I have a hard time agreeing with not only support hand placement but stance--feet seem way too wide to be sustainable. I also feel the hard gripping of the gun can lead to inaccurate shooting.
In real life they would have on body armor. Infantries around the world train "armor toward target", any other stance presents a soft spot toward the hostile.
Hi not sure if you have found an answer in the last 5 years but my training is based off the Israeli system. The reason is cloae quarters hand to hand fighting. If there is a fight and attacker gets your firearm he will pull the trigger as a first reaction. If you know your weapon chamber is empty you can attack without worrying about first shot. We have trained and tested this extensively and the outcome speaks for itself. If you are skilled in drawing a weapon adding a cocking to the draw will not any substantial time to it. The problem comes in with cowboys on a range that want to look good for Instagram and have never been in an active shooter or close quarters fight with a loaded firearm. We've had this debate many times and I only give my input. It's still the person carrying the firearm that has to decide where their priority lies. Hope that helps. Stay safe
Everyone is saying these guys are wrong and making fun of them like idiots, too bad none of you experts and keyboard warriors in the comments have any balls to even train at all. He's showing a type of technique that doesn't align with the ways you've shot in a range. These guys are professionals and theres different ways to formulate and manage gun handling and techniques. He's not gonna cut his hand on the slide because as he said he's keeping it snug so there's no space in the back. The thumbs don't align parallel, one of the biggest differences I've seen - big deal, I'll admit it I don't shoot with this tech, but there's more than one way to shoot a firearm as well.
@Samuel Iam yeah I guess colonels shoot real enemies with weapons, and keyboard warriors on the internet shoot unarmed people in their dreams they have at night. Good point.
@Samuel Iam a rock (of similar weight) fired from a sling shot has the same energy as a 45ACP handgun. A bullet is just a rock being propelled by gunpowder. So.... If people are throwing rocks at you... You have every right to defend yourself. Shows what you know about combat and weapons.
Samuel Iam - the border 'protests' are just a step up from the invasion tunnels that the PLO and Hamas use to infiltrate Israel and kill its citizens. The 'protesters' are armed and seek to destroy the border fence and invade Israel. They believe they will go to Heaven if they die in the process - a delusion fostered by the imans and madrassas from their earliest years. They use indiscriminate rocket attacks, burning tyres and fire kites - it is not a peaceful protest under any definition. The corruption, incompetence and waste under Hamas leadership is blamed on the Jews and the US. That's why the US is withdrawing funding. Islam is not a religion of peace and never has been. Deceit, denial, deflection. sharia and jihad - the 5 Pillars of Islam.
See .my post at top. I'm sure this "colonel " can kill with his bare hands and I respect that, but the handgun shooting technique he is demonstrating is TERRIBLE and could endanger a shooter in a real self defensive situation.
Lost count of how many times the instructor positioned him self in front of the fire arm. And with enough practice. You should know exactly when that round leaves the barrel.
Colonel Sharon Gat, I am curious as to the shooting stance. Wouldn't facing the target as your method demonstrates give the target a larger "center mass" profile in terms of return fire? As a former police officer I was trained to stand left shoulder facing the target so as to give the target the smallest profile for return fire. Please do not misunderstand. I respect your methods. I am simply trying to reconcile the two schools of thought. Thank you.
interesting grip... would be curious to try it... would like to see side by side comparison in high speed camera against the "normal" double hand grip.
I'm old enough to remember when the FBI first developed this point-and-shoot method and between the late 1940s and late 1960s everyone used this method (except maybe once a month when you had to "qualify") and lots of us still use it. Point. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Yikes, that looks like such an unnatural position and grip I can’t imagine that being efficient and useful. Looks more like a pose to try to look like a badass. Thumbs up and holding the pistol “as hard as you can” do not make for an accurate shooting form.
Hi Vince, we actually do have a firearms training seminar coming up in San Diego, CA. You're welcome to email us for more information: marketing@caliber-3.com. We are also open to running workshops in other parts of the country if there is a large enough group of people.
Why Vince...it's a terrible technique they use. So slow it's frightening. Great stance if you want to dump in your pants or get your wedding bits shot off! Go to Saurez or Ayoob if you want to learn properly . Sadly Chuck Taylor is no longer with us.
