I play the Charioteer like a British Hellcat and flank around the edges of the map to shoot tanks in the side. I use it in my 6.7 lineup and if it’s a big map I’ll use it as my first spawn or you can take it out later in the battle and it works great to mop up spread out vehicles or cap points. Don’t stop to shoot if the enemy is looking at you and when you do stop pivot sideways or pull a 180 so you can get away quickly after firing. If your not sure you can get away before the enemies react pop smoke right before you fire the wide smoke screen is great for covering your escape.
I'd like to add that the 6.7 lineup is quite expensive to repair. Also the armor is rendered useless by heat-fs in uptiers or when facing Ru-251. So for grinding SL, I would recommend the 4.7/5.0 lineup or playing Air.

Kottery I typically come out positive myself. I run the Wyvern also (it is awesome in GF) but don’t always use it. I seem to make money with the Tortoise because it takes so many hits
I agree with all except the Centurion Mk1. I feel it's an amazing tank, personally that is. I was able to research ALL it's upgrades in a single afternoon after getting the tank! It's armor isn't perfect, but it's good enough that I bounce a lot of shots. That cannon amazingly goes through the front of Panthers with the SABOT. I play this when it got bumped to 6.0. And dear lord, is this thing effective sometimes. You can generally have at least one or two kills, but sometimes I’ve gone on anywhere from 5-9 kill rampages, pulling off 3 against 1s and flanking anything. Punching through panthers, tigers, and jumbos with no problem, and just hiding away with the wonderful reverse speed. I also think it’s a wonderful tank when used properly, because damn is it fun to just unexist anything.

Bit late but if anyone is interested, the centurion 1 and charioteer are actually both at 5.7 in Arcade. So if you play/don’t mind arcade and want to grind them, they actually form quite a decent lineup in Arcade battles (with either comet or challenger as a backup). I’d say the cent 1 performs extremely well at 5.7 and the extra mobility in arcade makes it really fun and it isn’t worth missing out on
Seeing the Tortoise part of the vid, I remember facing you playing the Maus against my T-54 47, and I was impressed by your armour management. I found the slow and powerful tanks mostly awful because I couldn´t be asked the stock grind while you feel that you miss all the fighting early game
I saw a Maus one time! I'm really just a lowtier player (I love my USA 2.7, and 3.7, as well as German 1.3, 2.7, and 3.7. plus lowtier Russian and such) but anyways I feel like everyone at higher tiers has such great stories of having fought or been on the team of RUclipsrs and other special people as well as more crazy stories.
They need to add the version of the cent mk1 with the 20mm coax. They excused not adding it before by saying it had no use in game, but since then have added french tanks with 20mm coax and they prove great at taking out guns or AA. Would give the mk1 a use again at it's BR.

Love seeing these videos! I just spent two days spading the damn Firecrest, so I'm not a huge fan of Britain at the moment, but I'm looking forward to 6.7 one day.
Heh. Firecrest is much more fun now that it's at 3.3. It being at 4.0 sucked because its big advantage (in my opinion), the speed, wasn't great there, and it would get chased down and ripped to shreds by 190s and 109fs. Now, it can blow a pz 4 f2 to kingdom come then bugger out or bully a stuka or something. Much more enjoyable.
10:50 is the sweet spot shot, you disable his ability to point his gun at you and disable his mobility at the same time, effectively making it an easy 2shot kill.
@@nikolabegonja5490 highly disagree... i played many RB battles with my spaded pt-76 and the stab is disgustingly powerful againts tigers and wobling panthers
The Crusader AA Mk1 actually has a 14.3mm behind the outer 14mm, however for some reason it is structural steel, which doesn't show if you have unticked "Show external armor". You can see this plate if you have a custom hangar that lets you move the camera below the tank.
After the new Britain Nerfs if you're wondering what's changed, basically when he talks about the 20-pounder and says something along the lines of 'you'll have no trouble penetrating most tanks, so you don't always need to use APDS' replace that thinking with 'now, you always have to use APDS as facing tanks which frontally can be easily penetrated with the AP round will be a relatively rare occurrence'. TL:DR- when using any British tank with the 20 pounder with AP/APDS as a consequence of the nerf you no longer have the luxury of being able to main the AP round with a few APDS for heavier targets. APDS is now a must.
