I use Baby oil mixed with a few drops of pure peppermint oil. Like a quarter of baby oil and a drop or two of peppermint per body section. Works like a charm! It also tingles a little
They have incredible eyesight so it already knew the mosquito was there before it touched its leg and while they don't have emotional intelligence they do have calculative intelligence when it comes to judging distance, speed and even identifying dangerous parts of it's prey, manrises can identify that wasps and bees for example have stingers and will often chew off the stinging end before they continue eating, they also know to chew off any spiky or dangerous legs and limbs first and start eating prey head first.

@@TheCryptidman Not quite so sure. Centipedes are savage, but Mantises are way smarter. Offense is the best defense. They have high speed and claws. A Centipede just have their well known venomous bite.

Every time I see a praying mantis on my door or walls (outside of course), I just leave them be. Not only do I think they’re pretty insects, but they’re EXCELLENT at dealing with a lot of the pests.
There's an important difference between the jumping spider and the mantis: THE SIZE. That's why the mantis eats more. The other point could be the taste. Maybe the spider don't like too much the mosquito taco.
I once was on holiday in turkey and had a defective mosquito net in my room. Every morning there was a score of mosquitos caught between the net and the closed window, and it was a hassle to open the window without letting mosquitos into the room. But one day I caught a jumping spider on the terrace and locked her between net and window in the evening. In the morning the spider had, as hoped, had caught every mosquito that got inside, and at least a dozen of them lay dead at the bottom of the frame. So, jumping spiders can easily catch more then five mosquitos even in the short morning hour after dawn ... if they're in the mood. Sadly, the spider escaped into the room after I opened the window and wasn't to be caught again for another morning shift ...

Interesting to watch. Praying Mantise's are the biggest threat and predator in the insect world. Fascinating to see their skills in such a habitat
Centipedes might take the cake, those guys are psychopaths. Mantids are quite interesting, though.

Nice video! I like mantis even more. When I harvested some greens I found a big green one. It got a ride on my hand back out to the garden.
