It's actually normal to wake up during the night. The issue is not reacting to it and then falling back to sleep. It's making it mean something negative that's the issue
yeah, if I could sleep from 11PM-3AM, be awake for two hours and sleep from 5AM - 9AM/9:30ish, I think that is what I would thrive the best on... But unfortunately, with the way we have structured the world, it isn't really and option to sleep in like that, due to the A's tyranny. ...and that is what makes that problematic.
Try the carnivore diet. The brain runs optimally on ketones and I've gotten rid of severe depression and anxiety on it. But now I can't sleep because my brain is too energized. Doesn't happen to everyone.
Yes, I commonly wake up at 4am. But I have a wonderfully rested feeling and use it for quality quiet time, usually doing something mentally productive, and then go back to sleep at about 6am to 8am. This is called "sleep splitting". It's not for everyone, but it works great for me once I realized that I can - and should - just allow myself to go back to sleep again after a couple of hours.
Same here. I have heard it called biphasic sleep. I started doing this in the early days of covid and have continued since I still work from home. I wake up around 4:30, sit up until 6 and then sleep until around 8. The “second sleep” as I call it is the most restful sleep I ever get. It is like the time between the two sleep periods is a time to reset my body and emotional state and then I sleep really well.
I am 65 years old...and for last 4 months suffering the same ...best solution sleep 2 hours after lunch ..to fill-up the gap..... Above all no panic ....it's not a serious problem.....after few months it'll be normal again .. Thank you from Philipines..Cebu city. Thank you
the voice of this person is possibly one of the most calming sounds i have ever heard!!! It's so soft, and beautiful and lovely that i feel my body wind down immediately watching these videos :,) thank you for these gentle explanations! ^-^
I’m seventy two. I exercise, walk and eat well. I don’t smoke or drink. I go to bed at 10 pm and I fall asleep almost instantly, but wake up any time between 2 am to 4 am. It may be a full bladder coupled with thirst, or just no reason at all. If I wake up at 4 am or later, I consider myself lucky. I suppose that my experience is not necessarily unique.
I get up early to run. But when I have a longer run planned my sleep can be a bit stressed. Now I don’t plan a long run until I take my blood pressure and heart rate when I wake up. Then I make my daily run plan based on my heart rate and blood pressure. Now I have nothing to worry about the night before and I sleep better.
About an hour after I wake up I take a nap. And it doesn't matter how much sleep I get. I could sleep 5. 6, 8, or 10 hours, and my brain still falls asleep. I have a thyroid problem, I found out.
My schedule is based around waking up at 4 a.m so even on my off days I'm up at 5 a.m latest. Or 3 a.m on the early side. It's honestly nice in terms of waking up to workout or just be up and alone for a few before interacting with the world. I've found I enjoy it. Now I need to go to bed much earlier and it definitely took a long time to adjust to but I love it now!
@@cgarza288 🤔Interesting . . . It's so calming for me too . . . Isn't it "funny" how diff't people respond differently to the exact same situation? We humans are a trip! Lol
Common causes of insomnia include stress, an irregular sleep schedule, poor sleeping habits, mental health disorders like anxiety and depression, physical illnesses and pain, medications, neurological problems, and specific sleep disorders. But the worst and unavoidable reason is AGEING. Yes. as we age we sleep less and we sleep lighter.
I’m 63 years old and my Apple Watch says I do not breathe deep enough when I sleep. My O2 readings are usually between 90 and 94%. I think I wake up in the night, first to go P, because of pain as well, and sometimes I think I just wake up so I can move around a little more and get oxygenated. First two things I’m sure of. Does anybody know if dropping O2 levels wake us up or not? And how low is too low for your O2 level according to your Apple Watch.
70 years old and I’ve learned to enjoy my night owl ways despite the negative portrayal of insomnia. I get up for a couple of hours, read a book or play chess, watch a video or two, or check social media and news that may have developed. Then I’m tired again and I go back to bed to actually sleep an hour or two, up with first light of dawn every morning. Don’t want to waste the time I have left. I’ve survived this far with minimal sleep from my wacky job as an ER doc of 35 years, so I ain’t gonna change now. Thanks for your video and views, but I disagree! Sleeping 8 hrs a night isn’t for everybody.
