I think we are actually witnessing what kpop stans joke about a lot; a cultural reset. Maybe i'm being dramatic, but i think this is that good and influential to the music that will be produced after it.
I thought the same thing! I think new jeans are going to mark the 5th generation sound. Only time will tell but I think we’re already seeing it with the new girl groups like tripleS AAA, fifty fifty, etc. I’m looking forward to more of the refreshing and natural concept shift.

Musically yes. But visually no. They're still putting young girls in skimpy short versions of school uniforms and exploiting minors as per usual in kpop.
@@GirlofGlamour89 I think NewJeans is already affecting 3rd and 4th gen tho too. Groups like XG and Triple S seem to be tapping in to the NewJeans vibe already at least in terms of styling and leaning on 90s 00s hiphop + R&B (NewJeans sound is actually heavily rooted in old school hiphop as much as R&B and you really see this in OMG and Hype Boy). Some would even say Red Velvet tapped into it recently with Birthday. Last year, several kpop company analysts in quarterly conference calls said Big3 management companies are closely watching NewJeans too.
the mv was really just about the relationship of idols and fans (side A). Side B deals with growing up and maturing, eventually not having those "fan behavior" anymore, as u can see there was a part in the mv where she was walking with the guy, prompting that she has now "matured" (i like it to put it that way). the deer for me was like bambi (the cartoon) - a child. when the deer left, it symbolized her growing up and leaving the "fan" phase

@@michaelasmith1887 It wasn't, but it's the only theory that actually makes sense from start to finish, instead of that dumb "tragic accident" stuff, like why the f would company create a theory for the MV based on someone dying for this group ? It makes absolutely no sense.

The theory kinda is coming of age. More specifically the between KPOP groups and their fans.
The protagonist Ban Heeseo (Bunnies as it is a play on words) symbolizes us fans. NewJeans used to be a big part of her life and was so addicted to them, she imagined them everywhere and her classmates thought she was weird. However, as she grew older, she found more important things in life even though it was hard (breaking the camcorder, ignoring a call from Minji, walking alone in the rain away from NewJeans, paying attention to that guy she likes (Hyunwook), etc.).
NewJeans ends up becoming apart of her childhood and all of those memories are inside of her small dusty box as she relives them by playing tapes. Side A shows the reality of what she’s recording, while Side B shows the acceptance of it. In the end, it kinda represents NewJeans will always be by her side no matter what!
The deer also represents innocence, grace, new beginning, etc.🦌

Ditto is newjeans telling specifically delulu (delusional) kpop fans to stop fully immersing themselves into only loving and obsessing over kpop idols; to the point where you fully ignore the reality outside of your “camera” (which could be ur phone, laptop, or any sort of gadget you use to absorb content like recordings, mv, fancam, etc. of ur fav idols).
The guy in the mv could symbolize reality, as heesoo (the camera girl) avoided him. And the cast around Heesoo’s arm could also symbolize the hurts that delulu fans are experiencing in reality and using idols (in the mv, newjeans) to write on it as a form of healing, like a popular saying “kpop saved my life”, to make it appear prettier. It may have made heesoo happy but the hurt is still there. Idk if i explained it properly but i hope u get my point lol
I’m not korean but I’ve heard from people that “Heesoo” has some sort of connection to the word “bunny” which is also the fandom name of newjeans.

I mean.....they just obliterated the record for Perfect All Kills (# of days ranked #1 on the 4 major charts in korea along with other outside charts......it's at 300 and counting, the previous record for a gg was 260), a few of the members have ALREADY become global ambassadors for major high fashion companies (Hanni for Gucci, Danielle for Burberry, Hyein for LV) when the only female idols to achieve that have been BP, IU, Aesoa as a whole with Givenchy, and maybe some of the members of RV?.....NJ is not even a year old. But prob the biggest anecdotal mark that they ARE the future of kpop is that on a recent episode of Yoo Jae Suk's "Yoo Quiz on the block" Kim Minji (the CEO of their company) said the girls were already paid 2 months into their debut. Even BTS and BP couldn't do that. That is UNHEARD of in this industry (just look to the LOONA drama to see the opposite side)

