  • Roger Hodgson, co-founder of Supertramp, is the singer/songwriter of this most beautiful treasure, A Soapbox Opera, which is from the album, Crisis? What Crisis? Seeing Roger perform with an orchestra is mesmerizing. This performance is from a July 2013 concert in Germany with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra at Jazzopen Schlossplatz. Roger also gave us the eternal classics such as Dreamer, Give a Little Bit, Take the Long Way Home, The Logical Song, Fool's Overture, Hide in Your Shell, It's Raining Again and many more.
    Although Roger and Supertramp's other co-founder shared writing credit, they actually wrote and composed separately with each singing their own songs. Roger is the Voice you have been listening to on almost all the classic hit songs that were recorded by Supertramp - the Voice people all over the world love.
    Roger is touring worldwide and audiences are once again experiencing the magic and spirit that Roger Hodgson created with Supertramp. In addition to performing the classics listed above plus many others, he also performs magnificent material from his solo albums. Seeing Roger live in concert is an experience that will stay with you a lifetime. www.RogerHodgson.com / rogerhodgson .
    Read what the press has to say about Roger's "Breakfast in America" World Tour -
    "The power of the music was indisputable with many of the audience in tears of joy at the memories and emotions the songs evoked. It was like seeing Supertramp back in their heyday." Evening Herald
    "Roger's voice is even better than it was when he was with Supertramp. My friends and I were blown away by the sheer talent Roger has. I would highly recommend anyone to go see Roger live if they can." Daniel Knighton, Examiner
    Share your experience of Roger's shows or what his songs mean to you. Roger enjoys hearing from you! Enjoy some messages Roger has received from fans all over the world ~
    "My first album played on my car stereo when I turned 17, my first love, my wedding, my first child's birth, thank you for the gift of your music and the wonderful memories I still get when I hear it or play it. Your music is food for my ears, your music is poetry that speaks to us individually."
    "His music flows straight from his heart and soul into my heart and soul -- no detours, no boundaries. Roger's music is the music of my life."

      I feel like Supertramp is the only band that has this level of emotion inside of it. The singing, the tones, the story. Its unfortunate that they’ve deformed in the 80s.

    Lyrics:
    I hear, only what I want to hear,
    But, I have to believe in something,
    Have to believe in just one thing.
    I said father Washington, you're all mixed up,
    Collecting sinners in an old tin cup.
    Well, spare a listen for a restless fool,
    There's something missing when I need your rule.
    Well, hey there;
    You tell me you're a holy man, but, although I am just a beginner,
    I don't see you as a winner.
    I said, sister Washington, you're all washed up,
    Collecting teardrops in a paper cup;
    If I could tell you what you need to know;
    If I could tell you to get on with the show.
    I'd rather never leave her,
    There's a storm in my head,
    Makes me hear what you say;
    Just was it true?
    So, what have I to do?
    Well, what has he to do?-
    Ooh, what is there to-oo do+
    What oh-oh-ohoh
    "All creatures great and small,
    All things wise and wonderful, the lord god made them all"
    Mary, oh tell me what I'm living for,
    Cause I feel like I'm tossed in the river,
    Oh' have you a son to deliver.
    I said, father Washington, you're all mixed up,
    Collecting sinners in an old tin cup,
    You tell the children what you need to know,
    But, will they listen when it's time to go.
    Oh, sister Robinson, you're all washed up,
    Collecting teardrops in a paper cup,
    Can someone tell me what I need to know,
    Can someone help me to get on with the show

      How? Okay, let me try. I can remember originally why it was that I liked this song. With Supertramp, Roger had a hard edge to his songs. After leaving the group, he has become a too sweet over the top bag of processed sugar.

    • @suasleat
      @suasleat Год назад

      @@WilliamJones-sf5pt Lol. I have to agree with you re: Roger post-Tramp. But the song itself, and specifically this orchestral arrangement, is fricking excellent.

      Anoche fue el gran día de ver a Roger Hodgson y su banda en persona, en un marco incomparable, la plaza de toros de Úbeda, Jaén, España. Le vitoreamos, cuando acabaron les hicimos volver al escenario, y nos regalaron varias canciones más. Él nos hacía cantar a todos, y coreamos sus canciones. Todo un caballero. Felicidad de verle en persona. Emocionado. Gracias.
      Ah, el telonero: un violinista con violín electrónico, todo un acierto, excepcional.