Personally my problem didn't start until menopause. I used to sleep like a log. I've tried all these things mentioned, so I pretty much think hormones are to blame. Tons of women I've talked to say the same thing. Never getting the same good sleep they had pre-menopause. I have a very physical and demanding job and it is very hard to function with 6 hours of sleep for me. I literally always feel tired.🥺
I've given up problem started age 35 gradually got worse. Now 81 I can go 2 nights without sleep then only few hrs. wake up again. Sometimes just take a sleeping pill be done with it even a shot with it works. All this stuff about how we need sleep. How about some research into it without addiction.
Yup and Drs just try to put you on antidepressants or anti anxiety meds that cause other side effects. My old GP finally put me on Hormone replacements for 5 yrs and they were the best years. Menopausal issues were gone within a few days. Slept great. Anxiety gone. Didn't even get sick during that time. Unfortunately the symptoms came back. 8 yrs later and still have them. New Dr is of no help and she's a woman too.
Stressed-out people: try jotting your worries or "to do's" on paper before you sleep, or when you wake at 3 am. In my most stressed out times in life that has helped. It's like downloading your worries out of your mind and you won't forget to deal with them in the morning.
My problem is I seem to over do and re do To Do’ lists as a distraction which stresses me more as it becomes an alternative to taking action and the issues affecting my life don’t get action, increasing my anxieties. Watch ‘To Do’ lists as they can become pleasurable and fooling your brain you dealing with your issues
5 years ago I got a job that requires me to get up at 4 am, I go to bed at 9 pm. I work 6am-2. Even on the weekends I get up by 5:30 am. I feel better than ever; well rested, energetic and I get so much accomplished. Sometimes I take a 20-30 minute nap around 3 pm. For me, it's the best schedule.
But have you tried to change or fix your sleep rhythm? My husband is a marine, and he tried to set his day up to ensure he’d be able to sleep through the night. He's been in for six years now, and with some minor life adjustments, he sleeps through the night.
This happened to me quite a lot during my PhD Studies. Now that I am finished, it does not happen so much now. only when I am stressed about something.
Hey Christine. So crazy, but I saw another one of your posts earlier on an another video. I recognized you because of your discussion on your PhD. This never happens. Just thought I’d say hello. Have a good night.
No, not ever. Even as a kid I didn’t sleep well. University and work subsequently made it worse. I can only sleep an hour or two at a time. It’s 2:52am and I am writing comments on sleep disorders.
The videos by JASON STEPHENSON are helpful. SLEEP TALK DOWN and other anti insomnia tapes are good. His voice is soothing and his philosophy is sound. Nite nite. 💜💤💤💤💤💤
For what is worth, what did the trick for me was taking a magnesium supplement. It worked over night, took it in the morning and that night, no more waking at 4 am, and it was going on for more than 2 months straight with constant 4 am waking. Slept through the night. I believe stress and anxiety might deplete magnesium from the body. At least it worked for me, just my two cents ...
When I was in the Peace Corps, I was living a simple life without electricity, no screen time because *no screens*, reading voraciously, experiencing and learning new things every day, spending time in nature and exercising, feeling meaning and purpose every day, and going to bed when it got dark and waking up with the sun. Best sleep of my life. Living now in a very different reality of modern life and the stress of city living, I don't know if I will ever get that back again. But I am trying.
This sounds divine. So simple but yet so hard. If I go to bed at eg 8pm, I'd be awake at 12.30am..... And be wide awake! I'm waking up naturally, between 3am and 4.30am these days, which I love. I've left work and moved house and my life is so different. - I feel like I'm in heaven. I just need to spend my early mornings really productively, before I fall back to sleep at 8am...
I've always been a two session sleeper. Waking up in the middle of the night, then going back to sleep after pottering about for a bit. I read somewhere that this was a common feature of life in the middle ages.
I'd like to stress that one of, if not the most common sleeping advice is having a routine. I started graveyard this year, and while I still have nights (or days) where I don't get at least 7 hours of sleep, I can wholeheartedly recommend having a routine. It doesn't have to be rigid, but set time windows for what you do in the evening. Good luck getting more sleep folks!
My best relief was to before bed time write down all things that were stressing/bothering me (even the small things), and also have some pen and paper by bedisde so that I could write down any thoughts that were rolling around in my head. I never believed it could have been so effective, literally the next night I already slept so much better.
