Man it’s hard to pick just 10… so many great releases this year. Liked your list! The 200 Stab Wounds and Bewitcher are great records start to finish. My list would definitely have 4 you didn’t mention: High on Fire - Cometh the Storm, Opeth - Last Will… , Amethyst - Throw Down the Gauntlet, and Vomit Forth - Fear of God. I’d have to say as a fan of hardcore and dbeat or noise rock (Malignant Tumor Maximum Rock n Roll 🤘🏻) makes it so hard to narrow down just 10. Cheers to another great year and enjoyable posts! Your list was interesting Thank you for putting it together. I share your opinion on a couple albums you mentioned. But, for me, Gatecreeper was the album of the year.
cool list...with all the new metal releases last year, a few "usual suspects" snuck past me without my knowing about them...I will not mention them to prevent being embarrassed...
Love that Bewitcher album and several others on your list. Up until a few days ago I would have declared my number 1 album of 2024 Bruce Dickinson “The Mandrake Project” but then I received and listened to “Nell Ora Blu” by Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats. I’m amazed that it hasn’t made other people’s top ten lists.
Some of yours were on my list also....Bewitcher, Skeletal Remains, Priest, 200 Stab Wounds, BDM. I had a few prog/death metal bands (Anciients, Oceans of Slumber, Eternal Storm) and a couple doom bands (Early Moods, Temple of the Fuzz Witch) on my list. And i loved the new Atrophy and debut from Vicious Blade. Love the channel. 🤘
Excellent list mother of graves is on my list along with blood incantation, iotunn, opeth, kanonenfieber, seth , borknagar, nile, ihsahn and departure chandelier. What a year i think most of us could go on and on about the excellent album releases of 2024. Merry Christmas and all the best for 2025. 🏴
Interesting list Matt! Good mix of sub genres. Some stuff I havent heard at all. Until #2 I didnt have any of the same records in my top 10 list. I can tell based on your #2 and others in your list that you appreciate good quality playing I think. I just got the Oxygen Destroyer on CD last week so too late to make my top 10. Great album tho. And of course I played the new Priest album to death last year but I left it for my hon. mentions. Both the new Fulci and Undeath made my top 12. Cheers man and happy holidays!
This was an awesome list! Even though I haven’t heard all these records, it’s much better than a lot of Top 10 lists I’ve seen/read. SPELL SHOCK was one of my most anticipated albums of the year, and it did not disappoint! And thanks to you, I fell in love with that Mother of Graves album. In fact, the vinyl will be arriving on my doorstep this afternoon! I keep forgetting to check out Grand Magus, so I really need to make time for a deep dive into their stuff. It is right up my alley. I’m not doing a Top 10 video, myself. I feel like since everyone is doing that, I’d rather just share all the new albums I bought on a physical format in 2024. It’ll be a two-parter, which the second half dedicated to all the reissues I bought (which ended being more than planned, hence the need for a Part 2.) That being said, if I did do a list, Judas Priest, Mother of Graves, Blood Incantation, Bewitcher, and Midnight would be on it.

i dunno man -- while it's true i don't have the deep knowledge of all these albums, to not even mention the impact of Opeth's Last Will and Testament is both a dis-service to the metal community and a for me sinks your credibility to 0; it's fine if it doesn't make your list or even an honorable mention - but to ignore it in a video that purports to represent metal is as ridiculous as ignoring a Priest or Maiden album -- get a grip!

I'll check out the Black Dahlia Murder and Judas Priest. I saw BDM open up for Cannibal Corpse at Foufounes in '04 and it was memorable.
