James: "There are so many creatures going around, what are they gonna do, obliviate the whole city?" Well, actually yes lmao
Lmao
Men in black style LOL
Newt is the author of the book they use in Hogwarts, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and his grandson married Luna
and published by Obscurus Books! Which makes me so emotional theorizing about.
wait what, damn how did i miss that
Wait... So that means either Neville is his grandson or he didn't marry Luna in the end🤔
@@nobleconsejera5278 The Neville thing was just from the movies. Neville and Luna never had a thing together in the books.
@@nobleconsejera5278Neville ended up marrying Hannah Abbott
Bellatrix Lestrange was a Lestrange by marriage with Rodolphus Lestrange. Her maiden name was Bellatrix Black
I love how you guys love Newt. He got quite the negative criticism from most media and movie critiques because he "lacks masculinity" and "behaves unmanly". But what does manliness even mean? Newt has a gentle, nurturing and compassionate side and that's extremely attractive and wonderful in my eyes.
And it’s just different. I’ve seen regular heirs before , this was new and refreshing
I don't even understand why they want cliché heroes?? I love both him and Theseus, and I'm glad we get Hufflepuff heroes 💛 (coming from a Slytherin)
Really!! but all the movie he was very brave. he is just an introvert and awkward. he is good
It is really awful how media tried to tear him apart like that and try to put all "heroes" into a box, especially with so many feeling like they were finally represented in film as many, including Eddie Redmayne himself, identify Newt as laying somewhere on the autism spectrum.
I did like Newt, mostly because he was a great example of a Hufflepuff hero. But my Slytherin side loves Grindlewald.
finally someone else who likes them , everyone seems to hate on these movies , but i like them, a lotttt
I mean I like the second a little more, but yes! Very good films indeed!
I love them! Watched this movie everyday with my kids for a while after it came on streaming platforms...
I love hw newt is depicted. The way he doesnt look you int eh eye and looks down, doesnt understnad reactions of people towards the lovely creatures, has more witht he animals than humans. The way the actor brings out that " autistic" side is amazing. I love these movies just becaue of that
Hooray!!!! I love Newt and identify with him so much. You rarely get an introverted, socially awkward main character, yet here we are. Gotta love it
Yes! He is one of my favorite characters in the Wizarding World
Harry Potter is set in the 90s.
In September 1991, Harry, Ron and Hermione enter Hogwats for the first time and in 1998 it is the battle of Hogwarts where they defeat Voldemort.
This movie is set in 1926
Oh ok. Makes sense
Fun facts: Voldemort was born on December 31, 1926.
The Battle of Hogwarts was on May 2, 1998.
Wait so that means that Queenie can’t be his mom, unless he was already born in the 2nd movie yeah?
@@whitenoisereacts How the hell did you guys conclude that Queenie was his mother? 🤣
@@whitenoisereacts Voldemort's mom is british and Queenie is American. Her name is Merope, by the way. So, no, Queenie is not his mom 😂😂
Congrats on figuring out that Graves was Grindelwald so early. When it first came out, they had just announced Johnny Depp was in the movie in an unnamed role just a few weeks before it released. Us Potterheads naturally theorized that he was Grindelwald, so when the reveal/confirmation happened, we all flipped our shit. Particularly us Johnny Depp fans
Yeah, which is now real sad in hindsight...
@@whitenoisereacts Sad that Johnny Depp sucks, but Mads Mikkelsen is amazing so I'm okay with the recast.
@@inantarctica Sucks? Why?
@Melissa Waterman yeah then hollywood crucified him based on feeble evidence he abused his wife when its much more likely Amber Heard abused him. I was positive I heard a rumor that Diseny hired him back but until FB 3 I'm not sure if its true.
The amount of accurate guesses for this movie was hilarious to watch. I love Harry Potter, but the art deco, speakeasy, roaring 20s vibe is spectacular.