I love waking up at 3 every morning on my own, no alarm. I go to bed around 8 with all my chores done and the house ready for tomorrow. My workout is between 5 and 6 everyday then I watch a half hour of news and start the rest of my day. I've been doing this for years and love it. There's really nothing to do at night. We just waste time and wait for bedtime to come.
Hi, I just flew from New Zealand to germany and I'm having a bad Jetlag. I actually WANT to not change it, because I am more productive in the morning and I won't be tired in school. The only problem is, I wake up only after 5 hours of sleep, but I'm not tired when I do. I know it is unhealthy. I want to sleep from 10pm to 5am, but I always wake up at 3am
"If you always wake up between 3 - 5AM, here's why" *flashbacks to being 9 and waking up at 3AM and being terrified bc of those fake 3AM challenge videos*
A lot of these feel to me like they are targeting those having difficulty getting to sleep to start with, rather than those waking in the middle of the night who maybe have no trouble at all falling asleep. This is the problem I seem to have, I fall asleep quickly, usually within minutes of putting my head on the pillow (sorry to those who don’t!), but, it seems to me that after around 4 hours of sleep I naturally wake up and then struggle to get back to sleep, and it often feels that no sooner have I managed to get back to sleep, then the alarm wakes me up, and I feel grogy.
I got the same impression -- nearly everything in this video is more applicable to falling asleep than to staying asleep. As for anxiety creating sleep disturbances in the middle of the night, if it's a chronic problem the solution is likely to require some therapy, not just hacks.
literally just woke up from this exact scenario 😭 was looking for a solution cus I'm tired asl of it. it's so strange because when I was younger this used to be an everyday thing, but as I got older it slowly stopped. Only till a few months ago it's started again and I have no idea what triggers it. At least I can fall back asleep pretty easy.
@Lawrence Dunn - you should look into Bi-phasic sleep. Since the dawn of mankind people would go to sleep when it became dark (first sleep) then wake between 11-2am get up and read, mend, check on livestock, visit neighbors, etc. When they became sleepy they would go back to bed and sleep til dawn. Sleeping 8 hours straight is more of a modern idea once electricity was wide-spread. You should try it. It will lower your anxiety of not being able to fall back asleep. However, no screens like phones, laptops, or TV during the awake period.
I listened to your video yesterday. I have been waking between 2am and 4am every morning for weeks. Last night I woke at 2.35am. Following your advice I had taken a small square of chocolate to bed with me. When I woke I ate the chocolate. I went back to sleep almost immediately and slept for a total of 6hrs 44minutes. Thank you so much. Your theory makes sense and it worked for me. I am so grateful to you.
In India that's called brahmamuhurta, the most productive time of the day. It's almost 2 hours before sunrise time, and it feels so fresh. We generally do Dhyan, pranayama nd Yoga at this time.
What happened to me : I slept at 22:00 I wake up at 00:16 I slept again at 00:20 I wake up at 2:30 I slept at 2:36 I wake up at 3:48 Last thing I slept at 3:49 I wake up at 6:10 good morning 🌄 These are my things happend
This is similar to my sleeping pattern. I go to bed at 22:00 by midnight I've been to the toilet three times. Then I sleep for roughly two hours then up again to toilet. It depends on how I'm feeling as to how long it takes to fall back to sleep. After I've fallen asleep I'm awake again two hours later. Toilet yet again. By now I'm exhausted but snatched naps until the alarm goes off. It's then I could sleep 😴
The first thing: I do none of those, I just lay in bed a solid hour without any devices on. I find I can only get to sleep after I've gone into my other world (escapism) 2: I do have stress and anxiety, but again ^ escapism gets me off to sleep. 3: I do have low blood sugar when I start around for hours, not when sleeping. 4: I wake up at 4am because my cat jumps on me and tells me it's time for her to go out before it gets too hot. 😂 then it became a habit and now I'm always awake at 4am When I was a teenage I did sleep for 15 hours a day, I had undiagnosed hypothyroidism at the time.
I am watching this at 3 a.m. and my life is better then it has in the past 5 years. Coincidently it's the first time in 5 years I had a nightmare. I don't know why this is happening or what is causing it. Also something about me is that I have never actually have had a good dream, or even a dream, just nightmares. And to the one person who does this, I know that this week will be absolutely amazing for you.
@The Emo Trans Bimbo or maybe they research for this info. Maybe they're psychologists themselves and want to spread some known info to the public. They're definitely not psychic, they aren't fortunetellers.
