- The final series of Blake's 7 began airing on prime-time BBC1 on 28th September 1981.
This Prothetheus-style trailer features a remix of Gang of Youths' cover of David Bowie's 'Heroes'. It's not spoilery, only if you've already seen the first three series.
Another RUclips channel is stealing RUclips fan videos and is touting them as their own work - @lego4281 .

Me. I have been watching since the early 80’s.
Saw series 3 and 4 at the time when first broadcast in early 80s. Watching it now on Forces TV. You're right, never gets old but makes me feel old though lol.
Oh in my case it will be Blake's Seven until I die. I am passionate about Blake's 7, that and Doctor Who during Tom Baker's tenure as the Doctor.

Paul Darrow absolutely nailed it as Avon, my favourite part of this amazing series.

Absolutely brilliant. I think you have to be of a certain age to appreciate this. I still remember running around at playtime at school arguing who was going to be Blake or Avon. Of course we all know Avon was the coolest 😊
Definitely a show in absolute need of a revival / reboot series. It’s an extremely British take on a very American genre, but with grit and grime you only find in modern sci-fi. Imagine this, with less than a dozen episodes, but on The Expanse’s budget.
Oh god no, they'll woke'ify it into oblivion like they did with Dr Who. Leave us with some good, untarnished memories.
My favourite series
Blake’s 7 alone is something Terry Nation created that is preserved by fans and the efforts of the writers and BBC staff.
Series(season) 1-2 is considered quintessential Blake’s 7. Besides Blake is actually in it, the theme of Freedom Fighting against tyranny was there.
Though Ker Avon is a fan favorite. Series 3-4 is just the means justified the end and run.
Series 4 was innovative with special effects but minus the Liberator. The 7 crew had nothing to match the Federation.
A 5th season was proposed, I would have love how it would have been like.

This prompted me to look for the music track. There is an entire genre or covers of David Bowie's song Heroes. Thank-you for this unexpected gift.
This version changes to a remix of Gang Of Youths' cover which was used in a trailer for a DC film. The remix wasn't readily available which is why the quality dips.
10/10 using this version of Heroes

God Damn!!! I wished you had been there to direct this series. I loved it then, yet I would love for a newer version to help us see a more tragic heroic future for today....

This one was nicely edited (especially towards the end) and the choice of soundtrack was poignantly apt.

Great effort. The only thing that spoils it slightly is the absence of Blake. It should have finished with an image of him or at least a voiceover: "Avon...its me, Blake!"
Thank you. I'm thinking of doing a modern trailer for the last episode in time for its 40th anniversary. Deliberating which one Blake line to include. But I'd stick with excluding him from a series trailer, so not to diminish the impact of his apparent death at the end of Terminal. And the series stands on its own well enough without his presence hanging over it.

Absolutely fantastic Scifi tv show, I have come to understand that the main reason why Blake's 7 props and effects look the way they were is it was competing with Doctor who for a budget
I really don't get the hate on B7's FX. Obviously, some shots aren't that great, but this was common for any sci-fi program of that era. Star Trek TOS had a much larger budget than DW or B7, and still had some shoddy FX.
Nowadays, it seems that people consider any FX shot that isn't brimming with CGI sensory overload is "shoddy."
In B7's Series 4, the Scorpio silo sequence is still some of the best miniature work in the history of television. Several shots of Liberator still hold up today -- most notably are the shot of the ship stationary as the camera slowly moves toward it, and another shot where Liberator is moving left to right with a bright sun in the background -- the latter is spectacular when you consider it was 100% practical; even the background wasn't blue screen. To achieve a tracking shot of a spaceship MOVING with no computer assistance whatsoever, and that shot still hold up today is a level of perfection no modern CG effect has come close to achieving.
@@sixstanger00 Not hate it all, I love like 7 and I would TuneIn for every single episode I could find when it played on on PBS I was simply stating a fact that Blake 7 was competing for Budget on the BBC with Doctor who and this is one of the reason why it didn't get as top billing for all of its special effects, nothing more than that.
I believe for the liberator tracking shot with the sun: the sun is closer to the camera than the liberator model.
Did you know they shot reels of stock flyby footage of that quality which were never used?
@@draco-amercon But even when DW _wasn't_ competing with B7, DW's FX were still not "top billing."
During it's run, DW was never afforded a healthy budget - even during it's peak in the 70s.

If that's true, then they did a masterful job of backlighting the model and the other planets in the background.
But you're probably right -- the "sun" was probably in the foreground so that the pylon the model was mounted to could pass behind it unseen.

There are some fans who strongly believe the arch-villain Servalan herself should have been bumped off in Orbit by ageing her to death with the hoffal,s radiation which Pinder kills himself and egrorian with
There's a few episodes where they're at a loss for what to do with her. I wish they'd held off her return till the second half of the last series
@@SciFiAssasin they kept her around cause they thought the BEEB was green light a 5th season.
Though she got demoted and the Federation is actually a giant entity. Servalan was the face of it and Jaqueline Pearce is poisonously irresistible.
@@digipeeper I thought she was wasted in the final series. While I'm glad Jacqueline Pearce got the work at a particularly low point in her life, I like to think that when Servalan teleported off the Liberator she landed on a primitive planet with no means of getting back to the federation, but was worshipped as a goddess by the inhabitants and lived the rest of her life in luxury and being a benevolent ruler.
Well, apart from a load of murders, a brutal regime if terror and one or two genocides, she wasn't _that_ bad.
I dunno, that setup in the last episode had her high heel marks all over it...I like to think she lives on.
I heard when it came to making series 4 of B7 the arch-villain Servalan was not intended to return originally and a new regular villain was to be created for season 4 of B7
It may have been a back up plan as at the time Jacqueline Pearce was having problems. She'd formed an unfortunate attachment to man in the USA and was spending all her time and money flying over to beg him to take her back after their affair ended.
I've just reread that part of her autobiography, "From Byfleet to the Bush".

They should have made Dorian a series regular. Season 4 would have no been much more interesting.
Geoffrey Burridge is my favourite guest actor. And yes, it would've been interesting having him around for a few episodes at least.
It'd have been even more interesting to have him in his Sea Devil persona as a regular. Imagine a Sea Devil death cry in the final scene.

Another great trailer :) One thing i couldn't help but notice is how different Glynis Barber looks at the beginning of the series compared to the end. She looks like a completely different person. I can't figure it out. Is it all makeup changes?
Thank you. I read recently that she had it written into her contract that her hairstyle was different each episode, which is certainly was.

The arch-enemy and arch-villain Servalan herself is wasted in this 4th series IMO and a new arch-enemy should have been invented
She's certainly just hanging around for contractual obligations, except for Sand, Orbit, Games, and Gold.