I got the Prince along with the other three Brits when the line was introduced. As you said, to begin with it was just damn unkillable while being able to take down anything. I still love the thing to death, still play it regularly. However, to my point; what you forgot to mention in the 'Pro' list, the Prince is without doubt the best looking tank in the game, and being so slow you get lottsa time to just eyeball it while you're heading into battle.
Personally, apperently this is an unpopular opinion, but I think the M4A3 (76) looks absolutely sublime. Some stars on the hull sides and turret and mmmm that's a good looking tank
Sorry but I need to defend the Centurion Mk1 real quick. Yes, it has no real line-up and yes it isn‘t the most well armoured tank or the fastest or the most well armed, but for me it has been far more enjoyable than any other British tank at ranks 3 and 4. I even use it to grind out rank 5 vehicles. If you get a 5.7 match, which does happen more frequently than you‘d expect, you can definitely play quite confidently with it and in most cases it won‘t let you down, even at 6.7. Anyone who reads this: Don‘t avoid this tank! Instead play it and enjoy the fact that you won‘t be killed whilst still trying to move into the battlefield like in the Centurion Mk.3 and that being killed early won‘t mean an overall loss in SL. Get it!
I agree with you, especially that reverse gear is so refreshing compared to a long grind with tanks that can go faster in reverse by pushing them with your bare hands and it is a good learning curve for future versions of the Centurion
oxy, i hate to say it, but the charioteer is THE MOST underrated TD from 6.0-6.7, i got it as my second british rank 4, and i was SUPER succesful with it, it really is a great tank, and i think that people lay to much hate on it.
I've found the most reliable way to kill king tigers and Panthers is to shoot the turret cheeks. The sheer amount of explosives in the shell often leads to shrapnel penning the hull roof and damaging the driver's or setting off ammo. Even if you don't get the one-shot, you're going to disable most of the turret, meaning the tank isn't a threat for a while, often long enough for the Nigels to load another bomb into the gun. I also got a glorious kill on a T34 in a squadroon battle, by firing over a hill to hit the cupola/roof, with all the spalling going down into the tank angled towards the driver. I was feeling my oats after that.
Really good video, Really helpful as I'm getting to 6.7 Britain now. I would also like to add a couple of points from my limited experience with them. 1) Gun Depression - It has a major impact on gameplay especially when using a stabilised gun. The Centurion Family of Vehicles (FoV) all have -10. This in my experience is a phenomenal amount of gun depression for a realtively low profile vehicle. This allows you to poke most ridges, fire, and withdraw before your target even finds you (barring gun debris), then pop up somewhere else slightly different and re-engage. Their elevation isn't bad either at +20. Both are Well in excess of the Russians and better than most other nations. 2) Premium tanks - I understand your logic behind not recommending the Strv 81 from an RP Grind perspective but to me it's more about the increased Lions generated. Talismans only affect RP gain and not Lions generated correct? I find I can research line ups far faster than I can generate the Lions to pay for them. That is If I'm focusing on progression rather than just playing 4.0 Germans for fun.
HOOOooold up, "the comet struggles at the higher Br's" i don't think so, I've taken that thing into 6.7s and its held its own, if anything i call it the British Hellcat, it can pen almost anything but almost anything can pen you
I ground out 2/3 of the British tree with the Strv 81. British 6.7 lineup is my happy place. The ATGM's are a bit difficult to use. Very situational. I use them to knock out stationary targets at long range. Make sure that what you're aiming at doesn't see you. Great machine. The problem with talisman is that it doesn't give SL boost of premium vehicles so putting it onto a vehicle doesn't make it same as a premium.