@The Emo Trans Bimbo well it's hard to detect sarcasm from people on the internet because tone doesn't really exist so you could have at the very least put /s at the end or edit it so it "LoOks LikE ThIS." also, it's woooosh. with four o's. you could have simply said that instead of going on a tangent :) 👌
@The Emo Trans Bimbo Well some things on the internet don't seem far-fetched. Those people might not mean for it to be serious and since you don't know anyone's tone on the internet, that can lead to miscommunication. That's why they use /s or using the capitals everywhere in the words notion so people know it isn't true. It's a fundamental value in communication, you'll need to know when someone is sarcastic or serious otherwise that can completely change the mood of the conversation. It's completely why I thought you were being serious in the first place, so we were both at fault. So root cause: You didn't mean to be serious, that caused miscommunication up until now. Is that fine with you?
Low blood sugar might describe why I woke up around 5 am today utterly starving! I do have trouble sleeping and always have, but I recently learned I am sensitive to sound. I've been wearing comfortable ear plugs (Loops for anyone interested) and that has drastically helped me fall asleep and stay asleep. Instead of hearing every tiny sound, I hear my own breathing which helps me focus on that instead of my thoughts and I find it soothing. I still hear loud sounds like my alarm, but I don't wake to the sound of birds at 4-5 am anymore or my cat running around at 3. Playing with sound, light, and other stimuli might help some people figure out what wakes them up
I was not aware of that. My blood sugar test came back at 87. Have lots of trouble sleeping anytime before midnight and might sleep 4-5 hours and wake and most of the times won't be able to sleep anymore. Very frustrating
I have low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and have found that I wake up at these times regularly (I also have to go the bathroom!) and I sometimes feel hungry. If I eat some cereal, I have found that I fall back asleep for an extra hour. Thank you for that information, it makes sense now.
Here’s my reason: Hearing a noise and thinking there’s someone in my house and then arming my bedroom with frying pans and mousetraps and sleeping in the closet
Other reasons: needing to pee at 4am; not getting enough exercise during the day; a room that is too warm / or a bed partner whose body temperature is high. You need a cool room and dropping body temperature to sleep well; children or pets disrupting sleep. For this reason I do not allow children or pets in the room where I sleep. I do not mind getting up to see to unhappy children in the night, but they are not allowed in my bed which is sacrosanct.
I had been waking up between 3-5 for a week now and I desperately needed some advice or a solution, it was very stressful. I woke up at 4am today after sleeping for around 4.5hrs (or less) and I felt soo drained but still I couldn't go back to sleep and I guess you guys heard me Thank you soo much
Same. I just love it, and I'm wide awake when I wake up... I'll make a coffee and go back to bed, sit up and open my ipad..... and that's where my wheels fall off. I'll check out youtube and start playing a game and lose hours. Around 8am I'm falling asleep and will snuggle under the covers and sleep for the next 2 hours. - I need to train myself to do 1 major thing when I'm having my coffee... Number 1 thing on my Todo list would be awesome. That way I'm being productive and constructive, instead of wasting time. - Discipline.
The military did experiments to see how much sleep they needed in combat, and the answer was 3 hours. So don't sweat it. I routinely only get 4 hours, then toss and turn for 2-3 before getting up. But I feel more awake than my wife. If she wakes up just 1 minute from her 7 hours, it is like the end of the world to her.
Last night, I ended up going to bed at around 11:40 PM or so, and I woke up randomly at 4:30 in the morning after some dream I had. However, it’s not all the time this happens. I have very high anxiety levels either during the day or at night, and I’ve had instances at night where I’m struggling to get to sleep. Sometimes I don’t get enough sleep, so I take a nap in the middle of the day in hopes that I will catch up on lost hours of sleep. A lot of the time, I feel like I’m low on energy to really get up and move around. I’m also trying to avoid caffeine altogether, because even that messes with my anxiety. Thanks for posting this
My biggest problem was taking in too much sugar before bed. I couldn't eat ice cream or anything real sweet before bed because it would keep me awake almost all night. Once I cut out the sugar I had no more problems sleeping.