You should face your body armor towards the immediate threat, and stabilize yourself for recoil management. If that's what you meant, then yes ... yes, you should. Jackass.
Now you are masters of pointing. Next step is to pull the trigger and try to hit target. Maybe this experience turn you back to find next new method. Let´s the force be with you :-)
Sorry! They might not be doing everything the way I've been taught to do it in the past but, when you look at their record, I'm not about to question Israelis regarding their counter-terrorism training or their abilities with a firearm of any type.
Well maybe you should. Stupid wide and time wasting stances for one. Why do.people get all.moist when it has an Israeli label? They carry unlosded because they cannot be trusted to do otherwise due to the number of ND'S they have. Some of this is a recipe for losing.
But their "fights" are with unarmed Palestinian children, and then the chicken shit tactics like when they attacked the USS Liberty, also shooting those in lifeboats (a war crime by the way), or violating another country's air space to bomb yet another country and fly off in yet another act of chicken shittery.
His thumbs might be too close to the slide potentially causing a failure to feed or eject. I like that the the grip is high up as you can get it, but his body can't swivel as much as you would need to in a combat situation effectively. No Beretta Model 71 anymore?
I carry a J frame in a pocket holster. I try not to go into area's where I might have to use it. If I perceive a threat. I can put my hand on the gun and still look a guy playing pocket pool. If I was in Israel, I would be carrying a semi auto and seriously considering what this guy is talking about.
That and the feet are too wide. You would have to totally reposition your body and lose sight picture to advance, retreat or move to the side. That weak hand position. On the gun is unnatural, puts stress on the wrist and does not allow you to get full purchase on the handgun. I know he is a colonel in the army, at least claims to be, but you can do d plenty of ex military that give bad advice online
Tom Hall are you implying that a thrown stone can't cause serious harm? My marine friend said the kids slung rocks so hard they almost broke the bullet proof glass on their vehicles.
the wrap-around with cross thumb is the original way to hold a handgun as was taught before by Col. Jeff Cooper but, I think, the advent of competitive practical shooting evolved a modified way of holding handgun with the left and right thumbs lying on tandem and pointing down range- no more the thumbs crossing each other. The cross-thumb is also what I learned in holding revolvers; while in pistols the thumbs is lying on tandem with each other and the strong hand thumb pressing down as leverage the thumb safety for the 1911 which, I guess, is the gun where the wrap-around technique of gripping a pistol was applied.
The main point of this grip l believe is that having a fist punching style grip, prevents the gun from being ripped out or taken from you in a close quarters situation in comparison to using the two thumbs forward grip.
Dragilav1 Close quarters fight TING.LOOK AT THE SITUATION THE LAST THING YOU WANT IS FOR SOME DOPED UP DIPPER HEAD TO KNOCK YOUR WEAPON OUT OF YOUR HAND. THIS IS GOOD BUT YOU MIGHT GET A PINCHED THUMB IF YOU DON'T KEEP A TIGHT GRIP ON THAT PISTOL.
grumpy old fart I hope you are in prison. BUT you don't want to fight me you will need medical attention or a Hearst. One hand they must have already been dead.
Why, pray tell, would you want your primary pistol firing position to be one designed to be "on the move"? I guess it stands to reason if you find yourself running away from every confrontation you encounter.
Extra style points on flexing the biceps and traps while aiming. I’m gonna try this technique out next time I’m at the range and want to make everyone laugh hysterically.
I take it you're a "weaver" proponent? Switch to Isosceles and you'll notice an instant improvement because your target becomes your natural point of aim unlike in weaver where you're forcing your body to turn to aim at the target. Great for paper targets on a flat range, crap for anything more dynamic. Get out of the 80's...
