This bike is awesome, and you can fix the weight problem super easily. The tires that come on it weigh 2 pounds a pop and they have garbage grip. Replace them with some demolition hammerheads or momentums. You cut the weight down nearly 2 full pounds and get tires that wont put your face into a bowl corner (speaking from experience) for like $60.

I just bought it right out of the store 620 bucks for the bike a chain different pedals and God it was worth every penny. This bikes as solid as all the old stolen BMX bikes I rode for years. I have the grayish blue version it's great in every way I have zero complaints.
Just DL'd your app and subbed. I'm just a 170lb 39yo dad, I jump like table tops and try to help my kid out a little. No tail whipping just some dirt jumps and some pump stuff (pgh wheel mill!!) Some BMX track too I'm torn between the kink whip and DK Cygnus. I currently own an 06 dk Cincinnati. Need to upgrade. I ride a gt performer but it's junking on me and I'm not trying to put money into that. Thanks for your content.
If there’s one thing bad about the whip it’s the tires they’re so heavy and slow. Switching those out for something lighter would definitely benefit in cutting that weight
I bought a Kink Launch on Sept. 16th. On October 15th I was doing a crash replacement upgrade to the Whip due to a bent frame. Honestly, no reputable bmx company should be using anything other than 4130. Do you research before you buy, I wish I would've seen this first.
I am 5'5" and I have this bike. I love Riding a park on it. I also love street more. It definitely will take the abuse but I've had to change a lot of the aftermarket parts that were on it. I added a gyro system I upgraded the forks, cranks, headset and stem and the bike is way more responsive. I also switch to a free coaster which is essential and added pegs. In my opinion this is the best bike I've ever owned. I asked for one of your recommendations and you sent it to me but I can't find the email anywhere. Is there any way you could send it to me again

@@Sender60 me? The first thing I upgraded was the rims... Nothing against mission but I got a set of shadows with a freecoaster. 2nd was stem bars and headset... I got the Kink high rise integrated headset added a gyro got the Kink bold hrd stem. I think that's what it's called. I got Odyssey Forks I got cult 4 piece bars and Rant chrome Bangin 48s and a new rant 19mm middle bottom bracket until I could afford the Power bites I want. I got a merritt thick half link chain and The kink tires seemed awfully heavy so I went ahead and went with a set of Maxxis hookworms. Those are small compared to what most people ride these days but I like them. I am debating on switching back to two-piece bars though so basically the only original thing on my bike is the frame and brakes but I still have all of this stuff that came off of it. If you're going to upgrade you might have to do it a little bit at the time because prices are getting high but I would go with switching rims first. I think that a free coaster is a necessity because a lot of people just can't get that pedal and backwards thing down riding on a cassette but if you're on a budget then I would go with names like Rant or Salt Plus or Mission. Even though Mission parts are starting to get as expensive of everything else. Good luck brother I hope you come out with the perfect bike for you
It really comes down to height. I say they are both similar in terms of quality. If you’re tall like over 6’ choose between the whip xl or devotion. Pick the one you like more, if your 5’6 to 5’9 go with the 20.5 whip

I'm 5ft. 8in., would I want the regular or XL?

@@Dougsterbob I think it'll be a tossup between the Whip and Letum then. I want to see what the Letum looks like this year. Color is pretty important if I'm gonna be spending $500+. Seems like 20.75 would be the max for me and 20.5 would be ideal. I'd be going to parks, but not ones you'd see at the X Games. I don't mind buying the hub guards and pegs. Although I thinking buying pegs by 1 is stupid and a waste of money. I'd get the Letum because if comes with everything I would eventually need. Just really hate 4 piece bars.

They went on sale when the 2023 models started to get made. They will probably be back in a few months once the new models arrive! But finding a 2022 will be impossible for a while
I weighed mine after putting it together with breaks on all stock 25.4 lbs now have demolition momentum tires lighter tubes and better cranks, chain and sprocket bet it lost 2lbs or more there. Tires alone I believe are 2lbs lighter and tore still is a 2.41" tire.

Oh no. The switch scores a 6 quality. I messed that up lol it’s a great choice over the whip if you are a street focused rider

The height and size combo really affects the way the bike handles so it will work but it might be different then you’d expect