Yeah. Well I was going into this expecting Harry Potter level mystery, so we kinda killed it lmao
@@whitenoisereacts I like that it is similar to Harry Potter in that way but also more mature to appeal to the generation that grew up with Harry Potter and are now adults
Its just amazing how "Eddie Redmayne" "auditioned" for the Role of Tom Riddle in Chamber of Secrets But got rejected and now he got to play "Newt" which its totally the character meaNt For Him. Sometimes Everything really happens for a good reason. Really proud of him.
Something I want to say:
Aragog said:”I came with a man in a suitcase”
I think I know where Hagrid got Aragog... xD
I thought he said “in the pocket of a traveler”.
@@ghoullazarus2835 i am German and didn’t knew the original English quote
@@lynxeye_kthat's okay, and it's still possible Aragog came from Newt. Newt kept Pickett the bowtruckle in his pocket for a time, so why not a baby acromantula?
Wait till you watch the second movie, Fantastic Beasts The Crimes of Grindelwald. And yes it’s gonna keep getting darker.
Just like the actual Harry Potter series ;-;
Bellatrix Lestrange is Sirius' cousin so she was actually born Bellatrix Black and therefore isn't related to Leta Lestrange. Bellatrix's husband's name is Rodulphus Lestrange so he is probably related to Leta in some way. Great reaction! It was really entertaining and I'm looking forward to the next movie reaction. :)
Leta is probably great-aunt of Rodolphus Lestrange. We can't be sure for now, but there's this theory.
Lestrange's family was originally from France. The movie will explain it later in the second movie
@@kirzadamar9900 the Rosier family too! They're also from France. Bellatrix's mom was a Rosier.
i love how ninetailedbrush guessed everything correctly, dude got mad instincts
he is Hufflepuff like mr. scamander
@@melannyratliff9429 And Hufflepuffs are particularly good at FINDING stuff.
@@rockysandman5489it's because we're very observant 😌
The acting I think was amazing and made for a great movie. Plus I love newt, he’s not your typical main hero but he’s so lovable
First? This is the first one.
Ik I saw Grindelwald and thought this was the second one😅
The cover for this reaction is from the second movie... For a moment, I thought I missed the first one
I wish we could see more of the other wizarding schools. There's 7 in total. Including Hogwarts and Illvermorny, there's:
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Scotland)
Beauxbatons Academy of Magic (Pyrenees, France)
Durmstrang Institute (Northern Europe)
Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry ( Massachusetts)
Mahoutokoro (Japan)
Uagadou (Uganda)
Koldovstoretz (Russia)
Castelobruxo (Brazil)
Oh, and there's the Greek Institute of Advanced Magic. Like, I would love to there!!!
I think we shall see one day. If not in movies, in another sort of media
That's eight... But it's confirmed that there are eleven in total, at least those that are recognized by the International Confederation of Wizards. The identity of the other three just wasn't confirmed yet, but we know one of them is in Australia.
Maybe there's more, for example Asian Magical School is in Japan, even though Asia is wiiiiiddeeeeeee, it's no way it's just Japan😅
So the Niffler's first appearance was actually in the 4th Harry Potter Book. Hagrid brings a whole bunch of them for a Care of Magical Creatures lesson
This movie made me so proud to be a hufflepuff. Newt became one of my favorite characters in the Wizarding World after watching this movie!
@@Gnossiene369 I never said it was real. Also why are you trying to be negative when it’s just a random Harry Potter video? Have a great day :)
@@lifeisgreat5882 He and Cedric are both great examples of why we should be proud to be Hufflepuff!

This film got more negative feedback than it deserved. I loved it and Newt's character and I agree with what you said about making a new series in the same world as another loved world. Really excited to see you react to the next one! It's very different.
I think fans just hyped it up and expected something as epic as Harry Potter and this was not that.
@@whitenoisereacts Definitely, looking forward to your reaction to the sequel (also hoping you'll react to the AVPM sequel too)
He technically remembers because he has no bad memories of magic... And NEWT is Hufflepuff what did you expect? He's a pure soul.