This video has important messages about getting a good night's sleep, but there is also a positive reason to be up at such a time. This time of day has spiritual significance. Often called “ambrosial hours,” the 2 1/2 hours before sunrise when the sun is at a 60-degree angle to the Earth. This time of day is well-documented in many cultures to be paramount for meditation and spiritual growth. If you find yourself well rested but waking up at this time, you may want to consider capitalizing on the benefits of some self-work while you're up. Namaste! :)
It’s actually a very good time to meditate. On formal Meditation Retreats, the wake up bell is at 4am and participants come to the hall by 4.30am. Of course bed time is at 9.30 pm after a full days program so there’s still time for a good 7 hours sleep before getting up refreshed the next morning.
R these meditation retreats like rehab? Bc not every1 has the luxury or finances for that. Which is prob why they’re having trouble 😴 in the 1st place!
I went to a public rehab in Brisbane Australia, for 8 months which wasn't expensive but these residential treatment facilities are very rare, I was very desperate, sick and lucky to get a bed...and relapsed when leaving 😢 but am 3 years sober and well now on 12 step recovery program. Very greatful I have found though that there are formal meditation retreats of varying capacities that are also low cost or free if you can't afford but you may need to have undertaken safe or clinical detox before committing to a retreat of any nature that's not drug / alcohol addiction informed and treatment resourced if you are really unwell. Just my experience, but also have seen this in others who have pursued recovery from drug and alcohol addiction if that's the sort of rehabilitation you are speaking of. Namaste 🙏
Try different pillow set-ups, sleeping positions, noise control, lighting, body temp. In terms of body temp, sometimes a fan helps keep a favorable sleeping temp. Some people run hot or cold while sleeping.
I love this channel and community so much, this is so relaxing and people are not afraid to talk + I've never seen such kind people everywhere. It's overwhelming!
Pretty cool ppl on JASON STEPHENSON meditation and anti insomnia vids also. And knowledge able, polite ppl in the Japanese sumo community too. Just sayin'.
The painful urge to go to the bathroom wakes me up at around 3am every night. No matter if I don't take a drink of anything for at least a couple of hours before bed or even using the restroom any trying to squeeze out every last drop. For some reason I release at lease a cup of water at 3am. It's been going on since my dough pregnancy, 11 years ago 😐
It's just one video with all the two-hour time ranges of waking up changed. The the algorithms send you the video applicable to the time you checked your feed last night. Weerry twicky!
Two things have helped me recently. One, stop doing the thing I used to do early in the morning. This way, if I happen to get up at 3, I can tell myself it's ok to go back to sleep even if I miss my normal waking time (I don't use an alarm so I suppose if I did, I'd ditch that useless device). And second, I've started to read at bed time. This replaces video viewing that seems to have the same sleep value as taking a shot of whiskey - it works in the short term but it wears off while you're asleep.
@Clarissa I don't work but when I was a teen I averaged about 3 hours sleep weekdays and a couple more on weekends. Now I get 4 to 7 broken up during the day depending on the noisy neighbors & construction.
My problems are that it takes me at least an hour after laying down to actually fall asleep. I am always thirsty and often drink a couple drinks within an hour before bed. (Milk and soda) If I wake up at 3 am I am out of luck because I have to get up at 5am to get ready for work and with the hour it takes me to fall asleep I usually can't before get up time. Too much stress messes up my sleep too. I work full time and am doing online college of 18 units per semester. Just too much stress for me.
I do none of these and still wake up. I had a night shift life most of my life and my circadian rhythm is ruined. At times i can sleep nights but if i get upset or severe weather is coming ,forget it. Sometimes i have had too much decaf tea and have to get up . Its one thing or another. Also depression, loneliness, anxiety and stress can cause it.
people with chronic pain: sure... staring at the ceiling with nothing but the pain to think about for the next four hours is the way to go. Yeah, thanks.
YES! The chronic pain is a sleep preventer for sure. Go to sleep exhausted, get up at 2 or 3ish, stub my damn toe getting out of bed just to stretch out and walk off the pain. Get back in bed and the dog took my spot! I give up!
This video is helpfull because all the things relate to me this is my sisters mobile I am writing this comment from here because I am just 11. I wake up at 3 am so I think devil hour and after that me also wake up at 5 am l am a muslim so I think now angle want me to pray fajar the azan at 4 am but we can pray at 5am the time did not get end at 4am . After watching this video I tell my mom about low sugar ones because at the time I get very hungry she said now put biscuits in the room or any candt
I always wake up at 3-5 am even if I sleep early. If I don't return immediately back to sleep it affects my energy levels. I've noticed stress affects sleep badly yesterday I kept waking up multiples times. The times I had to get up early for interviews, work, classes I wake up 1hr before alarm clock. Also can be hard for me to fall asleep immediately.