Gotta talk about pricing at this tier, the Britain tanks at this tier are 2x and 3x more than any other nation. If you are an average player you practically lose money every round even with premium. On the Cent mk3 being about 9k to repair and FV2402 and the Caernarvon being 12k to repair. I had to go back to German tanks just to make any kind of money
The fv4202 to me holds a special place in my heart. My first br 7 and got a talisman on it. I mastered the hull down sniping positions and got a 3.2k/d with it WHILE 90% of the vehicles i own, i have a .8k/d. ( just to say im a bad player ). But this guy, for some reason was put in the game for me and i still take it out weekly even in my 8.7 lineup
The 183mm HESH can hull break vehicles with an indirect hit, i've killed BMPs, USHs, and some of those italian cars with near misses. Heck, one time i bounced a shell off the floor plate of a FIAT only to hull break it from the explosion when it hit a rock nearby. just a ludicrous boomstick. Probably my happiest war thunder moment was getting first strike with the FV4005 on a moving T-34 100mm across the map on the big version of eastern europe. eyeballed it and fired away to be rewarded with a miracle hit
you are completely right regarding the 4005 part dying in Cent mk3 right at the start , then in Caernavon ... gets pretty frustrating RNG BS moments add up to the frustration but i can die 50 times in the 4005 and just laugh about it it is therapeutical indeed ... and because it's so relaxing to play, i usually do better in the 4005 than the others simply because i'm more chill last time i nuked an R3 car with it and both me and the guy laughed at the abominable overkill surprisingly, the lower shell velocity is an advantage at low-medium ranges because it allows you to dip shots this +7 degrees of gun depression + the gun being so high up means you can nuke people while being completely behind cover actually thinking of betting the AVRE it's like the 4005 but with good armor but even lower shell velocity tough to use in RB ...but magical in AB
Couldn't agree more. I had a bad shot on the front of a panther once, to my surprise that SABOT went through it's front plate and out the back of the tank. I couldn't believe it.
kissHUN Nothing more satisfying than taking a steamy dump on an IS 2, 1.5 km away on Kursk :). However I do prefer the 20 pounders because of the larger diameter and stabilisation while more often than not being placed into 5.7. However the Cent 1 was my favourite to grind with and I got my Tier IV’s with it very fast.
Nordic Beast Yeah just be very careful with aim. Not sure how new you are to British but always aim for “lines” of crew, for example the T-54 has 3/4 of all its crew in one line. Meaning a good shot into the right side of the tank will kill it. However if you struggle always aim ammo or permanent fire.
The Black Prince is great if you want to sit out in an open field and not die. Yeah a lot of things can go through its front hull and turret now, but if you angle... oh boy if you angle. HEAT is pretty much the only thing that can kill you. I've sat in the cap circle taking fire from two Tigers, a Panther, an IS-2 and a T-54, and just none of them could get through my armor. Kept knocking out the gun and tracks though so I couldn't do anything except wait to be bombed...which of course I was, and I lived through it, because the Black Prince has more weight in armor than most tanks have weight.
While the charioteer isn't all that good compared to it's other tier 4 counterparts, there is one thing that I think you missed about it. In arcade, it's 5.7, which means you can use it with the centurion mk1 and the black prince if you don't mind uptiering yourself to 6.0. It's hilarious using 285mm pen sabot against 4.7's - not to mention the solid shot will go right through them too. As for the Black Prince, I have one myself and you're right; most of the time it isn't all that effective. However one cool thing about the Black Prince is that the sabot is very cheap which means that you can main sabot and still make tons of money with it. it sits in weird spot at 6.0; if you get downtiered you usually do quite well but in an uptier you get wrecked.
there is a reason to get the Centurion Mk 1: To annoy the hell out of early Panthers. The amount of times I've killed Panthers by getting in their face and ramming the 17pdr in their turret is hilarious and always fun, because they always try to shoot the hull, but more often then not it bounces. That and the 12 degrees of depression and trolly turret armor makes the Centurion 1 really awesome at ridge sniping.
@@erichvonmanstein1952 The Centurion 1's armor is 76.2 degrees angled at 55 degrees, which gives it equivalent to 135-128mm. The Panther's standard AP shell does have 192mm of penetration, however, that's only at 0 degrees, they start to loose alot of penetration past the 30 degrees mark, even at close range, making it closer to 110-90mm of penetration. This doesn't mean there's no penetration, just the chance is low. However, it should be noted that the chance does increase the lower the panther aims.
The charioteer is just a solid flanker and a cheap tank that you can sacrifice to push the enemy back with. Like, the fully spaded charioteer only cost 2300 SL while other British vehicles that have 20 pounder would cost 4x - 5x more. It's a vehicle that you cannot skip if you are planning to grind the British tech tree without spending real money on it. The brits don't really have a high survivability vehicle anyway. Every single one of them have the same problem. Big target, slow-moving, free food for german's planes, and died in one shot by everything that have explosive mass. May as well trade all of the armor for some top speed.