I really loved Fantastic Beasts! I am a huge Harry Potter fan (of course) but I feel like what made me really love FB is that I knew not to compare it to HP. There are wonderful connections and hints of HP within the movies but what makes FB so great to me is that it doesn't solely rely on it. FB acts as its own entity creating these new worlds and creatures and methodologies. It explores the world of magic that we never really got to see in HP. It feels like a breath of fresh air while still maintaining that nostalgic taste of magic and mystery that we got with HP.
Seriously this is not healthy anymore...everytime I get the notification that you uploaded a video I start to scream because I'm so exited...😅
Sounds pretty healthy to me ;)
@@whitenoisereacts oh cool then😃😂
I am very sad about Johnny Depp leaves from the cast
Same😔
it is very unfair
Fun fact: Grindelwald is defeated the same year Tom Riddle graduated from Hogwarts (1945). I wonder if Riddle was inspired by him...
Tom had already started some of his plans before graduating from Hogwarts (e.g. opening the chamber of secrets, learning about horcruxes), so it's possible. Grindelwald would have probably been at the height of his power when Tom started all that 😊
#justiceforjohnnydepp
If there's one thing I don't like about the Fantastic beasts it's the fact that the filmmakers rely way too much on CGI . For example the goblins look more real if they were actors in prosthetic make up and it would've been cool if they had actually made animatronics for the beasts in both movies .
Yeah. That’s the constant battle. Sometimes they get lazy and go too overboard with it
YAY CONTINUING THE HP UNIVERSE!
Glad you’ve finally met the niffler! One of the cutest creatures in the magical universe 🥺
It's the fantasy equivalent of the husky...it loves to steal things.
Newt has a gentle masculinity that sets him apart from the prototypical hero. His strength is through his compassion and care. I find Newt to be amazing. My only sadness about it all is that Newt is too old to know Luna Lovegood. I think the characters would have a beautiful understanding of the other and form a great friendship had they existed within the same timeline.
Yes. Just yes. Someone write a fan fic rn
@@whitenoisereacts another time travel story is necessary! Grab a time turner!
Why wouldn’t they exist in the same timeline? Newt could easily still be alive. Dumbledore was his professor at Hogwarts, and still teaching when Harry and Co started. He only died because of the Horcrux and Voldemort.
I mean, Luna did end up getting married to his grandson so I like to think that canonically, they would sit together and have tea while chatting about animals
Newt's Briefcase works as a combination of Hermione's handbag and the tent from the 4th HP movie. Its an undetectable extendable charm. IDK if you can go into Hermione's bag but that part in taken from the tent in GOF
Moody's trunk too
Newt is such an amazing hero because not only does he flip the archetype of the hero upside down but also, his character development in this movie isn’t learning to fight or do magic to combat evil, he already knows all of that, he doesn’t brag but he is a great wizard, instead he learns to be a better at human relationships and interactions, as you can see, at first, you only saw him thrive when he was with his creatures and was really awkward and closed up with people and by the end of the movie he didn’t really change, he didn’t go from introvert to extrovert or anything like that instead he just found the people that adapted to him and how he is without asking him to change and that is when he started to open up
I'm definitely curious to see your reaction to the crimes of Grindelwald. I think you'll really like Johnny's performance and also #JusticeForJohnnyDepp
Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter ends up marrying Rolf Scamander, Newt's grandson 😁 and they had twin boys, Lorcan and Lysander
I don’t know if you’ve been told yet, but Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald had a romance when they were young, which was left out of the Deathly Hallows movie but was alluded to in the books.
When Graves (really Grindelwald) is questioning Newt and asks “What makes Albus Dumbledore so fond of you?” I think that was a bit of old fashioned jealousy there....
I agree. I mean, just because he is upset with Dumbledore doesn't mean he hates him completely now.
@jay jay ehh, not really considering they’re a week ahead on Patreon, they posted the FB: Crimes of Grindelwald the same time this went up. They’ve seen it therefore it’s not a spoiler.