Boy, you hit this one on the head for me, it is almost every night I wake up during this time. Non-smoker and I eat very little if anything before sleep, but occasionally I will have a cocktail at night so that may be contributing. I am retired now so no real work pressures except with my wife’s business (lots of arguments). So, some things to work on.
I am active both physically and mentally ! I have always been , even at an early age . My mind was trained in military school and it structured me ! I have always been creative, it’s in my DNA ! I have always looked at what I could do to improve my life and that of others ! Anybody can do , it if you care about yourself ! Nobody is going to look after #1 but you ! Sleep is important , if we can get our mind off our state of affairs , it’s damn hard ! 😡
Eat yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, bowl of cereal (with milk), ice cream, or peanut butter before you go to sleep. Cravings for "sugar" may actually be craving protein. Eat too much sugar in the evening can make you stay awake longer and waking up sooner.
Some cheeses and chocolate will also cause weird or bad dreams too...I think just adding dessert after dinner would be best. Eating before bed isn't the best idea.
@@Psych2go she speaks spanish and good amount of italian, but don't worry, I can just tell her by talking However thanks for the concern, I didn't expect my comment would make you try to help with the barrier language 😅
Man, even at 2 years old, I’d wake up in the wee hours, bored af in my crib, watching the shadows and not able to sleep because I was simply awake. I’d be thinking. Still do. Brain doesn’t have an off switch. I tried to escape the crib, but that just netted punishment. They weren’t cool with me roaming the house with nothing interesting to do. Still a night person, we are just a different sort of people. Usually creative, odd people are the night people. We keep the world functioning while the rest of y’all sleep, and later call us “lazy” when we “sleep in”, getting 2-5 hrs of sleep a day.
That's interesting. I think my sister is like that. We used to have massive fights because I'd be trying to sleep at 10pm and she'd still be up making noises at 1am lmao
I used to be the "wake up person" at a boarding school. (I had to go around and ring a little bell till they woke up) Never slept that year, cause I was scared my alarm wouldn't wake me up because it happened to me one time and it was horrible. I'm still recovering
wow if this video isnt great timing im not sure what is, i havent been sleeping much the past few days :( thanks for always making high quality videos for everyone, we appreciate you!
Any chance you could do a video on some more complex sleep patterns? I sleep for 3 hour slots, waking up around the 3 hour mark every single time, I'd love to understand why.
Dread. That sums it up for me. Knowing that the day that awaits me will rob me of my energy, and my time to do the things that I want to do but don’t have the time or energy to do after my work day.
Night owls! Why do you stay up late? :) P.S our Merch is slowly coming together. Can’t wait to show everyone!
Hi!
YAAAYY!!
Hello :D
Because something was banging on my window and I was terrified and stayed up all night terrified
I stay up late because I can't sleep lmao

Here’s one of those things
1. Your lifestyle choices
2. Your emotional state
3. Low blood sugar
Thanks for one of those things.
Definitely my emotional state and lifestyle choices
I think for me it’s a combination of the three.
Me who wakes up on 1:00:

I will pick the 3rd option, time to eat some donuts

I have that and I'm 54.

About an hour after I wake up I take a nap. And it doesn't matter how much sleep I get. I could sleep 5. 6, 8, or 10 hours, and my brain still falls asleep. I have a thyroid problem, I found out.
same problem, but did anyone of you get better? N how?
My schedule is based around waking up at 4 a.m so even on my off days I'm up at 5 a.m latest. Or 3 a.m on the early side. It's honestly nice in terms of waking up to workout or just be up and alone for a few before interacting with the world. I've found I enjoy it. Now I need to go to bed much earlier and it definitely took a long time to adjust to but I love it now!

I heard that too, I’m 62 and I think that contributes to my sleep problems
Yes, I’ve read that and I can certainly vouch for that being in my mid-60s. Aging is no fun.
It worked over night, took it in the morning and that night, no more waking at 4 am, and it was going on for more than 2 months straight with constant 4 am waking. Slept through the night.
Only one thing that actually seriously interferes with my sleep quality: stress, stress and anxiety. Oh and did I mention mental stress already ?
I hear you. I have same issues
That pretty much sums it up.

