    Jeff Glover is one of the original superstars of BJJ competition. This is an excerpt from his new series CLEAN SWEEPS FOR NO GI available from BJJFanatics.com.
    BJJ Fanatics was started by a pair of black belts (Bernardo Faria & Michael Zenga) who feel that nothing is more important than improving your BJJ skills as much as possible in the least amount of time. Their aim was to create a shop for BJJ Students who don’t look at BJJ as a sport - but as a lifestyle.

    Shout out to jack slack for educating me on what a sucker drag is yesterday

    Usually don't like claiming certain arts own certain moves, but this is absolutely not a BJJ technique. This is the worst example of a sucker drag instructional I've ever seen by a country mile. Learn this from a wrestler (folkstyle, freestyle, greco, doesn't matter). Hundreds of sucker drag videos have been uploaded to RUclips and they're all better. So much missing/wrong here. Jeff Glover is a great grappler but the appeal to authority argument doesn't negate how poor this is.

    It's hard to believe a guy that good at grappling is so bad at explaining this drag. A whistle sound and the guy pops off the control that easily? Terrible explanation.

    Honestly not a good example of this technique, there are finer details to it, if u wanna learn to do it properly watch top wrestlers demonstrating it

      I mean isnt that the way you peek your head out of guillotines? so it could work maybe?

      and you're not just peeking your head out you are turning the corner and using your shoulders to help you like when you are in a back body lock and the guy goes to wrap your neck, you just use your shoulders and go no neck and use that kind of shoulder shrug. I don't see why it wouldn't work really. It might not get to your opponent's back but with enough drilling I feel it's doable.

      Your head turns towards the open part of the hold, and grabbing there arm prevents any adjustment to keep your head trapped.
      This is a common wrestling move - you can look up competition footage of you don't believe it works.

  • @carltonbanks1254
    @carltonbanks1254 3 года назад

    why is the move so conditional?
    So you can talk and explain it or do they really need to really be squared up with no weight on u like that

    • @WhtMike2006

      The only main condition is that they have any kind of front head grip or attack and aren’t incredibly disciplined with their elbow position. Sucker drags are an awesome technique. Even a front headlock ninja like Charles Oliveira gets sucker dragged sometimes in the UFC