@jay jay they already watched Crimes of Grindelwald on Patreon. And even if they didn't, their romance was mentioned by the author and there are hints of it in the Harry Potter books.
@jay jay it was in the books and they’ve seen the Harry Potter movies, so they should be aware at this point of the relevant information they should have gained. For example should they not be told about the creators of the Marauders Map were James, Remus, Sirius, and Peter just because it wasn’t in the movies? No. They can know this.
Love Newt Scamander 🖤💛 fellow Hufflepuff
The whole Harry potter series takes place from 1991 to 1998 . the first fantastic beasts takes place 1926 and fantastic beast 2 takes place 1927 .
I really liked this movie it was nice to see more of the wizarding world without it being all about Harry Potter (though his films are still my favs). I cant wait for your reaction to the next movie i personally prefer it to this one
Yes. I agree. The second one is rlly good!
I always thought that Credence was able to be an obscurial as an adult, because he seemed to have an underdeveloped brain, causing him to technically be a child in a man's body
Ilvermorny is a "copy" of Hogwarts, that a person from Ireland built, after she fled from home from her pureblood supremacist aunt (who is related to Voldemort / his great-great-great-.... grand aunt). She wanted to build a school for the children in the US to be taught magic and built it in a similar way to the stories she had heard about Hogwarts.
the next, Crimes of Grindelwald is amazing 🔥🔥🔥
From what I understand, there's a bit of continuity errors in that one. I've yet to watch it though, but from what I've gathered thus far, McGonagall is not at the age she's supposed to be in that year.
This is what my week builds up to, gotta love the Harry Potter franchise and your reactions are class aswell
👍👍thanks man!
@@whitenoisereacts no problem 🙂
In prisoners of azkaban,Hagrid took a class on nifflers.Harry and Ron both really liked them even wanted to adopt them
i think it's why newt was seen walking around hogwarts in the Marauder's map when Fred and George introduced the map to Harry
If you rewatch the scene in Prisoner of Azkaban where Harry gets the Marauders map you Will see Newt on the map as well :)
really?? that's so cool. Where? in Hogwarts??
@@whitenoisereacts Well there are some theories why they mentioned him on the map. But since he knew Dumbledore it could be he was visiting him
HuffleBUFFS unite.

Thanks man!! That’s real sweet. We try, to be kind that is 😂😂
Some magic spell can work even if you don’t literally hold your wand so long as it’s with you. Like apparating, floating, etc.
Grindelwald was Dumbledore’s best friend and both of them were once obsessed with the Deathly Hallows and muggle domination.
I thought it was a Magical thing....the giggle water.
But apparently, Giggle water was slang for alcohol back in the 20's
Oh...I totally did too lmao
I don't know if this is because I'm a girl, but i knew Mr Graves was a bad guy just because of the way he was touching (Or not touching) Credence. He was too much in his space, he had a hungry look in his eyes and he kept getting too close to him while never actually giving him any affection. He is always hovering, and even when said nice things, his body language betrays his disdain. And Credence needed affection so much that he kept trying to gain love from this older, bad-touch man. It gave me the creeps.
Their relationship(as an abusive, controlling, gaslighting relationship) is really well portrayed
Can you guys react to Train to Busan? Trust me, it's the best zombie's movie ever ! Looks forward to it 😄 btw, I love your guys reaction
An obscurus is created when a magical child surpresses their magical ability for years without harnessing its power that’s why most children get a wand so they can learn to focus their magical ability and that’s also why the go to magical schools like hogworts in the British community and the American magical school for the American community and the other magical school in the world like dumstrang after you obliviate someone there’s a chance that the person will remember what happened before they were obliviated so the government doesn’t want that to happen
There is so much more about Grindelwald in the books that didn't make it into the HP movies. Dumbledore and Grindelwald worked together and were friends (and implied to be lovers), which adds extra depth to Grindelwald asking about Dumbledore. Dumbledore and Grindelwald were obsessed with the Deathly Hallows and doing things "For the Greater Good". Dumbledore eventually realized that ti was wrong and in a duel between the two, Dumbledore's sister was killed, Dumbledore lived with the guilt for the rest of his life. In Half Blood Prince when he has to drink the potion in the cave, he is forced to relive that memory. Dumbledore eventually beats Grindelwald in a duel which is how he won the Elder Wand.
