The perfect fun summer movie. A coming of age story that can be read many ways. It's so cute and the animation is so, so beautiful. I'd love to have a series to watch just so I could see more of the characters.

After two viewings, Luca became my favorite Pixar movie (I’ve now seen it over 20 times). The way the characters were written and portrayed as well as the themes and messages really spoke to me.
For example, Giulia’s family situation (split family and feeling like an outsider in a different city when going to visit your other parent) and how it was treated by not making it a big deal like it is in so many pieces of media. This is something I’ve basically been dealing with for my entire life and it felt nice to have it be recognized that not all families are perfect but that just because they’re not doesn’t mean they can’t work.
Luca’s curiosity and drive to learn more about the world around him also really resonated with me. And I see him in the end going to stay in the human world while balancing and accepting his differences as a loose metaphor for immigration. My mom and dad are German immigrants to the U.S and my step mom is a Colombian immigrant and they all still have lots of family in their respective countries. While I’m in the U.S and have to figure how to balance my cultural heritage and family with the ideas and culture of where I live.
I was also kind of the outsider/weird kid in school too and the trio friendship setup is almost the same with the friends I had in grade school (and still friends to this day) so it was nice to remember that.
The movie’s way of portraying acceptance and talking about it also helped me to do some introspection of myself and helped me to acknowledge and accept the fact that I’m asexual.
Luca may be a simple movie plot wise but the profound way it has affected me and the time it’s come at the end of a major cycle of personal growth (graduating high school, starting college, reconnecting with my mom’s side of the family and restoring a line of communication that had been broken for almost 15 years, losing several friends and family members, surviving a pandemic) has solidified it as one of my favorite movies of all time.

3:32 ...its never confirmed but I think they are some sort of evolved axolotl. They look very similar to axolotl - which is a type of amphibian and a unique type of salamander. They are adorable and they have that same sort of plume on the sides of their heads. They're just several stages of evolution later.

0:36 Encanto and Ice Age are not Pixar. Encanto is Walt Disney Animation Studios and Ice Age was Blue Sky Studios but then they got shut down and it’s Disney now.

Brought to you by Pixar starring Jacob Tremblay as Luca; a sea monster boy who appears human whenever he ventures out into the outside world. What he and his friend Alberto want is a Vespa which is a special type of bike. However to get it they must win a race

This is one of those movies that I think are *nice* but nothing _that_ special and people tend to overestimate just because it's Disney/Pixar.
A couple of things...the songs from this movie are italian classics and are all very good BUT they have *absolutely nothing* to do with the plot. And the worse thing is that there _would_ have been a song that would have been 100% *PERFECT* for this movie which is"50 Special"from Lunapop, since it was literally about a Vespa 🛵 but they didn't put it probably because it's from the '90s,but,I mean...AT LEAST IN THE CREDITS,C'MON!!!X-O
Another thing I didn't appreciate(but this only applies to the italian dubbing)is that they didn't took the chance to make the characters speak Ligurian dialect..at least in some moments in which the characters were speaking Italian in the original version and Luca&Alberto misunderstood them..it would have made sense! But nope!"The characters from "Brave"and"How to Train Your Dragon"have a Scottish accent,in the '70s Thomas O'Malley was turned from Irish to Roman and called Romeo er più der Coloseo(Romeo the best of the Colosseum)but God forbid to have Ligurian characters speaking Ligurian in 2021!!🙄
Anyway..it's still nice having a movie settled in my Country..I guess...💚🤍❤🍝🍕
    P.S. What's with Disney and Bruno recently?!?😅First:"Silenzio,Bruno!!",now:"We don't talk about Bruno!"...poor Brunos...they'll have a rough time these years!;-S
OK...after all the complains...I'm gonna translate a few italian lines...
    01:46 On the map there's the Ligurian Sea(on the left)and Sea Island(on the right). 02:20 Branzino = European Bass.🐟
    06:14 - 06:18 Nice to meet you.Gerolamo Trumpet.
06:35 The poster says"Vespa is Freedom".😎(Also.."Vespa"is also the italian translation of"Wasp".FYI.)
07:45 The song playing here? It's about the Cat&the Fox from"Pinocchio".As I said..nothing to do with what is _actually_ going on in the movie. ...But it's a very nice song.
    08:21 You probably guessed it,but:"Silenzio,Bruno!"means:"Shut up,Bruno!"(literally:"Silence,Bruno!")
09:45 Fun personal fact:my mum's name is Daniela,my maternal grandpa's name is Ugo and my dad's name is Vincenzo(and we usually call him Enzo)..pretty much all Luca's relatives have the same names mine have or pretty close!😄
    10:39 - 10:42 Expecially _italian_ food!😎
    11:05 - 11:06 "Good morning,everyone!" 11:17 and 11:44 "Just stop it!"
    11:12 - 11:13 You sure?;-P
12:57 - 12:59 One of the few occasions in which falling on the ground instead of in the water is considered"the right direction"!;-P
13:31 The newspapers say:"What creature is this?"and:"Monster spotted at the island."
    15:46 - 15:47 Holy Pecorino(a type of cheese). 24:58 - 25:00 Holy Ricotta(another type of cheese).
16:28 Lady.(Or Mrs.) 16:59 Little one. 18:51 This book belongs to...
20:11 The only song that is _almost_ close to the theme of the scene, but it's the wrong recepie(tomato instead of pesto)!X-P
20:33 Let's go!!! 20:40 Rascals!! 20:43 _Porca paletta!!_ 😄😄😄 That's an exclamation like:"Holy...something."in English, but literally the closest translation is like female swine spatula or something?😅I don't know,it's just funny.
    21:48 Boys/guys. Also...🥺💔 23:43 Done! 23:47 Eat,idiot!Faster! 24:10 Ops.Sorry.😈
28:11 - 28:28 If the picture is the one Im thinking of,I guess you could see the sea"monster"half of Luca underwater..you just didn't notice it.😉🌊