Interesting video, great series. I have been playing British 6.7 a lot recently, my latest line up being STRV 81, FV4204, Caernarvon, Centurion Mk.3 (plus Typhoon, I do not have any other suitable airplane...) and in general I concur with the Oxy. I agree with the evaluation of the Caernarvon as being the most universal vehicle. My favorite is however FV4202 - I like the mobility and best hull down performance. Mobility of the FV4202 is the only information from the video I would really disagree with. Apart from the reverse speed, which is terrible, it is the most mobile tank in the tank line up (excluding the Charioteer). Top speed is the same, but the power to weight ratio is much higher giving it better acceleration, turning, as well as climbing speed. In my experience, it is really nimble vehicle. One comment ont the STRV - it has the best firepower. The missiles are a bit situational, especially as they will overshoot close targets and as they are almost impossible to guide at moving targets. However 1. you do not need to guide them to shoot stationary targets - the combined guiding mentioned in the video makes it fairly easy to hit stationary vehicles. Just aim at the target, launch the missile and do nothing. At mid ranges it is generally reliable. 2. you can fire the missile immediately after you have fired your gun. This makes it a great second strike weapon - have you just hit a King tiger and you missed the ammo rack and just it ruined its engine? Instead of waiting who wins - whether his turret traverse or your loader - you can immediately launch the missile. This works best at mid ranges. 3. Missiles do not need loader, so in case he is knocked out, you can use the missiles in the mean time. 4. final point is, that missiles have quite significant fear factor. Sometimes (when you are immobilized) it is worth it to shoot a missile, people tend to try to hide, instead of shooting you for second time.
I think the term you were looking for - when describing what having a stabilizer means when nobody else has one - is "completely fucking overpowered and I hate it from the very bottom of my heart". Or maybe that's just me... ...being shit at tanks... ...and Cents having been the bane of my existence for far too long. XD
Coming back to this in danger zone, man. You basically don't get another full lineup after 4.7 all the way up to 7.0, maybe 6.0 if you've got the Black Prince, but that's a big if AND you're running the Ratel 90 + Cent Mk1 alongside it as it's only friends. You could throw in the Charioteer, but you could also not want to deal with Marders and BMPs.
6.0 Britain without Black Prince is one of my favorite lineups in the game. Ratel 90 Centurion Mk 1 Comet Crusader Mk 2 AA Hornet Mk 3 Tempest Mk 5 You definitely don't need the Black Prince, and the Comet is fine enough at 6.0. The Ratel, Cent, and planes means I rarely have to bring it out anyways.
Id say the cent 1 is actually one of the best tanks at the tier. It doesn't fight ATGM's, it can hull pen Panthers and Tiger 1's and will kill the gunner and driver if you aim to their left your right. Its armour, while not too reliable, easily bounces medium 88's and sometimes extra long 75's. I used it to grind the FV 4202, Cent mk 3, tortoise, charioteer, Crusader AA Mk 1 and the Caernarvon. Its fun to finaly be able to point and click at tanks like German tanks are able to do past 5.3. I can usually get like 3 kills before dying to a turret cheek shot or a Long 88.
i disagree with ur opinion on the cent 1’s armor and the effectiveness of a 5.7 lineup........it’s actually quite effective when angled...similar to the tiger 1 and the hull is basically as effective as the panther’s hull.....not to mention 12* of gun depression that, when used gives the turret a good slope the combination of a comet and a cent is a force to reckon with.....as the the comet acts as a mobile medium and the cent as a heavy tank.....now add the avenger as a TD and u got a great line up with very good air support (tempests and mk18 spits are great CAS)
Thank you very much! I'm grinding this tree and needed the info. I'm quite surprised that everyone hates the tanks above 6.7 , seems is a waste of time to grind this :/
FUN, that's the most important thing.. i've been message by my enemy for using this tank and them being better than me.. well, i just tell them to grow up and just have some.. you take the game way too seriously.. that usually shuts them up..
I find the Cent Mk 1 fun. I've been playing it the first couple of days after researching it and it was rough to play at first it's quite enjoyable clappin some german boys.
