Mario is so much fun in Ultimate. I played a Byleth last night that was recovering low to avoid flood and I went deep to cape him. He salty suicided the next stock. Pretty fun cheese you can do with Mario.

Recently I have been practicing with high/top tiers such as Mario. I came up with an annoying as crap combo good for 0 to 10 percent and tacks on 51.3 percent. first you up tilt four times. then, you grab the opponent. up throw and get in two up airs. you: what's next? Mario *as a demon begins to posses him* : FORWARD ARIEL FORWARD ARIEL FORWARD ARIEL FORWARD ARIEL
I just played against a samus and I thought that Cape was a reflector? Every time I tried to do it and the projectiles hit me and I just thought it was a reflector?
I know this might sound stupid but does anyone have advice on when to grab? I know it seems like a super noob question but against like button mashers it’s hard to run up grab.. or do you mostly just use it to punish. I’m asking because it seems like with Mario that’s a lot of his strategy. Grab and combo.
One situation that happens really often is when you're shielding and the opponent either dash attacks you and doesn't go behind you, or does an aerial too close to you. You can grab out of shield if they're close enough. Otherwise, it could be used to punish people who throw out laggy moves like some smash attacks (just dash in and grab after the attack is over, while they're stuck in endlag, but depending on the situation you could also dash attack or smash attack). Or when you notice someone is shielding, you can just throw out a grab and hope you catch them, but you have to read that they'll continue shielding which is a whole other topic. If someone is button mashing specifically, they probably throw out a lot of laggy moves, so identify them and punish.
For me I generally break down when to grab into 2 different categories. The first being grab confirms. If you buffer fireball and land on the opponent you can nair before you hit the ground. If these 2 things connect at low percents then thats a free inescapable grab. Once Nair puts people in tumble it doesn't work anymore tho. Another one may not exactly be true but it works pretty well for me anyway is at low-mid percents bair to turnaround/dash grab. It may or may not be true im not really sure but it works 9 times out of 10 for me. the second category is to punish. If someone misspaces an aerial and doesn't fast fall it by which it is then deemed unsafe I shield grab and do combos off that. This also works when people dash attack my shield or like a Ganon does down b into my shield or whatever. Another thing you can do is that if someone never does anything unsafe you can condition them to shield after doing there safe thing by doing an aerial or up b or u smash out of shield. Then when they attack and expect an attack and shield you can just run up and grab. OR (last thing I promise) you can fake them out by making them think you're going to do a bair by doing just a bunch of empty pressure (jumping in place with your back turned) and then instead of doing a bair after you see them shield you fast fall land and turnaround grab. This concludes my thought process on when to grab lol hope anyone who read this found it helpful

This a million times. Does anyone have some true combos I can practise on greninja specifically? Or maybe his weight class? He's lightweight but I really can't chain up airs for some reason because he can always air-dodge them. Am I doing it wrong or is it just not a true combo?
So the key to using grounded combos is falling downwards while using air attacks. Thx man! However, I find that my main issue is that I use my F-air too often because I’m js tryna hit my opponent. How do I consistently decide when I use my B-air vs my F-air at the drop of a hat? (With little to no setup).
I’m going to assume you mean jumping fast enough after the down air, not jumping in general. If that’s the problem, just hold x or y when the move is about to end, and that should make Mario jump the first frame that he can. While I’m at it, after the down air don’t immediately forward air, because you’ll miss by just a hair.
This is a combo that I found on my own. I don’t think anyone else has found it yet so I’ll share it. How do you control where you're going while angling the joystick in different directions to choose which attack you're using? These qs are probably obvious, but any help is appreciated :)
Hey thanks for asking. So short hops are only from the ground, the thing is that I'm doing the up airs immediately one after another, so if you HOLD up + A while one up air is already happening, it'll queue up the attack the next possible frame. As for moving I'm dashing forward and then jumping, so it uses that forward momentum to keep going. I made an entire movement tutorial that might be helpful for you? @@yigaelvidz6869 Oh wait, I’m an idiot, the full thing wouldn’t be true, the forward air really just depends on if you can read your opponent. Sorry for the confusion.
Not a silly question, don't worry. A true/real combo means characters can't airdoge or shield or escape the combo while it's happening, provided you're doing the combo correctly that is. A "fake" combo is just moves that look like they could connect but only work sometimes or if your opponent is able to escape
no, string implies that you're reading air dodges and punishing attacks. but your opponent is just getting hit constantly. combo implies that no matter what button your opponent presses on their controller, your attack sequence will occur.
Double BAir -> Side Tilt off the edge into a yeeting FAir when they're not expecting it is always satisfying. Also string 2 or 3 Double BAirs to make it even more disrespectful

