He and his team had it locked down. Ben & Camille have become celebrities in their own right but that’s not to diminish the co-council. They impeccably matched attorneys to witnesses/witness types and even the timing of their appearances. It was so well orchestrated and their belief in Johnny/what they were fighting for was SO tangible.
    Rottenborn did a great job despite having very little to work with but he came off as rude and obnoxious on the surface level, if only because of the seemingly impossible task of forming any sort of camaraderie with his client. Ben Chew was equally aggressive or pointed toward the defense and their witnesses at times, but it felt like he was going to bat for his friend rather than just clocking in and doing his job. I could see Rottenborn being able to form that necessary bond with other clients, but Amber was completely incapable of even feigning that for her own sake.

    B4 the trial, most "assumed" Johnny was guilty ... Evidence changed our minds (1) the police cam video (2) tapes of Amber's full deposition where we saw another Amber (3) tapes from Australia, where Depp, after losing part of his finger showed how abusive he really is by "violently" saying, "You make me ashamed ~ of myself." (4) Jennifer Howell & Vince Jolivette Declarations (5) The TMZ "oops" by Amber (6) The TMZ "insider" (7) the trial

    Waldman owes Depp $2M. He was reckless with his client’s reputation. Even if Johnny agreed, he knew. Johnny’s not a lawyer. He’s an actor, a poet, an outcast, a mega-pint star 🌟.

      Waldman was with Depp and supported him from the beginning, years ago, when it was just the two of them gathering evidence everywhere they could. He has worked hard and been unswervingly loyal, as it seems with many of the people who know Depp. Just another POV.

    I’m just disgusted with the verdict….I almost cried when you hear this grown man saying to his abusive wife, “ you just came around the bed and clogged me, just punching on me” then he took this long pause while Heard was saying sorry and he goes…..”whyyy” in this voice of just confusion….on top of the other audios the world heard…..she shouldn’t of got nothing and he should of been awarded every bit of that $50million plus some, bcuz if He didn’t have those audios Heard would of gotten away with a crime and an innocent victim life would of been ruined for no reason….I don’t really care about this celebrity world but my heart do go out to people who are being abused.

      @Piccolo Ribellem trying to remember why; having already found Amber to be a liar they could disregard her testimony on the penthouse police response, but the jury may have felt that her friends were defamed because the evidence did not support Waldman’s assertion that Amber & friends had messed up the penthouse then called the cops again. But it was also required that they find that Waldman acted with legal malice; at the time Waldman made the statements his assertion was reasonable. A lot of the trial viewers weren’t able to put all the evidence regarding this incident together in a way that would lead them to conclude the scene was not staged until LawTube walked us through it.