Most of what you've said is absolutely correct. However, to be fair, BTS started from the bottom in a little-known tiny company and clawed their way up to the Global Powerhouse they and HYBE are today. The results of BTS's hardwork have given NewJeans the resources and huge platform the girls needed to show the industry and a bigger global audience how awesome NJs is and quickly become so successful. As for BP, from day 1, they also had the advantage of being from a Big3 company that had previously produced famous groups such as BigBang and 2NE1. So it's like comparing apples and oranges here.
@@p.a.681 fine fair....let's leave BTS out of it and just compare to similar situations (Big 3, groups who follow in the footsteps of a previously successful gg within the company) so this excludes 2NE1, Wonder Girls, and SES since they were the first gg of their respective companies. SNSD, f(x), aespa, BP, Miss A, Twice, Itzy, NMixx. I think with the exception of Twice and BP.....the beginning of NJ is better than all of the groups on that list. Even SNSD struggled early. We'll see if they last as long as Twice and BP
I think it shows the relationship most of us had with kpop.
A lot of us found a kpop group at a time we were very alone, a time where we felt misunderstood or like we didn't belong anywhere. I found BTS at a very low point in my life, I was about to commmit su!cide, and the one thing that pushed me out of that rock bottom was BTS. It's escapism in a way, but once you grow up, and you're able to look how that codependency is not okay, you understand what finding that group did for you, but you cannot depend on them to keep you alive. It is not their job to make sure you're okay. You need to do that for yourself.
Only when the main character of the MV realized this, that New Jeans weren't really her friends just a group she loved and helped her through tough times, was she able to connect with Choi Hyunwook's character, that's why they walk off together at the end.
The deer to me signifies fantasy, when the deer leaves it means the fantasy ends and now she must face reality.

As who wrote the song: the girls themselves! I mean they had help but they are also credited with writing their songs.
Also another trivia bit: the girl who plays Heesoo is the girl from the Netflix show all of us are dead! Park Ji hoo aka On Jo on the show!

Theory 1. Ban Heesoo's (girl recording new jeans) cast represents a car accident Newjeans died and she was the only survivor. but Heesoo is in denial of Newjeans death and continues to film them as if they were still there through her imagination. the deer is a reminder of the car crash and her breaking the camera symbolizes her moving on.
Theory 2. Ditto is about the relationship between kpop stans and idols; Ban hee soo whose name sounds like bunnies (nwjns fandom names) symbolizes stans. stans often focus on their idols and disregard their personal life and what is happening around them, as Heesoo continues to flim NewJeans she fails to realize that they are pure imagination and are not actually there; showcasing how fans create memories of them watching and interacting with idol content often forgetting that they don't personally know idols and therefore should not base their whole life on people they may never meet. after hee soo breaks her camera she walks away with a guy from her school(most likely a love interest), it shows how fans should also move on with their life rather than give up their life growth for kpop.
In my opinion theory one has way more proof then 2 tbh

So much lore and connections and possibilities behind this video (& OMG!!) plus the 2 Korean actors in it . Are they alive, are/were they friends, is it symbolism for fan/idol relationships and the way they extend into real life at different ages as you go from child to adult and form new relationships along the way.? Who can tell? What does the deer mean? What does the chalk board drawing and the legs being rubbed away mean? What does the camera being dropped mean?
Ban Heesoo (the girl behind the camera) has her own YT channel... find clues there...a clue is in the girl's name...

The girl recording new jeans (Ban Heesoo) the reason her face doesn't get shown because it's supposed to represent the fandom (bunnies) I'm guessing they're saying that they relate to us? I'm not sure I saw it in a explanation video but I forgot a bit of it

Ditto MV is connected to OMG. First of all, in the case of Ditto, who was released first, Hee-soo, who was lonely at school, almost escaped the world in delusion by looking at the male lead in the beginning, but at the end of the video, he avoids it in the rain.
In the later OMG, Min-ji, the main character of Hee-soo's shouting of Hee-soo at the end of Ditto, tells the girl who writes malicious comments on Twitter(악플,악성댓글), with a message that daydreaming girls like Hee-soo should escape this delusion as the main characters.
This is a cyberbullying that newjeans suffered after releasing cookies, and it is about pinching the delusion that has been actively reproduced on Twitter through sexual commercialization of cookies and teenagers.

With NewJeans I think we’re looking at the start of the 5th generation. I know it’s still the 4th generation but with NewJeans you just get something completely different from what we’re seeing right now in kpop. As for the song Ditto, it does not have a lasting impression on me like Hype Boy and Attention but it was okay.
