There is a theory that Credence is the Obscurus of Ariana (therefore a Dumbledore!) given a body by Flamel and Dumbledore. The channel Super Carlin Brothers did a video about it. The Philosopher's stone turns Silver (and other metals) into Gold: Ariana (means Silver) to Aurelius (Gold).

okay so a little backstory on dumbledore and gridlewalds relationship from the books. grindlewald went to his aunt in godrics hollow and he met Dumbledore and they became really close friends and they had a mindset that the world would be better with wizards above the muggles (like what grindlewald is saying in this movie) and their catchphrase was "for the greater good" (because they thought that like that the world would be better) They thought that the way to do that was to get the deathly hallows. (which is why grindlewald stole the elder wand in the first place, why Dumbledore had the invisibility cloak when james and lily died and why he put on the ring that cursed him-it was the restriction stone and he couldn't resist the temptation). anyway a three way duel happened between grindlewald Dumbledore and aberforth (dumbledores brother) and his sister tried to come and help but she got killed and nobody knows who fired the curse that killed her. after that they stopped being friends and in 1945 they had their iconic duel in which grindlewald was sent to prison and Dumbledore got the elder wand. i hope that was understandable😅

He wasn’t like Voldemort in the sense that he was exceedingly persuasive and didn’t need fear like Voldemort to gather followers because he was able to convince people of his cause. He is meant to represent Hitler, who many don’t realize, but was actually an incredible speaker and exceedingly persuasive, a skill both obviously abuse to do terrible things. The leading theory here is that Leta sacrificing herself to save the person she loves (Newt) is going to give him some measure of protection against Grindelwald moving forward. The assumption is that Dumbledore will see/learn about this and that's how he'll later learn how to use it to his advantage when the same thing happens years later when Lily sacrifices herself to protect Harry from Voldemort.

Plus in HP6 during one of Voldemort's memory, during Slughorn's dinner there's a boy named Lestrange at the table who's the same age as Riddle. Knowing that the next movie should take place during the first year at Hogwarts of Voldemort, their should be a boy Lestrange around 10yo. I hope we will have explanations about that in the next movies (knowing that there's rumors saying that Voldemort should be in the next one as a student in his first year at Hogwarts) but for the moment the timeline doesn't feel really respected.

So now I’m thinking that he was her dark twin and that Albus must not have ever known about or seen credence/aurelious and he would only ever fully form when Ariana was alone to keep her company!
This would explain why we’ve never heard about Aurelious before!
And then when Ariana died something happened to Aurelious that erased his memories (or maybe he erased them himself because he couldn’t bare the grief) and that would explain why he didn’t know he was a dumbledore!

Another link is the surname Rosier, Rosier was one of the earliest Death Eaters of Lord Voldemort! Unlike Voldemort, Grindelwald doesn’t want to exterminate muggles, but he wants to use them for his own benefit! A few things they changed for the movie that only slightly annoy me are that Dumbledore was supposed to be the Transfiguration teacher, not Defense Against the Dark Arts. Also, McGonagall isn't supposed to he born until the 1930's, but they have her already teaching in flashbacks to the 1910's.

Our problem with this movie is quite simple: the best part about the Harry Potter world, from a technical point of view, was that it had almost NO plot-holes. Even things that seemed weird, JK Rowling found a way to explain later, so everything felt very real.
But then, in this movie, she completely ignored MANY important things just for the sake of fan service. For example, McGonagall was in this movie, which is weird, considering she was born 20 or 30 years AFTER that scene. Also, Albus Dumbledore NEVER taught Defense Against The Dark Arts, but they decided to put him there anyway. Another thing is Credence being a Dumbledore, which was also impossible because, when he was born, Dumbledore's father was already in prison and his mother was dead. And we also see people apparating in Hogwarts, even though it's impossible, as well as Newt using Accio in a living creature, which is also impossible.
Another thing that I hated in this movie is how many plot lines are happening at the same time. From the middle to the end it gets SO confusing that until today I have to think really hard to understand it, and all of that happened for nothing because they still didn't discover who Credence was. We also didn't have a reason to care about Leta, so I spent the whole movie simply not caring and then she died and I was like "oh, ok then".
And lastly, there's something that kinda bothers me, but it's not about this movie specifically, but the whole series: there's no reason why Newt is the main character. He was known worldly for being a magizoologist, there's nothing in history about any involvement in the fight against Grindelwald. And out of so many powerful wizards, it doesn't make sense that Dumbledore chose him for this task. There's also no reason at all why this is called "Fantastic Beasts", considering it's not about the beasts anymore, and now they keep making scenes with magical creatures to make it seems like the title still fits, when it clearly doesn't lol

Actually “accio” was used on living creatures in the 7th book too. It’s never confirmed that Dumbledore never taught DADA, so the movie doesn’t contradict canon in any way. And as for McGonagall her birth date was never confirmed. The fact that she wasn’t born at this time yet is an assumption that fans made that is only true if you interpret McGonagall’s words in a specific way, but the canon material leaves open the possibility for other interpretations. And lastly, regarding Credence we don’t even know the full truth yet so being angry that it doesn’t make sense canon-wise is absurd. There are multiple possible explanations for the discrepancy: Grindelwald lying; Credence being a Dumbledore but not Albus’ border (for example the cousin, since we know of an aunt of Dumbledore, and we see a woman with the baby on the ship); Credence being an entity created from Ariana’s Obscurus (Ariana, silver, turned into Aurelius, gold...and look at it, the Philosopher’s Stone is able to “turn” any metal into gold, and Albus in desperation could have asked Flamel to use the Stone on his sister). So of 4 plot-holes that you mentioned, not a single one is a true plot-hole.

