For groove react to"Who is going to the One" (OLMV) for switching react to "Teacher, Teacher" (OMV). Any song you pick from Jinjer will be good.

This is one of my absolute favorites by them 🖤 This is what Tatiana said about the meaning behind this song. “There's a theory in quantum physics: space is folded in many layers and that's how parallel universe is created. Somewhere else out there are the exact persons like us. So I am searching for my soulmate in another dimension, waiting for him to give me a sign (by waving his hand). I wrote the lyrics for the "Astronomy" when I was 28. And that's how long I've been feeling lonesome. 28 light-years... So my research just has to be finished very soon.”
If you want harder I suggest Sit, Stay, Rollover or Mediator. If you want something with more melodic parts I would say Wallflower or Vortex. Can’t go wrong regardless!

I've seen/heard this song hundreds of times, and the switch to the double bass/clean vocals never fails to give me goosebumps, and the climax at the end always makes my eyes water.
I love all of Jinjer's songs, especially the new stuff ..... But I keep coming back to astronomy as my favorite.

This drummer IS something else and his talent should not be ignored. That said, I think you thought this was Vlad (their current drummer)? This is the drummer prior to Vlad. His name is Dmitry.

From what i gather, the meaning of this is her call to the universe for a soulmate. Great song. The drummer on this is Dimitriy kim. He was a fill in drummer after their old drummer suffered an injury that prevented him from playing. Dimitriy just couldn't commit to jinjer's crazy touring dates long term, so he played with them till they found Vlad (current drummer), but I believe he is still involved with the band engineering wise. They have had 3 very talented drummers!

@@ianlauerastroreacts3495 One of the few love songs Tati has written, possibly the only depending on one'sdefinition. They've always attracted great talent. Dmitry Kim is now doing a series of female-fronted covers of classic rock and hard rock songs by Sershen & Zaritskaya, and did a funny "drunk drummer" playthrough of I think Thunderstruck by AC/DC with a bottle Jaeger taped to his kit with them. Back In Black has 15M views. Barracuda is epic too.

Jinjer is absolutely killin' it these days - I really haven't been this excited about a band like this since Pantera back in the early 90's. Saw them in Boston a week ago, already waiting for them to come back...
With that said - another band that impresses me with their raw energy and appeal is Slaughter to Prevail. Watch their video for the song Agony - very cool, very different, very adrenaline.

probably my favorite jinjer song... such variety.
and the belts at the end capturing, wailing, the despair of lengthy interstellar distances! or even trying to reach parallel universes... (that can be metaphors for other things, but im glad she doesnt explicitly mention love)

That count of 6 instead of the expected 4 of utter silence before they rip your face off with the climax, Tatiana hitting those E5s with a little grit like it ain't nuthin.... is top-tier *awesome* imho. :)
Crazy to think they've developed further since this. You wouldn't think on this evidence that a different drummer could improve things.... but in comes Vlad, the drummer who's a classically trained pianist to trade, who in his previous band swapped from (self-taught) guitar to (self-taught) drums because he felt that'd be easier than trying to convey his ideas for more interesting drumming parts to a new drummer!! o_O #AnnoyinglyTalented LOL
The depth of musicality in what Vlad does (he still has the technical chops) resulted in a tight bond forming with Eugene the (also excellent) bassist. If you listen thru the "Micro" EP, "Macro" album, & the new "Wallflowers" album, which were all created following Vlad's joining, I feel they are now much more *musical* than the earlier work. I also reckon Vlad's classical sensibilities show themselves thru the "Wallflowers" album, given that he composed ~80% of the music you hear on there. Very little in the way of standard verse-chorus-verse-bridge/breakdown-chorus formulae in evidence, & much more manipulation of 2 or 3 core "motifs" to create "movements" in each song, in a similar manner to that which you hear in classical compositions. Arguably a much more organic flow than building songs to a formula.... & I'm *so* here for it. :)

    • @neilpatrickhairless
      @neilpatrickhairless 2 года назад +2

The way you explain the song structure after Vlad joining is absolutely on point. People have no idea how insane their compositions and arrangements really are. Keep waiting to see a concert pianist cover a few Jinjer songs, I think people would be shocked to hear it in a single instrument format and what is really going on musically with this stuff... Its insane

Tatiana's search for a soulmate. When a relationship starts, "let this binary be blessed", paralleling her hope that this "other star" that's entered, as it were, a shared gravitational attraction and mutual orbit of each other. For writing in a third language she's one of the most compelling lyricists out there.

I love everything about this song. Check out their new release (just today) Disclosure for another hard and heavy one. :)
p.s. about that one line, the "dark matter is so divine" line is probably a reference to feeling a lot of inner darkness and the need to share it with a partner, having said in an interview that anyone she's tried to share it with has used it against her. space foam, maybe quantum foam? or the massive structures shaped by gravity and huge cosmic explosions, or coolwhip maybe... ;)
a line from Outlander comes to mind "I don't belong to this race, or to this planet, or to this galaxy."

It's basically a love song where after 28 long years she's found her soulmate but he's in a parallel universe and she's asking him to reach out to her, hence the other solar system above her at the end. That's where he resides as she raises her hand up to it hoping he'll do the same.

As far as I know this is her shout out to the universe in search of her soul mate. She chooses the most powerful language possible, the language of the stars to do that. And at the same time crushing all the stupid men who don`t understand her or fear her as a person because she looks and sings like a badass... 🤣