@J Calhoun lol I already have thought bout that I got a secret spot for it but I always I mean always have a gun on me i keep my lil ruger 380. With a lasermax an Hogue grips an extended 10rd extra mag on me always day/night even at work an even in the shower it's an arms reach away an that's just my insurance for me to get to the big guns in the car or house but u are rite fam them damn muggers huh smh
@J Calhoun my 5.56 greentip rounds are certainly over penetrating any target I hit an ive seen 3 people get hit with the same 9mm bullet at the same time so I guess u can say that 9mm is a very hot round an tends to over penetrate at times too depending on the rounds your shooting an target your hitting
@J Calhoun the 9mm more than likely was a 124g. Fmj but Its clearly obvious that 380. An 9mm is two different rounds but same diameter 380. Is also known as the 9mm short an I'm not no expert but I am damn near better shot than my old man an my father is a marine corps sniper 16yrs an a expert marksman an is extremely knowledgeable with pretty much any weapon out there but check out the glock website an u will see that there is a lot of cool 380. Guns that are not available to no one but the government bcuz that little round is extremely effective an many test prove it a lot of people sleep on that round but honestly it's not the round that counts it's shot placement ion care if it's a pellet gun u put that pellet in the rite placement your target will fall
When training at Caliber 3 the instructor tells you "In your country you don't point the gun, here we point the gun"...but as the comment below says there is a plastic sleeve in the barrel until you're ready to shoot. But the way they draw the weapon and chamber a round is quite impressive.
That's a weird grip. Doesn't the right thumb get pinched? The left thumb being straight up doesn't provide additional purchase on the pistol that a dual thumbs forward would provide.
I have more faith in the knowledge and experience of the IDF special forces than spurious comments from the peanut gallery. And for those who want to respond anonymously off-topic regarding “occupation forces” why don’t you think about how it feels being surrounded by millions of people who spew nothing but hatred and death for you and who started a war against you with vastly superior forces thinking they were going to wipe you off the face of the earth without mercy and then oh, they lost! Oh give me land back. Oh you are occupying us. Oh you won’t give us open access to your economy and cities. What a crock. I have been as a tourist to Israel and have nothing but great respect for the fortitude of the people in face of massive and continuing adversity. And here’s a message to those who operate on the other side, if you want peace and respect stop the bombings, rockets and killings of innocent Israelis that culminate in the responses that deliver back to you in spades what have invited to be visited upon you. And it’s so interesting how “the Wall” has worked in just about 100% eliminating the previously frequent bombings isn’t it? If you want to fight step out from behind your civilian populations that you know are going to take a hit in responses and fight face to face. But no. You want only to cause death of innocents on your side in order to build hatred and create propaganda for your twisted cause.
Robert Brough it is very refreshing to see someone that really understand the situation as it is. Thanks for your encourage , as an Israeli I really appreciate your support.
i try to point and shoot before i can even get my thumb fully off the safety saves a fraction of a second then my first shot hits right about groin level rather than center of chest saves another fraction of a second .. second shot hits about chest high. this also demoralizes the enemy if you have more than one attacker when they see i just shot the first guy right in the balls they flinch in horror which buys me another fraction of a second to shoot the next guy.. this is my own method i have developed over the years lol.. also i have a trick of just shooting right through my purse while i am acting like i am going to give them my wallet this way i score first hit before they even see my gun.. i prefer hammerless 38 fbi air frame in my purse 9mm fmj for all other use.. close combat every fraction of a second counts my husband calls it the bag of dirty tricks each shooter should have.. i did my training in detroit city working the night shift lol...
no disrespect lady, but shooting in the groin first, then to the chest, safety off, flinch in horror? Who taught you all that? Shooting the groin does not make somebody stop shooting - two shots in the chest will. Flinch in horror?? Wow... just wow... I hope you never have to engage a real threat, as you might have overthought your actions.... stick with simple, double tap to the chest, one to the head, or two attackers... two in each chest first, then to the head... end of story...
Shots to the pelivic cradle will drop someone faster than a shot to the chest. When the pelvic bone is broke it can not hold the weight of the body, and they will drop so fast that the second bullet will hit em in the chest on their way to hell...
@@amebumpous9463 that person drops perhaps, if you hit it properly, but if you have centered your shot, you might shoot in the belly and therefore will still be able to return fire.... double tap in the chest, one to the head and good night.. to shoot at the "pockets" you only do if the aggressor runs towards you, wears a body armor, is under the influence of drugs and does not react to pain/impact... so you have to take its mobility away. that is true
I know these guys are professional and all but Im sorry, this method is simply inferior. That's all there is to it. It's funny, the Israeli method teaches chamber-empty carry because most of their people aren't extensively trained enough to "handle the weapon safely". Then they create an overly complicated method for grip and stance that involves a bunch of wierd crap that is not natural to human body mechanics. A method that requires a crap-ton of training.