O yea
So Newt is actually the author for one of the textbooks used at Hogwarts called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which is what this whole series is based on
The series isn't actually based on the book. The book is just a catalog of animals lol
Edit: I think most people liked this movie. It's the next one that has a lot of people hating it, mostly for what it does to what we thought this movie was about, the characters and how it ended. It made people (including me) reject it BECAUSE we liked this first one.
Also I meant to say/ask this earlier when you guys watched HP and the Deathly Hallows part 1, where you get to see young Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald, but... Did you happen to notice how much James looks like the actor (Toby Regbo) portraying young Dumbledore in that picture? :)

I really love Jacob and Queenie. 🥺
If only real world can just be that way: You met and you fall in love 🥺
Hey, it happens, not to all of us, but it does happen ;)
So there is a theory that Jacob is actually a squib!
Im so hyped for the second one.
You will just be like: 😮😯😲
You said you're starting to read the books, right? That's so exciting because there is a lot more story in the books that you don't get if you only watch the movies. That's not a criticism of the movies. I adore the movies! Literally never get tired of watching them. But the books will enrich your experience even more! I've read them multiple times. My favorite series.
This movie won the first Oscar of the wizarding world ever (best costume).
James: No cause grindelwald had white hair...
Me:.... Dude... wizards remember?
lol
In the beginning when he pulled the muggle to him, he basically just accio'd the dude then apparated
so yeah Fantastic Beasts is set before the time of Harry Potter and follows the story of Newt Scamander (who eventually wrote the book called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which was mentioned in one of the HP books). the only thing we do know about Newt is that he REALLY cares about rare and endangered magical creatures...so whatever he has inside that case is probably something to do with magical animals. i mean he is like Hagrid x5 in that regard. the main villain of this trilogy (yes trilogy they still haven't made the third one) is Grindelwald who pretty much was the Voldemort of that era. He knew how to motivate dark wizards and instil terror into others. He was very cunning and he is of course played by the legendary Johnny Depp.
after Mr Graves was killed in the attack at the beginning Grindelwald assumed his identity but everyone thought Graves was the sole survivor of that attack.
I’ve heard somewhere that Newt is on the spectrum. That’s why he never really makes eye contact and you can sense that he’s a little “different” from others.
I'm autistic, and I perceive Newt as being heavily autistic-coded. It's so refreshing to see a lovable, interesting character on screen who shares so many of the same traits I have, without being shoved into some of the barf-worthy stereotypical portrayals of autism in the media. I desperately wish for more genuine autism representation (NOT like Sia's "Music" monstrosity, good grief), but for now I'll settle for headcanons like the blessing that is Newt's vibrant character.
Gotta love your reactions! Newts book he is researching is the same book Hagrid uses for his class and the main reason Hagrid loves his crazy animals as much as he does. And Queenie's abilities to read minds is the same as Voldemorts ability and why Snape was trying to teach Harry to shield his. Snape was an expert in shielding his mind. Theory goes Queenie is a distant relative I believe. There is a video about it somewhere.
Im sure youve seen/know but "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" by Newt Scamander was one of the books Harry/Ron/Hermione had to buy for school in the 1st Book. Mentioned when Hagrid takes Harry to Diagon Alley

it's cute that NTB likes Newt as character, because there not much hufflepuff representation.
I think the repair Spell is Limited to the Power of the Person using it so Its actually limitless but dont. But thats Just a guess of course.
I think in the film Newt said the Swooping Evil venom takes away bad memories, so since Jacob had some good memories unlike the rest of New York..some lingered

Newt is a magical bootinist basically and in Harry Potter days they learn from his books on magical creatures

aw man, I can't wait for you to watch the 2nd one...it's a doozy!
