Underground in America is better in my opinion because it has the same riffs, kick ass drumming and a sweet solo. This is a reprise of it after all. But yeah, you're right
Air Guitar The Great Southern Trendkill is still heavier, though. Believe it or not, I actually think that song is heavier because of the higher tuning and the speed (and yes, I do know that speed doesn't usually determine the heaviness of metal). I'm not saying that I hate 'Sandblasted Skin' or 'The Underground In America', I'm only stating my honest opinion. If you think the last two tracks on The Great Southern Trendkill are heavier than the rest, I'm totally fine with that, who am I to judge.
The awesome thing with Phil is that he by himself can be considered a gateway to heavier music! His vocal style employs a ton of death and black metal influences, and even down to some of the band tshirts he wears, Discharge, Disrupt, and Venom to name a few. So awesome!
Yeah if one human being embodies metal it would be him. The rest of the band would still be teasing their hair and wearing spandex if not for him. Not to mention he was in several black metal bands in the 90s going under a different name so he didn’t attract pantera fans..when they couldn’t turned mellow and made more money he went basically full death metal and satanic. And he took bands like eyehategod on tour to force feed people metal. And now he’s in another blank metal band. And he wasn’t some weird social outcast who was forced to turn to metal he was a good looking naturally alpha male type of dude. And he used to actually respond to messages I sent to his housecore channel... what a legend
this song on 101 live proof is the most fucking badass song ever!! Nothing comes close...except maybe the live version of primal concrete sledge at dynamo. the heaviness of dimes guitar, VP drumming, and phils screams....no other band comes close in my opinion of sheer brutality and heaviness.
I always stayed away from this album when i was a kid. Don't know why? Never gave it the props it dearves. But my opinion now is that this is their best and most heavy album they made. Riffs are badass! People were saying that Far beyond driven didn't have much solos,do not know why but....people talk shit. But if that was to be truth then this album serves you justice with riffs and solos.
This was the great southern trendkill. Far beyond was awesome when it came out but the expectations we all had was of a vulgar display part 2 😂. That's the cool sht about them. Everyone had their favorites and feel like he one they neglected is awesome now. Pantera was perfection
Cant were or when but i distincly remember a show when dime smoked his stack halfway through this one...or was that "use my third arm" sheesh..couldnt hear shit for months outve my right ear for weeks..
When I see him playing live, he always goes to the back of the stage and then the guitar goes all low. He's not switching guitar's and he's not using the whammy pedal because it's at the front of the stage.
@@juancontreras2711 yeah the main guitars of dimebag were by dean until 94/95, when he signed a deal with washburn and most of his signatures of custom guitars were from washburn, i am from argentina to

Check out my cover to Cowboys From Hell solo !

Even when revered as a God, dimebag is still underrated. Nobody had chug, emotion, chops and riffs like dime. R.i.p. And you'll forever be missed.
if this isn't the most badass song ever, i don't know what is....
the trend is DEEEEEEAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
and gone forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
crowbar - planets collide is roughly the same level of bad ass
ill have to check that out!!
Phil is the number 1 on stage... 100% Badassery
THIS SONG DEFINITELY ONE OF PANTERA'S HEAVIEST SONGS EVER!!!!

death rattle is also heavy af and suicide note pt2 is pure fuckin testosterone and adrenaline translated into sound
@@fansee1368 korn and meshuggah came out before this
suicide note pt 2 is the heaviest imo
@@billrobertjoe Lol what does that have to do with anything.

Said it all mate...there will never exist something heavier than this.
3:27
That's the heaviest thing I've ever heard
TRUTH
May God Bless All ah ya
The undisputed kings. This track is still heavier than the shit that comes out this days. How they did it in 96 is beyond me.
R.I.P Dimebag \m/

PanterA the Best Metal Band of the 90's...\m/
R.I.P Dimebag Darrell & Vinnie Paul...
The most perfectly and extreme band at the same time. Nobody before and after mixed everything right like this. Bless you, guys.
Trends were never the same after this…
I was at this Show!!!! I brought a disposable camera. Thank Fuckin God you brought your Video Camera cheers brother!!

nikt tak kurwa nie gral i nikt juz nie bedzie gral...
Dokladnie tak. Odkąd ich usłyszalem mając 8 lat po dzis dzien jest to mój zespół nr 1.
Co racja, to racja.
Thats fuckin right
Agreed. Phil Anselmo and Mike Patton had the "Skrillex" hairstyle back in the early 90's.
I think phil called it the boston look
Did Dime tune down his guitar down or use the whammy pedal to get the lower octave?
PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME!
I've also been wondering this!
When I see him playing live, he always goes to the back of the stage and then the guitar goes all low. He's not switching guitar's and he's not using the whammy pedal because it's at the front of the stage.
Down tuning I think
Look at the "How to tune to Sandblasted Skin" video, the guy found the good tuning it's fuckin amazing
Thanks dude! Watched the video. It's perfect!
Tuning for this is (low to high) G(down a step from 5th string)GCFAD. it's the only song Dime used a fixed bridge for as well
Pantera was so djent before djent was even a thing. Imagine old Pantera and Meshuggah did a tour 😱
the guitar of dimebag is awesome, what is the name of the guitar? pls
It's a Dean ML. But his was nicknamed the Dean From Hell.
@@sharkboi4265 no it’s not. He is using his Washburn snakeskin guitar which was made just for playing this song live
Hey, greetings from Argentina, you know all the story of Dean and Washburn with Dime?? if so, can you tell me?

Ehh amigo que capo jajaj, gracias por responderme la duda, viste lo que están aca las guitarras ML??
My kids don't like Pantera so I sold them at the dollar store.
Phil Anselmo.... The first man to don the 'Skrillex' hair style :3
Fun fact: Dimebag knew how to make ladies drop the G-string! 😏
Hell yeah I get what ya mean. That detuned 6th string

The trend is dead x3

more like skrillex copied their hair style
Stole the breakdown riff from Hendrix
What Hendrix riff? I don’t hear anything that resembles

Oh wow I can see a resemblance. The context is completely different though 😂