Where did you get this information about the lack of training to the point of mishandling weapons? I'd like to see the references so I can learn more about it.
"handle the weapon safely" What a joke. I did this kind of training in Israel. We have WAY more live-fire training and combat experience than most armies. Certainly way more anti-terror training and experience too.
Do not complicate your method. Simple isosceles stance with no exaggerated 'horse stance'. Any simple two handed hold like in IPSC/IDPA/etc.... will do. And you can look at the target or flash sight picture, or front sight focus. At below 10 yards any of these will work. It is the index you want. Index and trigger control. But the longer the range the more you will need a form of sighted fire. The real key is practice. Practice often.
I'm sure that it's making people piss themselves with laughter that's allowed them to continue to exist while under almost constant pressure from every other country in the region. I hear they won that whole 6-Day War situation based solely on the Egyptians, Jordanians, Syrians, Iraqis, Saudi Arabians, Kuwaitis, and Algerians tendency to laugh and piss on themselves. Thank God, right? I mean, can you imagine if they actually had to use this technique against 7 other countries simultaneously? No way they could win ... right? Bleh.
The instructor puts his arm directly in front of the firearm while explaining the grip (bad) Then he tells him to put his finger on the trigger and sways in front of the muzzle. Not good at all. Good thing the guy with the gun sweeps a bit right when he does that.
+ grumpy old fart - did you know that "Hamas" are a branch of the MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD ? The "Palestinians" are no different to ISIS. If you side with them, you side with ISIS. Don't do that.
+Barbara Specteriffic : ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood are the OPPOSITE of Israel. The fact you try equate them is utter nonsense. Which you would know if you weren't actually a bot (as your profile shows). Fortunate;y, Islam is a superstition that doesn't match the archeology of the region and once everyone learns the truth about it then Islam will wither and die - but Israel will be around until the Sun runs out of hydrogen.

Only a jew would think these techniques are useful in a real firefight. You think that because the only people you have ever fought were unarmed children. Those who are trained to fight other adults who are trained and sufficiently armed, know these techniques are a joke and have no application is a real firefight.
I tried to drill with that grip to see how functional it was to adapt to and that's weird as hell. It would take a lot of practice if you were used to thumbs forward for that to ever feel natural. At least for me anyway. You'd have to have that thumb intention that the Glock provides as well as the finger grooves for it to lock in.
i am not sure yet but the idea of being paralel to the target make sense, today at the range i feel like i was sooting low at 25 yards because i had to aim down. i feel if i squated a bit to paralel myself i would be more on poont....anyways any new idea that teaches you something is good

I have a hard time agreeing with not only support hand placement but stance--feet seem way too wide to be sustainable. I also feel the hard gripping of the gun can lead to inaccurate shooting.
The right thumb is on the slide?
Did he swallowed the fly before minute 2?
Your "body stance" gives me a nice target. Thanks
Dennis Watkins that’s kinda what I thought to?
In real life they would have on body armor. Infantries around the world train "armor toward target", any other stance presents a soft spot toward the hostile.
Perhaps, but it's going to be difficult for you to hit it from behind your keyboard.
Did I really just watch a video that told me to stand up straight and grip the gun firmly? This is ground breaking?
Very good indeed, thank you for that demonstration.
Is it true Israeli carry condition 3 without a round in chamber? and if so why? thank you..
Which one is your daddy, the bald one or thee other bald one, traitor snowflake!
Lost count of how many times the instructor positioned him self in front of the fire arm. And with enough practice. You should know exactly when that round leaves the barrel.
I'll bet you miss a lot ... to the left or the right. Just like everyone else who doesn't understand the "surprise" comment.
Thank you.
interesting grip... would be curious to try it... would like to see side by side comparison in high speed camera against the "normal" double hand grip.
codemiesterbeats agreed looks like it can compete with western style grips
I'm old enough to remember when the FBI first developed this point-and-shoot method and between the late 1940s and late 1960s everyone used this method (except maybe once a month when you had to "qualify") and lots of us still use it.
Point. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
That method was developed by FBI agent Jelly Brice from Kiowa Oklahoma. Very interesting story about Jelly. There should be a movie made about him.
Not sure about that grip. In the US the men and women that shoot for blood or money pretty much all shoot with the thumbs parallel.
