    Do you enjoy fishing in the rain? If so, is it from the bank, a boat, or a kayak? What’s your experience been with rain having an effect on the bite?

      I have had some of my best fishing experiences in the rain and from the bank! In my opinion, the bite is effected in a positive way!

      @pistolcreek  Год назад +2

      That’s awesome! I really believe it does kick start the bite. Panfishing from the bank is so much fun.

      I’ve always tried to fish right before a storm or right after but I’ve fished through the rain and I think when the rain drops start hitting the water it causes the fish to be more enticed to feed or maybe it’s just causes them to be more aware of their surroundings thinking it’s bugs hitting the water. I’m sure the pressure has something to do with it and water run off washing insects in the water along the banks could be a trigger as well, but I may be reaching at this point🤣

    I agree they are biting in the rain. Honestly I like to tuck under the bridge and cast away. You certainly had the lake to yourself which is a fantastic benefit. Beautiful guy at 6:00. Tank at 7:11. You got some beauties in the rain. The skipjack was cool. A few Pike would be fun in that lake. My conclusion is crappy weather can be conducive to catching awesome Crappies 😎💥🎣

    Every time I would fish for trout after the rain or even a light rainfall the bite was on it would make perfectly sense why every other fish would react in a dizzy!!! Tight lines take care and God bless!

      Thank you so much! I once watched a video of Crappie Fishing Legend, Charlie Brewer, where he shared his technique for setting the hook on crappie. Look it up here on RUclips if you get a chance. It’s fascinating. He explains how a hard hook set like you might use for bass and large hooks… isn’t needed for crappie and all you have to do is “sweep” them up out of the water. It really is an effective way to land them. Plus… the Trout Magnet jig head hooks are RAZOR sharp…so even the slightest resistance and the hook practically sets itself. Thank you for watching and go check Mr. Brewer’s stuff out sometime. He’s the man who invented the “ Crappie Slider” soft plastics.

    i remember fishing a lake many many years ago with a buddy and we were there for several hours without a hit. A a storm came and was raining really hard, rain you should probably get off the water hard. Well, it went from nothing to non stop during that rain. We were getting hit every cast. Rain stopped and so did the bite. It was really weird how it went down. The lake was a 330 acre lake but average of 5' deep with lots of weeds. Ok....I'm watching the rest of the video now😆

    Is that little kayak more stable than the sit on top models?Enjoy your videos keep them coming

    • @pistolcreek
      @pistolcreek  Год назад +2

      For me, I felt like it was more stable than the other sit-on top kayak that I tested. Now, mind you, some of the more expensive sit on tops are very nice.. but can cost 10 times what this one did. This one is super stable, but please don’t go off of just my opinion here. If you are looking into purchasing a kayak, of course it’d be good to watch several reviews from different sources here on RUclips before deciding what to spend your dollars on. In my own experience, the Charger 100 has been a good little kayak. Thank you for watching and for your support!

    Where do you find crappie this time of year? Do you think jigging with a bobber or slow retrieving is more effective?

    • @pistolcreek
      @pistolcreek  Год назад +1

      Now…I’m not the best person to ask😄 But here where I live, you can usually find them up close to the bank in anywhere from 4-12 feet of water. They also seem to school up on laydowns and brush piles…or around docks. It’s a good time to catch them from the bank if you access to a spot where they are holding. I am a cast and retrieve guy, myself, but see so many folks wear them out with a float. Float fishing them is also great from the bank, because you can hold your bait in the strike zone longer. Try casting up close to a tree, and let it sit for a few seconds as you slowly work it back shallow. Go check out my pals at Arrigo Outdoor Adventures and The Next Cast to see more float fishing examples. Both Mike and Jim wear them out under a slip float sometimes. Thank you for watching!

      @@pistolcreek Thanks for the reply. I'm in your general area so I figured you would be best to ask. Crappie have always eluded me for some reason lol.

    • @pistolcreek
      @pistolcreek  Год назад +2

      @eh1918 It helps a lot if you are able to find spots that are holding Shad. Crappie will usually be there if you see Shad in the water. Right now, while the water is low for winter pool, check any spot that has a tree sticking out of the water or a big tree leaning into the water from the bank. Keep checking those spots and bridges/piers and you will find them. It also helps to try in the first 2 hours after sunrise and before sunset.

      Yessir! I caught a few fish using the Fin Spin… until I lost them in the brush piles. I fish the Fin Spin and Road Runners pretty often. Both do very well for crappie. Especially if you add the attractant pellets to your hook, or use the new Eye Hole Fin Spins. Thank you for watching!