I use the ATGMs on the Strv to hit things on the other side of slopes. You can arc them over slopes your on quite easily. Or as quick follow up shots if you fail to disable your enemy in closer fighting.

God damn, now the cent 3 and caenarvon sit a whole BR above, at 7.7.
Tier 5 is gonna be fun to see
5th tier is good but the chieftains after that.
REPAIR COSTS got me depressed
Great content and work mate . I really love how detail explain different aspects and the small talks about fun and detox are so true which make your work to shy even more and your calm voice help me with detoxing between games for sure . Cheers and stay safe mate .
@@an_f-14_tomcat good thing it's at 2.3 now lol
@@pav6759 lmao
10:50 is the sweet spot shot, you disable his ability to point his gun at you and disable his mobility at the same time, effectively making it an easy 2shot kill.
2 plane stabilizer at 6.7 when others get it at 8.0+ is nasty.
or at 5.3 aint that right.
looking at you pt 76
@@eukalyptusbonbon2983 the pt76 is too slow, the stab makes it barely useable.
@@nikolabegonja5490 highly disagree... i played many RB battles with my spaded pt-76 and the stab is disgustingly powerful againts tigers and wobling panthers
imo the stabilizer is helpful, but not crucial. T-54 entire 1.0 BR higher doesn't have stab and is much better than centurion mk 3 or even mk 10.
@@0kisshun0 it is, once you get the heat, but it's lack of mobility as a light tank is a huge drawback
Tfw all 6.7 tanks here are now 7.3
Yeah, this video is very outdated now and there really arent any good British lineups from 4.7 to 7.3 which really sucks.
The cool thing about tier IV British is the three TDs offer very different and fun play styles
APDS is now a must.
oh yeah and the 'great hull down protection' enjoyed by the FV4202 and centurions is no longer common. Get used to Whack-a-moleing.
18:44 oxy you watch Binyot??
I used the charioteer in a 6.7 lineup together with my FV4202 before I had the other 6.7s
That camera shot on the tortoise with the panning out was great, nice review
Amazing video as always! They're just so well structured and relaxing. Gotta say I'm really excited for your analysis of the German tree 😊
My god you know the brits are shafted if having a reverse gear LIKE EVERY SINGLE OTHER TREE HAS is an afvantage
Awesome job!! I enjoy the hell out of your presentations and style!!! Keep them coming!!!
Yes the Cent Mk3 does around my playstyle very well
My playstyle being dying everytime i spawn into a god damn game by a moving bush
Came here for a break from watching old Binny streams, I'm stuck in a loop
The cent 1s turret armour was reduced from 152 to its current levels which is why it feels so different!
can we get an f for british line up at 7.3
I got the Prince along with the other three Brits when the line was introduced.
25:50 - Absolutely piss-boiling.
Fantastic format for reviewing vehicles and lineups
I nut when I see that there is more stock in the shop tbh. Just bought Rolls Royce engine advert.
I died at the Vinesauce sPiN !
oxy, i hate to say it, but the charioteer is THE MOST underrated TD from 6.0-6.7, i got it as my second british rank 4, and i was SUPER succesful with it, it really is a great tank, and i think that people lay to much hate on it.
I was feeling my oats after that.
thanks Oxy, awesome vid as usual
That last big brain play with that friendly tank was epic 😂😅
HOOOooold up, "the comet struggles at the higher Br's" i don't think so, I've taken that thing into 6.7s and its held its own, if anything i call it the British Hellcat, it can pen almost anything but almost anything can pen you
Daniel Limach Well it being a glass cannon is not a bad thing. The same thing can be said for the panzer4 f2.Taking it up a tier is not a problem
Anything with reasonable speed with a high velocity 75mm or equivalent gun seems to be useable in higher tier
Great guide Oxy! Good luck with the wiki stuff and the new vehicles, I'd love to see some pages get more stats i.e Stock and Upgraded.