This looks a lot like the British method of point shoot from back in the Shanghai days. The state of the art has moved forward quite a bit since then.
The thump position and the stance??? 😟
Yikes, that looks like such an unnatural position and grip I can’t imagine that being efficient and useful. Looks more like a pose to try to look like a badass. Thumbs up and holding the pistol “as hard as you can” do not make for an accurate shooting form.
Interesting way of holding. Thanks! Wish you have classes here in the US! I’d love to learn Israeli Army techniques!!!
So I should present a big target and spread my feet as wide as possible? Sounds good, thanks!
Let´s the force be with you :-)
Sorry! They might not be doing everything the way I've been taught to do it in the past but, when you look at their record, I'm not about to question Israelis regarding their counter-terrorism training or their abilities with a firearm of any type.
exactly!
Well maybe you should. Stupid wide and time wasting stances for one. Why do.people get all.moist when it has an Israeli label? They carry unlosded because they cannot be trusted to do otherwise due to the number of ND'S they have.
Some of this is a recipe for losing.
The stance I feel is unrealistic. No room for dynamic reaction
TheDarkman1977 And you have been in exactly how many combat or anti-terror situations?
IDF tactics are based on fights not theory.
But their "fights" are with unarmed Palestinian children, and then the chicken shit tactics like when they attacked the USS Liberty, also shooting those in lifeboats (a war crime by the way), or violating another country's air space to bomb yet another country and fly off in yet another act of chicken shittery.
Raminit No pamper head, try again.
Thomas, that was a brilliant comeback filled with historical and military tactical information. I yield to your intellectual expertise.
Not a technique I've seen or tried but these guys know what their talking about
His thumbs might be too close to the slide potentially causing a failure to feed or eject.
If I was in Israel, I would be carrying a semi auto and seriously considering what this guy is talking about.
thumb positioning goes against everything I learned.
There are many different techniques when it comes to using firearms. The one shown on this video is the standard Israeli technique.
When you're shooting from cover at someone throwing a stone, it really doesn't matter where your thumb is positioned.
Tom Hall Oh yes, Hamas, the PLO, and all of those groups don't exist... *rolls eyes*
what is technique to gently squeeze the trigger?
separation between a tight grip, and a light touch.
the wrap-around with cross thumb is the original way to hold a handgun as was taught before by Col.
Same react system as been practice in usa top tier delta op's reactive tactical cqb
כבוד למדינה!!!
The main point of this grip l believe is that having a fist punching style grip, prevents the gun from being ripped out or taken from you in a close quarters situation in comparison to using the two thumbs forward grip.
update, used this method at range grouping has improved tremendously. highly recommend.
Sorry dude... I would never use this tecnnique...
It's BS....; about as gay looking as chamber empty is tactically sound.
Don't like this technique
DOn't blame you...gay stance, and chamber empty....? Bad combo!
Respect and support for Israel! !
What for the oppressors?
How he is gonna move from that position?
He won't be able to.
Why, pray tell, would you want your primary pistol firing position to be one designed to be "on the move"? I guess it stands to reason if you find yourself running away from every confrontation you encounter.
Why does Sharon Gad remind me so much of Erran Morad? 😅
"שקט צעיר!" 😂😂😂
Good luck with that
Really? And how close combat have you been in?
I can’t tell if this is parody or if he’s serious
More Bushito. My neighbor had a stroke while watching this.
Btw thanks for the training! My abs hurt due the funby comments down below!
Extra style points on flexing the biceps and traps while aiming. I’m gonna try this technique out next time I’m at the range and want to make everyone laugh hysterically.
the stance provides an opponent with max target surface. This is obviously detrimental in a fire fight no matter range to target
@J Calhoun lol I'm the paranoid one I got a level 3 vest an I'm no military or L.E.O lmao i can admit I keep it for shtf scenario fam
Robert Brough Damn Straight! I stand with Israel (U.S.Army NG Vet)

The weaver methode was 30 years ago new.
