- The Onion looks at the discovery of a group of North Dakotan coal miners that would become the cast of 'Happy Days,' the Supreme Court ruling that allowed black students to experience racism first hand in desegregated schools, and the historic hot air balloon ride that allowed one 13-year-old to become the first American to urinate on a crowd from 100 feet in the air.

The only news network that lets me watch a man break down in real time
Who needs a news network when I have a mirror
@@memphisstef3808 this one hit too close man
He's probably covering his face to hide his laughter... I don't know how anyone can keep a straight face with that.
yeah....really starting to worry about the professor. Am i alone on this?
Yes
Yes
Yes
Yes
Yeah, is he ok?
The ongoing gag with the prof' was comedy gold. Doesn't work if you weren't aware of the previous bits, but with them in the chronological series the breakdown is perfect.
This is the funniest take on desegregation I’ve ever heard😂😂
Best crying scene ever.
The professor is really growing on me. I kept waiting for him to go off on another tirade, but he just kept crying. That was TRULY genius. I was laughing so hard that I was crying, haha! I love that guy. :)
That image of Lady Liberty and her family is just too brilliant.
When I watched the last "This Week In History" I thought "Well the next one has to have the historian either looking emotionless and silently into the camera or weeping continuously, since they've upped the ante so much, this is the only possible culmination"
Wish I wrote that in the chat then and became mini-Nostradamus.
Its okay, You'll always be my mini-nostradamus
@@vyl4650 Aww
Now kiss
I cracked up when I saw the Statue of liberties family!
It sounded like he was crying and laughing at the same time
1:46 Local man realizes he is in the universe where the onion is real life.
So... 2020?
I could watch that guy cry for hours.
If you actually blend The Onion with legitimate news these days it'll get harder and harder to discern which is which
1:24 Lady Liberty shedding a single tear
Lol the perfect stature!!
I love how the Professor gets more and more bizarre each week.
“First American” implies other people have done it before
Can watch that professor cry for hours, it really warms my heart :)
I live in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. One of our three city radio stations is 97.5, The River, and as far as I know is only broadcast as far as our two neighbouring cities. Needless to say, I tripped balls when I just heard it mentioned on The Onion
I got the results of the final exams of my degree today. Oh god, that historian... I'm going to be him...
Wise, wise words from Mr. Gandhi.
Seriously those are the best moments in these vids
The statute of liberty would’ve been given a visa but since the statues only job is to sit and hold a torch, she was considered too low skilled and was sent back to France
oh my gosh i was crying laughing so hard when he was crying...this is so funny how do they know how to be so funny
This feels like what a history documentary would look like if it was made by an alien civilization hundreds of years in the future... (and they took some creative liberty)
These are by far my favorite Onion clips. The professor story is hilarious.
i wish i could see one of these every day. I never get sick of them.
at the beginning i was like yay something happy and then they said they could endure ratial slurs from places other than the streets....
1:45 Loving the bleakness! Thanks The Onion 😀
1:51 he's not crying he's loughing about the jokes of the onion
Fast forwarding through Prof. Hendry like a baws!
Because we need to see it.
2:45 Bart Simpson, the pioneer days
Great writing and superb acting!
Give that man an Oscar!
I spat out my food when he started crying.
The lady liberty story was hilarious!
At first i didnt get the crying bit, but then, i lolled.
Uh oh, your elementary school teachers taught you wrong too. Just look it up and have your mind blown.
That's okay Timothy. Let it out.
Miss this show
LOL brilliant as usual
I don't like crying professor. He better redeem himself next week or it's back to the salt mines
Poor Mr. Hendry... it'll be okay...
At least Prof. Hendry didn't complain this time.
Why do I have the feeling that Alex, from the Monument Mythos, was inspired to create the LIBERTYLURKER video by the Lady liberty gag from this video?
I love how they use stock images in 1950s video clips 😂
How come there's no more Today Now segments?
Poor Mr. Hendry.
0:55 really can’t tell if the kid is looking away or at the one bullying him.
I liked the painting of hot air balloon piss
lol First American to urinate on a crowd from 100 feet in the air
Love the Onion :')
LOL @ the Liberty family.
This week in Hendry.
I just can't understand why I didn't find this history stuff so interesting in high school.
OSCAR FOR PROFFESSOR!
I have to wonder what Ghandi's statement would have been life it it hadn't been "historically speaking."
that poor man, WHY DO THEY NOT EDIT OUT HIS PAIN!?!?
1:45 LMFAO!
My favorite onion show
Typo at 2:44 First has a Capital I.
I fucking love The Onion.
I think that professor won't last much longer, he is probably suicidal by now.
Why do you think they stopped making these?
Poor guy....
Suddenly,
Doggo
The professor commenting has become the best part of The Onion.
man, THAT PROFESSOR is really ANN CURRY-ing it.
i was mistaken. this was actually funny.
Dear Onion viewers: if you are in New York City any time soon, I'd heartily recommend checking out the Tenement Museum. Gives a great view of what it was like to be a working class American in the days before the welfare state (hint: it's not pretty).
just like how french fries and french toast were originally created in fancy french restaurants...
That cramped, rat infested tenament in the lower east side is now priced at $65m. That's a joke but not the ha-ha kind.
ngl timothy h. hendry is my favourite historian
wow i jus drank a mackeson triple stout...somehow i felt why this guy was crying.
Go ahead, he needs it.
Let's all give the professor a big hug!
not everyone does that, you know?
that poor poor professor
"(...)becoming the first american to urinate on a crowd from 100 feet in the air" but not the last!
yh tehy were....
MORE behind the pen. I sent him a letter
Don't we all?
Chomsky: Thomas Jefferson, the leading Enlightenment figure in the United States, along with Benjamin Franklin, who took exactly the same view, argued that dependence will lead to "subservience and venality", and will "suffocate[s] the germs of virtue". And remember, by dependence he meant wage labor, which was considered an abomination under classical liberal principles.
I love seeing people cry. It makes me lol
Sounds like a solid idea. Don't forget to mention that you're watching this in 2012 and to like the post accordingly.
agree
Sure you were, because trolls admit when they were trolling.
agreed
It's not Brown "vs" Board, it's Brown "v." Board. The "v" means "with" in latin, not "versus."
I thought you were serious for a second, then I remembered I was watching the Onion
i got bamboozled
Get your shit together Prof. Hendry...
THATS WHAT SHE SAID
Da sind wir aber die einzigen...
2:18
Me brushing my teeth
Awesome
I watch this just for the historian :D
that poor statue of liberty. . .
The professor is the most good!
Your sentence physically hurt to read.
I was like "PLEASE don't start talking about Eric fucking Kauffman again......... Oh good, he's crying."
Timothy Hendry: The Greatest Tragedy Ever Told