I main mario but I use a pro controller and do you recommend any types of good gamecube controllers?
You can down throw to up tilt certian characters
Up throw, fair, fair, fast fall, up tilt (if heavy they will fall enough to get back on the ground and tech), up air, up air, and the to either fair or up B.
Almost none of that is true
Good combos but I prefer to start combos with up-tilt
I'm a Cloud Main. Can you show some combos with him?
He dosnt have many, but his fair/bair links into crosslash at low percents, and down tilt/uptilt combo into up air
@@memeburgler187 Down throw into cross slash still work?
@@shionwandering no, but it can be used as a mix up
@@memeburgler187 Who do you main?
@@shionwandering I play half the roster, but my most played is probably tied with cloud and corrin
That's why Mario's a top tier 🍷🗿
Oh look my Sm4sh main 😟
Can we get a quick one of these for falcon?
I can't hit the falling up air. Any tips?
hit up on your cstick, while pressing down on your analog stick!
@@JulesTrades Thanks! That really helps. Can't believe I got a tip from the man himself! 👍
Is down throw to forward air a good combo?
generally your opponent can air dodge out of that one, it's a mix up! if you read the dodge you can punish. if they don't dodge then you spike them.
Are you pressing a jump button + attack or do you just use the right analog stick?
My go to 0 percent is up throw, up tilt, up tilt, short hop up air, back air, dash attack, forward air
Don’t know if its true or not but my opponent never expects it and if you hit the spike it’s a free stock at the beginning of the match
Nice , how do you do the forward air at the end?
@@yigaelvidz6869 Oh wait, I’m an idiot, the full thing wouldn’t be true, the forward air really just depends on if you can read your opponent. Sorry for the confusion.
@@milkysanswifeandgirlfriend2480 ok thanks
Im guessing your good at the game,
Can you give me tips because i lose every single match online
@@yigaelvidz6869 Nah I’m terrible lol, my combo game is good but I suck at playing neutral.
Silly question. I've been watching other combo videos. What does it mean to be a real combo and not a real combo.
Not a silly question, don't worry. A true/real combo means characters can't airdoge or shield or escape the combo while it's happening, provided you're doing the combo correctly that is. A "fake" combo is just moves that look like they could connect but only work sometimes or if your opponent is able to escape
Make a Mewtwo Guide please!
Is stringing the same as comboing?
no, string implies that you're reading air dodges and punishing attacks. but your opponent is just getting hit constantly.
combo implies that no matter what button your opponent presses on their controller, your attack sequence will occur.
Jtails when you say read, you mean recognize the air dodge?
For comboing I understand that as true combos.
Double BAir -> Side Tilt off the edge into a yeeting FAir when they're not expecting it is always satisfying.
Also string 2 or 3 Double BAirs to make it even more disrespectful
So how exactly do you do two backairs after a short hop? God I feel like such a noob.
make sure that you're buffering the short hop rising fair on your way up!
@@JulesTrades OHH that makes sense!
Do you recommend tilt stick for Mario?
It is worth it! After that setting you should use smash attacks with a+b if you enable this option. I find it more comfortable to me. Give it a try!