The evalution goes one, thanks for shaering.
i try to point and shoot before i can even get my thumb fully off the safety saves a fraction of a second then my first shot hits right about groin level rather than center of chest saves another fraction of a second .. second shot hits about chest high. this also demoralizes the enemy if you have more than one attacker when they see i just shot the first guy right in the balls they flinch in horror which buys me another fraction of a second to shoot the next guy.. this is my own method i have developed over the years lol.. also i have a trick of just shooting right through my purse while i am acting like i am going to give them my wallet this way i score first hit before they even see my gun.. i prefer hammerless 38 fbi air frame in my purse 9mm fmj for all other use.. close combat every fraction of a second counts my husband calls it the bag of dirty tricks each shooter should have.. i did my training in detroit city working the night shift lol...
no disrespect lady, but shooting in the groin first, then to the chest, safety off, flinch in horror?
Definitely Borat or Zohan!
Note: There’s no one way to hold a gun . Each hand , user is different.
It took me a full 30 seconds to decide this wasn't a Sasha Baron Cohen parody... and I'm still only 90% sure.
Pistol shooting techniques, brought to you by "Antiquity Firearms LLC."
When only the worst of laughably outdated training is required.
Why put full target people practice at rather than side with thin target and hold handgun same. i disagree. But who am i?
Do not complicate your method. Simple isosceles stance with no exaggerated 'horse stance'. Any simple two handed hold like in IPSC/IDPA/etc.... will do. And you can look at the target or flash sight picture, or front sight focus. At below 10 yards any of these will work. It is the index you want. Index and trigger control.
But the longer the range the more you will need a form of sighted fire. The real key is practice. Practice often.
I think Sasha baron Cohen watched your videos to copy your likeness. lmao he did a good job.
Well he is jewish
I use the 4 step John Wayne method. #1. Pull my gun. #2. shoot the bad guy. #3. get on my horse. #4. Ride off into the sunset.
John Wayne? Never heard of her.
The only way I see this effect is you will make your opponent laugh so hard they will piss themself.
No way they could win ... right? Bleh.
Will this work even with a 1911?
The instructor puts his arm directly in front of the firearm while explaining the grip (bad) Then he tells him to put his finger on the trigger and sways in front of the muzzle. Not good at all. Good thing the guy with the gun sweeps a bit right when he does that.
1:06 I believe the gun is empty
'For safety reasons, the gun is not loaded.
There is inside a safety Peleg. Safety is over all'

+ grumpy old fart - did you know that "Hamas" are a branch of the MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD ? The "Palestinians" are no different to ISIS. If you side with them, you side with ISIS. Don't do that.
+Barbara Specteriffic - How so ? how is it possible that the people who fight the Muslim Brotherhood/ISIS are ISIS ? you fail at basic logic. Derp !
That is an excellent gun grip method with thumbs crossed. I use it to shoot 25 meters and is better than the thumb forward.
Very interesting, so different than what I have been taught.
Did Alex just flag himself and the other dude🤷♂️
i would like to strongly suggest that caliber 3 exercise their right to delete comments that have nothing to do with the video being presented. additionally i want more videos of the dogs. lastly, thank you for being קידושי ה-שם; every time (everyday) a few dozen foreigners enter your school you dispel myths and hatred.
Only a jew would think these techniques are useful in a real firefight. You think that because the only people you have ever fought were unarmed children. Those who are trained to fight other adults who are trained and sufficiently armed, know these techniques are a joke and have no application is a real firefight.
dang...to many killers in the comments!!
Interesting..looks a lot like the "Ayoob Wedge"...developed by Massad Ayoob about 30 years ago..
"Finger on the trigger"
*Steps in front of the gun* lol
these guys are the real deal
Pls diffarent target engaged who to firing
Hi sir watching from Philippines hoping to go in your beautiful country someday
Noooooooo efffing way, you guys have fun with that nonsense
Any unnatural body position is bad. This shooter looks very dramatized and unnatural. This technique is bad.
Agree with you.
i am not sure yet but the idea of being paralel to the target make sense, today at the range i feel like i was sooting low at 25 yards because i had to aim down. i feel if i squated a bit to paralel myself i would be more on poont....anyways any new idea that teaches you something is good

I used to use the locking thumb method and I liked it until the Isosceles guys got ahold of me! Now watching this and knowing how experience Israeli fighters are I’m going back to it! Also the body stance is ready for anything!
That's actually a really good idea to try and surprise yourself when the gun is going to fire. You'll easily shoot 10x more accurately.