    • @katherinebrannum2573

Nicholas Flammel was an old friend of Dumbledore and the man who created the Philosophers Stone...he was mostly mentioned in the first book. he died after he and dumbledore agreed to destroy the stone at the end of the first book (which was keeping Nicholas alive).
Grindelwald used world war II and weapons of war to make wizards fear non magic people...that way it would be easier for them to just say "ok let's kill them all" it was clever and effective.

Love your reactions guys! Regarding Credence being a Dumbledore, I have 3 different theories:
    1. Grindelwald lied about Credence being Dumbledore's brother in order to manipulate him
    2. Rowling decided to fudge the timeline a bit - maybe she decided this particular plot point made for a better movie and decided to run with it despite it contradicting her previous works
    3. Rowling made a mistake and misremembered the timeline or something - it happens all the time in movies and tv shows, like the Weeping Angels in Doctor Who. The second episode they were in it was established that Weeping Angels can't be photographed or the picture angel will become a real Angel, and that bad things happen when you look one in the eye, but in the first episode they were in, the main character took photos and looked them in the eye with no consequences.

Dumbledoor looked into the mirror of Erised which shows you your deepest desire, and it was the object he made with Grindlewald, and Grindlewald himself. They were friends years ago before Grindlewald went on his take over humanity/expose wizardry thing. I think the Object was a blood pact that they would never go against each other, so he literally cannot go after him. But I also think he doesn't want to considering they were friends. (And according to theory, he had fallen in love with him at some point and didn't want to hurt him.)

A lot of people miss that the auror that killed one of the civilians in the crowd was also one of the ones that joined Grindlewald in the circle after the crowd left. He was a plant to convince the crowd that the aurors were the bad guys.
Besides the issues with Dumbledore and Credence, the other problem with the chronology in the movie is McGonagall. According to the original history JK Rowling released online, McGonagall wasn't even born at the time of this movie and didn't start teaching at Hogwarts until around the middle of the century. And she got the McGonagall name from her husband who came from a muggle family so the McGonagall in this movie can't be an ancestor either.

I love this movie so much, I love seeing more of the universe and everything to do with it, and I loved your guy’s reactions. My main issues with this movie however is the timeline inconsistency, specifically with characters ages and appearances
Dumbledore was born in the early 1880s, which would make him in his late 40s in this movie. That fits his appearance quite well and I’m fine with it, HOWEVER, in the Tom Riddle flashback in the second hp movie, which was sometime around 1943-1945 (Dumbledore would have been in his 60s), it was very obvious that he had been growing out a beard and long hair for a LONG time, at least 30 year, which doesn’t fit with the 18 year age gap between these moments. This honestly could’ve been easily remedied by giving him longer hair and a longer beard to signal even a start to grow it out, and I’m not TOO upset about it.
I AM however more upset about McGonagall. Long story short: McGonagall wasn’t even alive in 1927. Infact, she wouldn’t be born for another 10 years (take a few). Now, I’ll be completely honest: I don’t have this movie memorized, so it could be possible that they never said her first name, and meant it to be her mother or something, and at the very least they may be able to play it off as such. But I feel like I remember them saying her name, idk. Either way that one makes me a bit upset, just because it doesn’t fit her age in the slightest lol.
Ok, that’s my movie rant / info dump done. Loved the reaction!

    1) I’m pretty sure White Noise Reactions HAS already seen most of the things they react to; it’s in his knowing smirks and giggles and how he steers conversations when “hypothesizing” stuff. If they have seen it then it’d be better to either not steer conversation or just say they’ve seen it already, but want to watch it again.
    2) Dumbledore’s Grindelwald’s ex boyfriend. They both were power hungry in their youth and made an unbreakable vow that they’d never fight each other. After Dumbledore’s sister died he stopped working with Grindelwald and tried to be a bit of a better person. It’s HIS sister’s obscurial that is possessing Credence; that’s why Fox the phoenix reacts to him/her. He’s lying to Credence & the sister to get it angry at Dumbledore and make him a target. This way he can get Dumbledore killed but not by his own hands. Grindelwald can read minds and has a “silver tongue” so is able to bewitch others just by speaking; no hand gestures nor wand necessary. People also have theories about Queenie possibly being related to Snape because of her mind reading powers. That is a very rare ability much like being a parcel-tongue. Snap has the ability as does Voldemort, but technically Voldemort is either already born or about to be born so he got nothing from Queenie; it’d have to be Snape if either of them.
    3) Rudolphus Lestrange is the one that married Bellatrix