Same boat. I'm going for a sleep test soon as this has been months-long.
I got the same impression -- nearly everything in this video is more applicable to falling asleep than to staying asleep. As for anxiety creating sleep disturbances in the middle of the night, if it's a chronic problem the solution is likely to require some therapy, not just hacks.
@@mwatson4970 would be interested to hear how you get on with the sleep test
literally just woke up from this exact scenario 😭 was looking for a solution cus I'm tired asl of it. it's so strange because when I was younger this used to be an everyday thing, but as I got older it slowly stopped.
It doesn't matter if you're early or late. What matters is that you're here.
Thank you for sharing this kind message and hope good things go your way Matthew.

Yo they on to us😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@The Emo Trans Bimbo or maybe they research for this info.
Maybe they're psychologists themselves and want to spread some known info to the public.
They're definitely not psychic, they aren't fortunetellers.
@The Emo Trans Bimbo well it's hard to detect sarcasm from people on the internet because tone doesn't really exist so you could have at the very least put /s at the end or edit it so it "LoOks LikE ThIS."
also, it's woooosh. with four o's. you could have simply said that instead of going on a tangent :) 👌

What's the first thing or person you think off when you wake up? That could be a cause.

I gotta go to the bathroom. Then run the day in no hurry. Nap, and rise feeling fairly confident about how to get more done.

Very greatful
I have found though that there are formal meditation retreats of varying capacities that are also low cost or free if you can't afford but you may need to have undertaken safe or clinical detox before committing to a retreat of any nature that's not drug / alcohol addiction informed and treatment resourced if you are really unwell. Just my experience, but also have seen this in others who have pursued recovery from drug and alcohol addiction if that's the sort of rehabilitation you are speaking of. Namaste 🙏
Early to bed, early to rise, makes a person healthy, wealthy & wise. Thanks.
I’m healthy, wealthy and wise and am rarely early to bed or to rise :)
“What else could be waking you up at 3am?”
My German Shepherd barking at the raccoons outside my window.🤦🏻♀️
Maybe you should let him in 😊🐕
@@maretabester9784 My dog has never slept outside in his life-He sleeps on my bed😊
Same here in Scotland with my two shepherds, but it’s cats 🐈😂
The painful urge to go to the bathroom wakes me up at around 3am every night. No matter if I don't take a drink of anything for at least a couple of hours before bed or even using the restroom any trying to squeeze out every last drop. For some reason I release at lease a cup of water at 3am. It's been going on since my dough pregnancy, 11 years ago 😐
I know what u mean I quit liquids around 5 pm but I gits to Lee ar 4:30 anyway carp oh carp what to do
that's pee crap oh crap
Thyroid problems can also cause disturbed sleeping pattern. Do consider getting yourself tested.
Can we all just appreciate how much effort and time is put into making all these videos?
Lots of love xx
It's just one video with all the two-hour time ranges of waking up changed. The the algorithms send you the video applicable to the time you checked your feed last night. Weerry twicky!
And hardly any research done with actual insomniacs? She’s reading from a textbook 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yup
Two things have helped me recently. One, stop doing the thing I used to do early in the morning. This way, if I happen to get up at 3, I can tell myself it's ok to go back to sleep even if I miss my normal waking time (I don't use an alarm so I suppose if I did, I'd ditch that useless device). And second, I've started to read at bed time. This replaces video viewing that seems to have the same sleep value as taking a shot of whiskey - it works in the short term but it wears off while you're asleep.
Yep!
Thank you
As she said 🥃 doesn’t help erbody 😴 unless ur an alcoholic maybe 🤔
For me it's anxiety that causes me to wake up. Especially if I have school and/or I have to drive the next morning
Now that you have told me why I wake up between 3 & 5am, maybe you could let me know why I wake up between 12 & 1am, 2 & 3am, 3 & 4am etc, etc, etc.
I have been diagnosed with a reversed circadian clock that has prevented me from sleeping at night for most of my life.
😦
@Clarissa I don't work but when I was a teen I averaged about 3 hours sleep weekdays and a couple more on weekends.
Now I get 4 to 7 broken up during the day depending on the noisy neighbors & construction.
My problems are that it takes me at least an hour after laying down to actually fall asleep.
I am always thirsty and often drink a couple drinks within an hour before bed. (Milk and soda)
If I wake up at 3 am I am out of luck because I have to get up at 5am to get ready for work and with the hour it takes me to fall asleep I usually can't before get up time.
