Henry Rollins - Ep 277: Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost | Bottom Of The Tank

- Black Flag singer Henry Rollins met me in a hotel cafe in Edinburgh, Scotland to talk about travel. @HenryRollins21361 goes all over the globe. He really likes to get off the beaten path and explore new places. I thought I liked seeing things, but Rollins takes it to a whole new level. He goes places I've never even heard of, met people I didn't know existed, done things I'd be too scared to do. It was such a fun conversation and it filled me with wanderlust.

Legend
Crazy to think this was 5 years ago. I remember the first time I heard this episode. Made me a big fan of Henry.
I remember this episode and the dudes a fucking legend. The summer after this I got a plane to Vietnam with no plan and got lost for a while
I wish to do that . I don't know how to get the courage
@@bizzareadventure8576 just book a flight and go. You will be fine. As soon as the borders open I'm getting a ticket and going to go to the places I missed in se asia
@@rikme2828 sorry if this is a personal question but how expensive is it? and did you have to get injections? I always assume that the types of people who did this sort of thing are either really well off financially or retired (and spent their lives making a lot of money) but then another part of me thinks that even if you work minimum wage (like me) you could probably save some money to go visit a random country
@@sayitdontsprayit9325 it can be cheap if you stay in hostels and live off street food and eat where the locals eat.Just get saving and get going
I’ve heard this before, but I remember liking it so much I’m gonna listen to it again tonight with a joint. Have a good night y’all
my two favorite people, thanks for the episode Ari
You're such a great interviewer, you know how to gently guide the conversation without being overbearing. And, genuine interest in what people have to say. You never feel disgenuine.
Love how the dog has the black flag bars and he’s just straight chillin
2:28:08 "My first day in India, I saw 9 dead people"
"What?!"
"I went into a funeral home..."
"Oh." lmao
Lol
I heard this a week or so ago! Henry is such a great guy, truly treats everyone the same
Ari Shaffir is 100% the person who got me into backpacking. That pic on his IG of him with those kids in Vietnam holding up a Hitler salute while he rocks the mustache, that’s the kind of shit I started doing it for and I’ve had a LOT of crazy stories over the past 5 or so years
Holy shit I remember originally listening to this podcast like 5 years ago. I didn’t even have my first smart phone. I didn’t convert until 23 years old lol
Dude how am I not found out about this sooner because I've been a punk since I was just a little kid and Henry was always one of my favorites along with Jello Biafra because they are just so damn smart and well-rounded can't wait to listen to all of these episodes this is just the first one I ever found
Best Skeptic tank episode of all time
This is my all time favorite podcast.
I can respect that
Love the LOTR reference in the title. Great pod
Rollins: 43:51
basically this. almost an hour of talking to a brick wall before anything happens.
When you talk about football and the metric system I fall a little bit in love with you dude. Also great to hear Rollins again. Thanks!
Beat opening and also podcast of the skeptic tank
Excited to hear you interview Henry Rollins !
fuck yeah
as a surfer i plan to surf every continent
it’d be easier to surf every ocean, no?
Whats the connection between the two? Huge fan of Ari, and always been a fan if rollins for about 39 years now. But it surprised me that Ari if all people wouldhave Henry on
One of the best podcast episodes ever along with the Rolf Potts appearances!
Cool
Holy shit.
He's describing king Kong much smaller than he truly should be, no way he'd fit into a theatre and be climbing balconies inside, NO WAY...
Henry and Ari. It's a good fucking Friday indeed.
double thumbs up
You should make the walking video or whatever you have playing a little bigger sometimes I like throwing these on tv n that’s noice for that
Damn! Sorry I missed you in Norway. Fuck! Hope you come back man..
Man I get so excited because I see a new episode then immediately let down when it's just regurgitated from years ago.
Bout tired of the old replays Ari is on Vacation for 10 months sh*t. No 6th and Jump for a month now...not that they need him. But, Love Henry Rollins

When I cam from Hungary I was 9 years old. I found out the same thing how they call Football soccer here and American football Football. Same thoughts, why?
I thought the same with the metric system. It's like a dumbass neighbour copying you but doesn't want to admit it and makes it shutter and more complicated.
Seen him live with Black Flag in 1984 bloody awful but I like Henry and his acting.
soccer came from the Aztecs

What's his point, in the sense of being in the mix? I get it, but what does that do? Seems like more shit he can say for his "story"
Ari’s website and him are parallel: functioning but not excelling! Update your page to be mobil friendly and use a god Danm camera next time time. Stop with the baby shit ari. I wan t this podcast up and running
audio only on youtube in 2021? waht the fuck is this shit Arnold?
Rollins is so woke
Exhausting, isn’t it?
Algorithm.
Eeyyy Kobay Bryyyyyaaannnnn
With regards to the Vietnam War, I believe America might be the only place where it is taught that they won. The Australian education system (teachers and textbooks) are all pretty clear on the fact that America lost that one pretty definitively. It would be very interesting to sit in an American classroom and hear the teachings of how they think they won
There are zero American schools that teach anyone that America won the Vietnam conflict.
Yeah buddy. They definitely don't teach that. You're lying out ya ass
Misinformation up the poo hole
3 months later and you're still absolutely wrong.
My school never mentioned that war at any point
the King Kong monologue wasn't funny at all. not sure what the point of it is.
