    I recreated this on my server with a few modifications. This was my first serious build ever. Big fan of the series and your work with 7dtd. thank you for this tutorial. I actually built it without the admin tools and boy was that difficult and time consuming. It took me 6 days in game to build it and get it somewhat ready with a few traps lol.

    This is a beautiful base, man. I really didn't like the wires being everywhere up to now and always wished for them to be hidden, but then again, doing stuff like you did to hide them does add an extra something to the game. One can mostly hide wires if they really try. In any case, I always love how you make these special rooms for all of the generators and control rooms and such.

    Hey Tem, at 26:50 any part of a structure that sticks out past it's support is called a cantilever or as a verb, "cantilevered."
    Brutalist construction utilizes cantilevers that give it that physical dynamic look (you taught me about that 😜👍)

    32:22 - I'd like to express just how incredibly helpful this particular tip is. Since A20 first came out, I've put over 1400 hours into 7DTD (~500 of that in Darkness Falls). I've always had issues with getting zombies to path onto stairs for horde bases. This solution is so simple and yet so darn effective. I just used it on my day 63 BM (64 max zombies) with great success. Thank you!

    This here , base building breakdown amazing . A series focusing on the build 0-7 days then upgrades for days 7-14 etc , could even use old footage and voice over to break it down for the purposes for the tutorial if no suitable old footage available might be something to keep in mind , as would cut down on production time if you could make multiple series from the same footage ?

    Hi Tem, on the height of the base, you were saying it can be 4 or 5 through to 20 or so. One thing that I recently figured out recently - video title is "No more rage mode - come learn how! (7 Days to Die: Alpha 20)" if you're interested ☺ - was that having your fighting position 11 blocks (or more) up from the ground level that the horde fall down to will drastically minimise the rage mode you experience - that would be one small tip to an awesome build that you could include in future to make it even more secure! This is a sexy, sexy build though🤤 - and sorry for the unsolicited advice 🥞

    To fix that weird pathing at the the beginning of the horde, I've found that if I stand a bit away from my base (say like 20 blocks) at 2200 when the horde triggers, wait until I see some spawns and then run up into my base, they just follow me up instead of getting confused and bashing on stuff. I can't remember where I saw it (Games4kickz?) but I remember several videos of people doing it in earlier alphas around A14-16

I usually repurpose existing poi's just cause it's a base template to work with. Also it's more realistic/immersive to me. I don't think in the zombie apocalypse I (with no construction experience) am going to be able to build a castle in the middle of a field lol.

    Call the blocks that shield other blocks, . On submarines the put a metals at certain locations that will corrode so that the main hull will not corrode. It extends the lifetime of the main hull by drastically slowing down the corrosion. In drydock they just need to polish up the hull and replace the sacrificial nodes. Quick, cheaper, and forget it.

    Actually there is a correction to around 32:30 he said you lose stability when the 3 blocks next to his fighting position get knocked out. That is actually not the case. When you use a door it doesnt actually have a connection point on the top. He connected his door to the middle orientated walkway so their isnt a physical connection to the ramp section. If you took out the 3 blocks he said all the blocks up to and including the door would fall and the entire ramp would stay. The only way the ramp would fall is breaking the blocks giving it stability. Not sure if that is actually information that would help anyone but thats that. To make it easier to think about if the door was in a normal position the connection point is the bottom or the floor side. No connection to the top ceiling side. Hopefully that makes sense. Also Im only talking about using a door in this way. I think it has connection point along the hinge side like a real door would but didnt mention it because the door isnt used as a door in this scenario.

    Has anyone tried making horde bases utilizing the head bug? I've been making a box thats 3 block thick except for one side which is one block thick. Then I make a "funnel" towards the weaker side. The inside has a 3x3x1 sized space, small enough for you to head glitch but enough room for you to walk around. then you can put a blade trap on the main "weak" wall, which you can repair from the inside of your little hole, you can repair the walls as well from inside. The entrance is a hatch/ladder leading inside, located on top which can be accessed by a ladder thats on the outside that starts on the 3rd tall block so the Zeds dont try and use it. I've been adding electric fences surrounding the base as well, but have been getting the "Nullexception" error whenever a Zed gets shocked so I took them out, but if you don't get that error they're an amazing addition. if anyone's curious I can explain/show more. I haven't tested it on anything past like day 70 so Im not sure if it works well on high gamestage hordes.
    Edit: a little addition, its nice because it doesn't initiate the zombies "seeing" you, so cops wont spit at you, and demons wont shoot fireballs.

