I own multiple models of both because I can't decide what I like better lol. Have the p30 and p30L with the LEM trigger, a vp9 with an RMR and a vp9sk. HK makes excellent firearms!
I just got my first HK product yesterday (P30). Watching all the reviews on it while I wait on my FFL to get it delivered. My initial thoughts while I was in the store (shout out to Buds) was how well it felt in hand, and how it can be an all around gun. It can be for HD, range, CCW, very versatile. It’s essentially the same size as my G23, which is same as the G19. Cant wait to take her to the range.
@@GoldenWebb she shoots nice imo. Most will bash the trigger and say it needs to be upgraded, which at first I disagreed. But this past weekend, I wanted to compare it to my full size XDM Elite. The Springfield’s trigger is much better (virtually no take up, short reset, flat trigger). Overall though I can shoot the P30 just fine. I’ve even had compliments on my groupings at the range. I got it from the Buds in Lexington, about a 90min drive.
I actually Traded the VP9 for the P30 V3 both great pistols but I ended up getting rid of the P30 because of the decocker location combined with the large slide stop which was annoying In retrospect I would gotten the LEM version Or a P30L or should have kept the VP9 with all the aftermarket support that came out but at the time it was brand new and many of the accessories like the 20rd factory mags were not a thing .. but I will never again sell HK LOL i learned my lesson ( love my USP9 compact ) .
Yeah, I have owned a few HK firearms in the past....and sold them. The clunky sound while racking them always sounded cheap to me. Which is funny, because I know how well built they are. I am just a little nitpicky sometimes. I am coming around though. My wife just bought me a Mark 23 for valentines day, and now I want more HK.
Hi Bud, I have the USP 45 Tactical got it in 2002 love it ! I was going to buy a 9mm USP tactical but now I'm thinking a 9mm p30 ( I like the hammer old school ) nice review!
I have just bought the P30 LEM which does not have the safety, a bobbed hammer and is closer to the striker fired pistols. I have both the VP9 and P30 LEM and both are extremely fine firearms overall. The grip on the VP9 is outstanding for me as well as the grip on the P30 LEM. The grips are different in their own ways but both equally fine. Can’t say enough about either but it is an HK. 😁👍
Shot the vp9 this weekend I like the weight and the grip. But I also grew up with glocks so there’s def and adjustment period bc your strong hand doesn’t get high on the beaver tail
I’ve owned a P30 for a few years and picked up a vp 9 recently. Both feel great in the hand but I’m still partial to the P30. That may be just due to the fact I’ve had it longer. Great accurate review though
@@GoldenWebb I just installed the short trigger reset, flat trigger and the John Wick compensator. It’s awesome for a hammer fired pistol. I got a deal and picked up the Vp9 match. Which I’m still customizing. I use the vp9 to shoot in competition and p30l for fun.
I’ll probably go with vp9. P30 is cool but when I’m needing to use for self defense for any situation I’d rather not be fidgeting with a safety lever. I’d rather just draw and pull
They make it without the safety. They make multiple versions of the P30. And NO i do not just mean the sk, standard, and L. They offer standard trigger, lem trigger, full, or bobbed hammer, and safety deletes. And the safety is in fact removable.
They are just two different triggers. I train with Glocks. The VP9 is striker fired, and actually is a better trigger then Glock. That being said, I believe it’s just because I’m more used to that type of trigger. 99.99% of guns manufactured are more accurate then the shooter can be.
I would be willing to bet that's the shooter. Coming from SA/DA guns you might do better with a p30 out of the box, coming from glocks you might be better with the vp9...or just better with the vp9 flat out because it is a great trigger and the p30 really isn't. The p30 trigger is a throw back to the 1990s USP and Berettas. They're fine da/sa guns but striker triggers have come a long way faster without needed to send them off to some polishing guru
@@GoldenWebb I have a Glock 22 gen 5 the trigger is supposed to be better than older generations but the vp9 still has the better trigger great review brother👍.
My autistic brother and my Down syndrome cousin both think the Vp9 is better than the P30 L. Of course, their opinions are irrelevant. John Wick is love, John Wick is life.
After have owned both, the vp9 is 100 percent better. The p30 trigger pull is very long. You definitely cannot shoot anywhere near as fast without heavy mods to the p30
Adding the grey guns' short reset and flat trigger to the hk p30 turned it into a great cocked and locked gun
That’s interesting, might have to check that out! Thank you for viewing my friend!

I love my p30 been my main Carry for 8yrs ! Great review

I own both the HK p30 and the HK vp9, I like the p30 for iwb carry, & the vp9 for owb. . excellent review Sir

I really like the both of them, and they are both well made and function flawlessly. Thanks and Blessings!

P30L is better.
@@JoseMora-wc5zz right on! I have it in 40.
I love them both, but if I could only choose 1 it would be the P30 👍👍
When considering the base model VP9, I believe i would pick the P30 as well
@@GoldenWebb so why is that?

It’s the size of a Glock 45 not a G19/23

VP9 for me. The P30’s trigger sucks