Probably my happiest war thunder moment was getting first strike with the FV4005 on a moving T-34 100mm across the map on the big version of eastern europe. eyeballed it and fired away to be rewarded with a miracle hit
you are completely right regarding the 4005 part
dying in Cent mk3 right at the start , then in Caernavon ... gets pretty frustrating
RNG BS moments add up to the frustration
but i can die 50 times in the 4005 and just laugh about it
it is therapeutical indeed ... and because it's so relaxing to play, i usually do better in the 4005 than the others simply because i'm more chill
last time i nuked an R3 car with it and both me and the guy laughed at the abominable overkill
surprisingly, the lower shell velocity is an advantage at low-medium ranges because it allows you to dip shots
this +7 degrees of gun depression + the gun being so high up means you can nuke people while being completely behind cover
actually thinking of betting the AVRE
it's like the 4005 but with good armor but even lower shell velocity
tough to use in RB ...but magical in AB
Now that the second and third tanks you talk about are 7.7 and 7.3 respectively... they are so underpowered for this tier.
still can't believe you recommended fv4005 over cent mk 1
Personally I go with Cent 1,Comet and the Crusader AA. Cent 1 is amazing with sabot and I rarely die using it. Do not skip this tank!
yepp... cent 1 with apds is lolpenning the kv-1 and tiger panther tanks all day in all ranges....
However if you struggle always aim ammo or permanent fire.
and every one can see it at the end of review of every tank, when u give your judgement
Repair Cost: Allow me to introduce myself
Just found this series and love it! Can't wait for the german tree if you decide to do them.
The cent 1 is also great at depression fire due to its rather troly turret
Also not many 5,7 have more than 200 pen
there is a reason to get the Centurion Mk 1: To annoy the hell out of early Panthers.
How the hell are they bounces despite 192mm of Panther,it must penetrate easily at close ranges.
XD
👍. These are the best reviews on vehicles. I know it takes a lot of time to do these. Would u be able to do updates of these please?
Great video again!
Ratel 90
Centurion Mk 1
Comet
Crusader Mk 2 AA
Hornet Mk 3
Tempest Mk 5
You definitely don't need the Black Prince, and the Comet is fine enough at 6.0. The Ratel, Cent, and planes means I rarely have to bring it out anyways.
early rank 4 makes me want to commit war crimes
Strange that i unlock Teir 4 Brits when this video gets released - Very helpful thank you!
i disagree with ur opinion on the cent 1’s armor and the effectiveness of a 5.7 lineup........it’s actually quite effective when angled...similar to the tiger 1 and the hull is basically as effective as the panther’s hull.....not to mention 12* of gun depression that, when used gives the turret a good slope
the combination of a comet and a cent is a force to reckon with.....as the the comet acts as a mobile medium and the cent as a heavy tank.....now add the avenger as a TD and u got a great line up with very good air support (tempests and mk18 spits are great CAS)
it also does realy well in uptiers compared to 6,7 in 7,7
love to see this updated
"It's the only vehicle at 5.7" -on the Cent Mk. 1
Current War Thunder Players: Hahahhaa... haha... ha... yeah....
The charioteer is my favourite tank in the game the gun is truly amazing
Well, this aged badly.
the fv4202 can be very effective brawler thanks to the stabilizer. at 6.7 and 5.7 make sure you use the stock ap round and you will usually one shot
I am not sure why I watch War Thunder content, I am not even playing that game anymore since ages haha
It's fun to imagine playing but in practice very frustrating
Probably should mention that 6.7 will be constant uptiers that render pretty much all of your advantages, minus the stabiliser, almost totally null.
The 4202 is fine in uptiers
Oxy moderating the wiki? Can't think of a better person for this, good luck and thanks!
oxy: comet struggles
me: well i dont ....
Thank you very much! I'm grinding this tree and needed the info.
I'm quite surprised that everyone hates the tanks above 6.7 , seems is a waste of time to grind this :/
Britains top tier isnt unusable its just not very meta there is something oddly satisfying about playing them but also quute frustrating
FUN, that's the most important thing.. i've been message by my enemy for using this tank and them being better than me.. well, i just tell them to grow up and just have some.. you take the game way too seriously.. that usually shuts them up..
killing leopards 1 with the crusader mk2 is so satisifying ^^
the crusader aa mk 1 didnt age well
I remember one custom match against friends, I took out 2 leopard 1’s and a shot kal in my comet
Also the tortoise is pretty much invulnerable to artillery shells and it can go very fast in reverse.
