"He is nine years old. He weighs 17 kilograms, he was 25 kilograms before the war. He has a pre-existing condition but with the war his condition worsened. The medication is not available. He needs digestive enzymes that he takes with food. They are not available. The food is also not available. He needs a nebulizer that we do at home at night and day. There is no electricity. So, we don't do it. He takes vitamins with food. There is no medication and there is no food."

As a mother, I was not well nourished to give birth to a healthy baby. Now, you see how he is. And it is getting worse because he needs a special formula, and it is not available."

“Because of the war, we have many cases of malnutrition because of the conditions (the war created). I was in the clinic, and I had 30 children, most of them had malnutrition, because of the lack of food in the Strip. Especially protein, meat is not available. Eggs may be available, but it is very expensive and not everyone can afford the appropriate food for their children."

STORYLINE:
With the risk of famine in the Gaza Strip remaining "high", according to a draft report, children with underlying health conditions in the territory have become particularly vulnerable.
An influx of aid appears to have eased a hunger crisis in northern Gaza for now, but the entire territory remains at “high risk” of famine after Israel's offensive in Rafah caused displacement and the disruption of aid operations in the south, a report by the leading international authority on the severity of hunger crises said.
Manal Nayef, from Rafah, has made multiple visits to the hospital since her son Karam was born underweight nearly three months ago.
"The medication is not available," she said.