Too much stress messes up my sleep too. I work full time and am doing online college of 18 units per semester. Just too much stress for me.
You can't wake up between 3-5 am if that's the time you go to sleep 😌
Blessed 🙏
Laughs at 1 hour looking for the best position to sleep
how is that blessed 😂
I do none of these and still wake up. I had a night shift life most of my life and my circadian rhythm is ruined. At times i can sleep nights but if i get upset or severe weather is coming ,forget it. Sometimes i have had too much decaf tea and have to get up . Its one thing or another. Also depression, loneliness, anxiety and stress can cause it.
people with chronic pain: sure... staring at the ceiling with nothing but the pain to think about for the next four hours is the way to go. Yeah, thanks.
The left knee that says "this position is great" until 2 hours later: "Nope. Get up, walk around, try another position".
YES! The chronic pain is a sleep preventer for sure. Go to sleep exhausted, get up at 2 or 3ish, stub my damn toe getting out of bed just to stretch out and walk off the pain. Get back in bed and the dog took my spot! I give up!
This video was basically a description of my life.
We hope this video helps. How many reasons did you relate to?
@@Psych2go All of them.
2nd point be like:
"I, Kira Yoshikage, will sleep well tonight"
This video literally explained my problems about why I tend to wake up at 3AM all of a sudden. Thank you Psych2Go! :D
There is a theory that when you wake up in the night there 80% luck that because something was staring :)
The speaker’s voice is so soothing, that made me sleep.🥺
I am active both physically and mentally ! I have always been , even at an early age . My mind was trained in military school and it structured me !
I have always been creative, it’s in my DNA ! I have always looked at what I could do to improve my life and that of others !
Anybody can do , it if you care about yourself ! Nobody is going to look after #1 but you !
Sleep is important , if we can get our mind off our state of affairs , it’s damn hard ! 😡
This has been happening to me for the past week and had no idea why- Thank you so much!
Eat yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, bowl of cereal (with milk), ice cream, or peanut butter before you go to sleep. Cravings for "sugar" may actually be craving protein. Eat too much sugar in the evening can make you stay awake longer and waking up sooner.
Ice cream and (sweetened) cereals contain too much sugar and I would avoid them, especially before sleep. Other than that this is a great suggestion.
Some cheeses and chocolate will also cause weird or bad dreams too...I think just adding dessert after dinner would be best. Eating before bed isn't the best idea.
If only my mother knew english, I would send this to her
Welp, time to translate in my language
Which language does your mom speak? We can see if anyone can translate it.
@@Psych2go she speaks spanish and good amount of italian, but don't worry, I can just tell her by talking
However thanks for the concern, I didn't expect my comment would make you try to help with the barrier language 😅
For me its because I have to go to the bathroom around 3am, and usually its difficult for me to get back to sleep. If it weren't for that...
I miss all those years when I was a child when every night sleep is a good quality night sleep.
Psych2Go: Can you recall a period of time where you slept well every single night?
Me: No.
I used to be the "wake up person" at a boarding school. (I had to go around and ring a little bell till they woke up) Never slept that year, cause I was scared my alarm wouldn't wake me up because it happened to me one time and it was horrible. I'm still recovering
I literally had to search this up at 4 AM in the damn morning
It’s my dog. She is old and needs to go out. Now I’m here at 3:40 wide awake
Every night
wow if this video isnt great timing im not sure what is, i havent been sleeping much the past few days :(
thanks for always making high quality videos for everyone, we appreciate you!
I wake up between 3-5 AM but go to bed around 7:30-8:30 PM
I was told it’s the best time to talk to God, It works for me 🤗🙌🏾🙌🏾
😊😅😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
True. If I wake up, I just pray and I try not to touch my phone. I fall asleep after that, usually
Any chance you could do a video on some more complex sleep patterns?
I sleep for 3 hour slots, waking up around the 3 hour mark every single time, I'd love to understand why.
This may sound weird but I like listening to a lullaby or a soothing song before I go to bed every night
Same👍🏼⭐
Mine are weird too. I listen to organ or asmr
I put on sounds of the ocean now and 😴😴😴
Dread. That sums it up for me. Knowing that the day that awaits me will rob me of my energy, and my time to do the things that I want to do but don’t have the time or energy to do after my work day.
