That performance is yet another example of the vocal versatility of Dionne Warwick in performing a song that is not in her best known genre, but making it part of her musical repertoire and displaying much showmanship. That is what helped make "Solid Gold" such a special show. The behind-the-scenes people did their part as well and it was always nice when their young musical director, Michael Miller, would step from behind-the-scenes to in front of the scenes, such as in this performance and the 1984 Marilyn McCoo "The Longest
Time" performance and many others as well. That is entertainment.
Work it Dammit Dionne❤
Did Dionne have a say in what songs she sang each week, Michael?
Yes, most definitely. Each week, Dionne and I would have a conversation about the latest hits and what resonated with her vocally and lyrically.
Micheal,, thanks for posting this..I remember when it originally aired in '86. I was a senior high school!!
+mbotman Glad you enjoyed it....then & now!
When I listen to this song, I feel like I’m enjoying the past.
Were you playing both the keyboards and trumpet on this song Michael
Yup, just like the video shows.
@@bigeyezzzzzzz I thought so but I wasn’t sure
How difficult was it to play multiple instruments during a performance
Her voice and style isn’t suitable to the song. I never thought much of her singing anyway. Her songs are hits because they are good songs that are well produced, not because of her singing.