You get more than just name drops... 😉
I'm happy you noticed the hair cut. From the begining we have a shot of Grindelwald's blond hair and then the same shot with Grave's black hair, so from the start I was so sure it was the same guy xD
Voldemort was the most evil wizard of all time, yet grindelwald at his prime was more powerful than Voldemort lol
I really don't think so. Voldemort did things no one ever did before. He was the first one to create more than two horcruxes and the first wizard to fly without a broom. I think Grindelwald may be more influent, but Voldemort was 10x more dangerous
Also remember that Grindelwald had the Elder Wand while Voldemort had his original wand, during each of his reign of power.
That’s blatantly false. The books state explicitly that Voldemort was more
powerful than Grindelwald ever was. Voldemort is explicitly described as the most greatest, most powerful, and most dangerous dark wizard of all time. Dumbledore himself says so.
At the very beginning of this video you were moving your mouth together with guys telling their nicknames just like Emma Watson did in the first movie, moving her mouth while someone else were telling their lines 😅
🙊 lol
Newt and Jacob are just such amazing characters and everyone falls in love with them bc they are both being true to themselves and not trying to be anything else and they don't want anything else besides what is right. Idk how to explain it... Just likeable characters... In reality though Newt being kind of awkward and an outcast doesn't work the same in the real world...
Hinestly, as an autistic woman, I can identify myself in Newt
yall should react to Bad Times at the El Royale its soo good and underrated!!!
Yes!!!! I went into that film not expecting much. And I love Hemsworth, yet wasn't hoping for the best with his role. He nailed it. Played the creepy cult leader far too well. But the stars of this film were Father Daniel and Darlene. Those two characters and the actors were phenomenal onscreen together.

There's a great channel called Harry Potter Folklore. It explains everything about hp and thr lore. So if there's anything you don't understand, you should check it out
I do enjoy the direction they took in this movie franchise to go the opposite route from Harry Potter so that they could expand the world and the magic more. Harry Potter was a child so he was confined to his home and his school for most of the series and while that was amazing and I loved that, it's fun to now get to explore a character who travels the world for his interests so we get to see the American magical world and not just students. It's cool that we're now following adults too so the magic isn't confined to what a child has learnt so far depending on what grade level they're at. We get to see the more advanced spellwork and all of the things we didn't know you could do with magic. I love the choice to have a Hufflepuff be the hero since they got ignored and discounted in the Harry Potter franchise. And we get to see a male lead in a heroic role where he's not the macho man stereotype who gets all the girls and is suave and always ready to jump into a fight. Newt is still every bit a hero but he relies on his intellect and empathy and his nurturing spirit with animals. He's genuinely kind, quiet and sort of shy but he gets the job done and he inspires those around him. It's such a rare portrayal of masculinity that you don't get a whole lot of in action/adventure films. It also shows that a Hufflepuff's kindness, loyalty and patience doesn't make them any less hero material that those from other houses.
Hey you probably don’t know but Erza Miller goes by they/them pronouns so when you’re not referring to their character you should use they/them :)
This was a really good reaction, I really enjoyed watching this, looking forward to the sequel. Great job guys.

My favorite characters in this movie are newt, Jacob, and queenie, plus newt is a hufflepuff just like me yay. Oh grindewald is pretty badass too aka Johnny Depp.
6:26 well, the reason magical beasts don't get out into the cities in HP is because by then, the magical beasts have most all been slaughtered or enslaved. For hundreds of years, witches and wizards have hunted them down, labeling them as monsters to either use or kill. That's why Newt is so special.. because he has this amazing ability to not only understand magical beasts - who are really just animals for the most part - but to bond with them as well. Newt is basically a magical beast activist. He wants magical society to understand and protect magical beasts.
Collin Farewell aka Mr. Graves will now be playing Penguin in the new Batman movie with Robert Pattinson.
I wish you would have reacted to it AFTER reading the books, but oh well...