  • @midnightnarcosis

    The base I designed, doesn't even require me to have fences. I barley have to repair anything. Save for the 4 blade traps when needed. And I have 4 Shotgun and 4 9mm turrets mainly used. So all I have to to is run around and refill turrets when needed. Hardly need to repair walls at all. I'm clocked at lvl 300. And I game level is over 700 I believe? Haven't checked it in a while.

      To prevent very soft weapons from breaking very tough materials. The simplest would be to use a flat armor system that can completely nullify the damage.

  • @W1se0ldg33zer
    @W1se0ldg33zer Год назад +1

    It would work better if you were lower and it had shorter pathways. Less of them will swipe at your blocks because it's easier to get to where you're standing. Just have one pathway up. Have it so your fighting spot sticks out from the rest of your base. You're the bait so the idea is to make yourself easy to reach.
    Also you only need one set of electric fence going vertical with the output wire going to the bottom one and the next post mounted above you. That way it's the only post you'll need to be watching for repairs and you just have to look up from where you are to get to it. You have to keep the path clear of zombies by killing them fast so they don't start beating on blocks. You don't get hardly any damage on a base if you do it just right.

    • @W1se0ldg33zer
      @W1se0ldg33zer Год назад

      Another way which would help stop losing blocks on it is to just use exploding crossbow bolt - I use up about 100-125. That way you're killing bunches of them at once and keeping the path clear so they don't get blocked out by other zombies. If they can't get up your path they go for blocks.

    • @W1se0ldg33zer
      @W1se0ldg33zer Год назад

    • @W1se0ldg33zer
      @W1se0ldg33zer Год назад

      @@blammer You have your pathway right in front of where you're going to be and you dig down 3 or 4 blocks underneath it. Out about 4 or 5 blocks. And you dig a 1x1 hole next to that and put a vault hatch over it so you can get to it. Then you attach your lead in wire from your generator to that one which never takes damage from use and you put the other one horizontally directly above your fighting spot. Cover that one up from the bottom with a hatch so you can get to it when it wears down too much. Surround it with plate blocks on the outside so cop puke don't hit it and set a blade trap over that to kill birds. I have my path 3x6 and I sit up two blocks above a gap. The ramp isn't attached to my base and I have a one block gap I'm sitting above. The wire is just to keep them from trying to jump up to hit me if I don't kill them by that time. If they get loose from the wire they run off the end of the ramp, turn around and head back to the pathway - because it's short and low to the ground they don't spend any time beating on the wall below me unless I don't keep the path clear enough. They'll just run around in circles without any wire but if you stick out enough over the ledge then they try to hit you.

    I would be more convinced this work in Darkness Falls if there was footage of it working. Somehow I don't think blade traps are going to stop Succubi or even slow them down..

    thin blocks are cheesy and make horde base designs too easy and slack, they should, like they used to, have lower hitpoints and structal strength.

  • @lazyman7505
    @lazyman7505 Год назад +2

    Strongest? Well ... Awesome? For sure!
    There are few problems with this base, as seen both in your DF playthrough and this video.
    Just from top of my head:
    - stairs out of pits are too narrow
    - ramps are missing sideway access
    - dart traps are underutilized
    - walkways to the fighting positions are too short (no place for blade traps)
    - (and no blade trap side/top access for repairs)
    - no extra padding on the walls of the pit
    - no 'filters' to slow/spread the zombies
    - cops have direct line of sight to each fighting position from far away
    - demos have to be killed manually (prone to errors)

    Maybe second best, Tem. I have a build that doesn't need fallbacks or traps at all, and has never failed. I don't play with mods, but someone has tested it in DF and did not have any trouble. It's not a cheese base either. (not saying yours is) Maybe I'll make a video of it, so you can check it out.

    Been watching this channel for a while since I got back into 7dtd, I haven't played since like alpha 15, came back at 20 lot has changed, I noticed you compare yourself to Glock9 way too much, I found Glock originally first but after finding your channel, your content is different and enjoyable IMO, Less swearing, more informative, less cheese (with exception of your "base designs" I just personally enjoy dying more then cheesing mechanics of the game but the point of this was to stop comparing yourself to a bigger RUclipsr, even Pewdiepie was passed by Mr beast in sub count
    edit: not shot at glock9 his content just isn't for me, I watched him first before finding this channel & Prebuilt's (who I now watch because of GNS) I did enjoy his content till I found these different alternatives

    It's ok... the fortress is a lot of cheese after the horde and the construction requires a lot of resources. My humble opinion on the rating is 6/10
